Act of Kindness Story: Paige had never lost a battle, and she certainly wasn’t planning on losing to a new recruit. But plans are always changing here.
The older Kalon glanced around the arena casually; it was a familiar stage, at least: Endgame Railroad, one of the more difficult stages to compete in simply due to the fact that there weren’t many places to hide.
Player Characters were always marked out by colorful arrows above their head, making it near impossible to lose them unless they were covered by a solid object. However, Paige was an experienced PC; she knew where to look, and in no time found the green arrow she’d been hunting for.
This PC was a youngster; slightly larger than Paige, she’d admit, but new to the game, if the nervous look plastered to her face said anything.
Paige knew better than to give away her position, so she laid low for a moment as the kid passed her. Then, she lunged.
A yelp sounded from the younger Kalon as the match began. They tussled on the floor for a minute, Paige aiming to make the kill swift so she could be done with this training round already.
The player controlled Kalon beneath her was doing everything she could in order to free herself from the elder’s grasp. Paige could sense the panic coming from the new player, and normally this wouldn’t have affected her...
That is, if she didn’t remind her so much of herself.
Her name was Annabeth; Paige remembered that from a while ago, when the youngster had hunted her down before one of her previous player controlled matches. The kid had seemed so excited, so eager to go and win her first match... She’d only been an applicant back then.
She didn’t know of the pain of being trapped in here; probably hadn’t even spoken to any of the other competitors who’d have warned her of the dangers of participating, despite what threats Eternelite spewed.
Paige looked into the golden eyes of the Kalon beneath her, seeing a scared kid, but also seeing a fiery determination that had once fueled herself to be the absolute best.
She couldn’t kill that determination.

As Paige walked out of the Respawn Point, she saw the rookie laughing in obvious disbelief with some of the other PC’s. She smiled at the kid once she’d noticed her, walking up to her and nudging her shoulder. “Congrats, rookie.”
“Thank you, miss Paige!” Annabeth chirped excitedly. “I... I still can’t believe I won! I actually won!”
Paige had nothing more to offer than a warm smile to that. “That you did, my dear.”
She supposed she could take the loss... Just this once.

The first time... It was her first training session as a player controlled character, and Annabeth was terrified.
It wasn’t like she hadn’t practiced for this moment; she knew all of her moves and combos inside and out. She was more than prepared.
She already knew the cause of her stress and anxiety: Paige.
Paige was one of the reasons Annabeth had even signed up to be an Eternelite Player Character in the first place. She had impeccable fighting skills: only the best of the best could control her as a PC. Overall a daunting opponent to go up against, especially if you’re a rookie going in for the first time.
And that was Annabeth’s current situation.
She breathed heavily as she loaded into the level - an intermediate stage, one she had played herself many times over and over again: Endgame Railroad. She knew the ins and outs of this stage.
That didn’t make it any less terrifying, though.
Annabeth spawned behind the Inn, hitching her breath as she realized that the match had started, and Paige was nowhere to be seen.
This was a dangerous scenario. Annabeth knew that if you didn’t keep a visual on your opponent, that could definitely be the difference between a win and a loss.
Her paws began moving beneath her and she grew more and more anxious with every step. She knew Paige could be anywhere; she just didn’t know where.
Suddenly, she felt a weight slam into her side. She screamed, realizing Paige had managed to catch her off guard, and began using all of her defensive techniques to try and get her off; but to no avail. Paige wasn’t classified as one of the top tier characters for no reason.
She struggled underneath the older Kalon, panic swelling in her chest as she realized she’d already set herself up for failure. Paige was an experienced PC; there was no way she could even dream of defeating her now that she was pinned.
But Annabeth was determined.
She kept an eye out for any opening, any chance she had at winning this - and found one.
As Paige had been looming over her, she repositioned herself and raised her left paw to strike - leaving her soft underbelly wide open for an offensive maneuver.
Annabeth immediately jumped at the chance, using all of her strength to kick the older Kalon off of her and get up. She lunged at the stunned woman, and clamped down on her throat immediately, clawing and fighting until she felt Paige’s body pixelate beneath her.
She had won.

Over the congratulations and praises from her fellow PC’s, Annabeth saw her idol smiling at her from the Respawn Point. She grinned back as the older Kalon trotted over and nudged her shoulder. “Congrats, rookie.”
“Thank you, miss Paige!” she stammered. “I... I still can’t believe I won! I actually won!”
As the thought processed in her mind, she could just barely hear Paige chuckle, “That you did, my dear.”

Personality: Annabeth is a new PC in the Eternity Battle game world, and is eager to prove her worth. She’s always excited, having wanted to be in a video game since she was just a wee tot; to actually live in one is literally a dream come true. Very gullible and naive, she’s quick to trust others, leaving very little room for judgement of character. Annabeth believes there’s good in everyone, and that all intentions are a pure reflection of one’s character. One thing is for certain though: Annabeth is in for one hell of a rude awakening in Eternity Battle.
