Theo//vampire, civilian//location: outside of Runemeth main gates//tags: open!, Ren
The Corvus instinctively melted under Ren’s strokes, only lifting his head with a surprised “er?” when he had taken his hand back to brush away his hair. He was not embarrassed at all by the interaction, and even made a quick judgement call that this guy was not half-bad. Anyone who respected animals couldn’t have malicious intent in his eyes. Now that he could see his face, Theo titled his head so he could observe it more closely. The blond seemed familiar in a strange way but the bird didn’t put much thought into it when his perch slowed his stride and Theo almost fell off. His wings flew out to steady himself before eventually resigning to just hopping down to the ground and peering up at the vampire heir.
The crow cawed in agreement to his statement about the chill in the air, fluffing up his feathers almost as if he were shrugging. “So are the seasons.” Theo commented, his usually poetic voice garbled as it came from his beak. He was facing the same way Ren was at this point and had hopped a few times in that direction before turning and cocking his head to the side as he made eye contact. He hadn’t realised that he had spoken until just then, but now the gig was up. And after such a short while too; Theodore almost clicked his tongue in disappointment with himself.
The feeling didn’t last for long and soon enough the bird had gone back to examining the talon he had just lifted up, opening and closing it again in curiosity before speaking again. “Is there somewhere specific you are headed?” He inquired. His gaze hadn’t lifted from his claws.

Xander//human, hunter//location: Ember, main castle & dungeon//tags: open!, possibly Jessika, Kenji, and Akira
The man in his mid-twenties felt a twinge of relief in his chest upon seeing the bounty hunters scatter. It meant nothing good, since they would likely try again, but at the very least the two of them created enough of a disruption to give the princess the escape she needed. Mostly Kenji, but Xander didn’t feel bad about taking a bit of the credit; who knows what would have been made of the guy? A partial glance to the vampire in question, and Xander immediately regretted it. He didn’t sense any malice but someone suddenly appearing at the exact moment arrows were fired was undeniably suspicious, possibly even moreso then if he had just walked off. The hunter gritted his teeth at this realisation.
The other guy’s statement seemed clear as day when Xander straightened up to catch his breath. “Cause we’re not their targets.” Xander spat, his eyes staring at where the few disappeared until he remembered Kenji’s state. “Aw sh-er, we’ve gotta get ya some help-“ The Bowman was already tearing into his satchel with his free hand, failing to find a bandage by the time the other warned him of guards. His eyebrows shot up at that. “Why weren’t they here before?!” Xander almost complained, his adrenaline finally starting to wear off as he hurried to sling his bow under the cover of his cloak. He only finished when he heard the stampede of steps behind them and shuffled around to be face to face with blade-wielding soldiers.
The brunet stilled for a solid minute as he scanned the guards, processing their words slowly and carefully. This... wasn’t really happening, was it? “W-wait! I swear we didn’t mean any harm, I’ve done nothing wrong in my life ever and these guys just came out of nowhere to attack the woman who left on the horse! We distracted em!” Xander sputtered out, raising his arms in front of his chest to show that he was no longer armed. Almost immediately he had a spearhead pointed towards his chest and he lowered them again, this time clenched together. Xander tossed an uneasy glance to Kenji and noticed the curt nod. Quickly taking the cue, he shut up.
The hunter’s dark gaze widened and stuck to his mysterious acquaintance upon hearing his bold demand. It was no wonder he had made audience with an heir to Ember and Xander was a bit embarrassed that he hadn’t recognised it immediately from the armour the man wore. Even as he examined him now the archer felt it was obvious- the striking features, his calm exterior under their current circumstances, and the scar on his cheek. The way he almost collapsed did summon a soft gasp of concern though, and Xander still watched him carefully as both of them were taken hold of by guards. The archer didn’t want him to die plain and simple; especially since it was just the two of them that were caught and he had no idea how he’d talk his way out of this one.
Alexander complied as two guards moved to take his wrists and another confiscated his weapons, only sparing a moment to make sure they weren’t broken in the process before he was pushed after Runeth’s general into the castle.
(Ohh, this does seem interesting! Good job thinking it up, and thanks!)
