Level 1 - Describe your clan

Postby eel. » Mon Apr 22, 2019 1:51 am

GullClan is a clan that lives on an island a few days away from the Greek Mainland. They live in a small forest of pines among other trees, and their camp is an underground cave/tunnel system. The island has plenty of prey, and includes Greek ruins - popular hunting spots for the cats. The island also holds a few predators such as foxes, who live in a concentrated area and will rarely harm the clan, wolves, who have a mutual agreement with GullClan not to tresspass on each other's territory, and eagles, who occasionally fly by to prey on the kits and young apprentices or students.

GullClan also has two ranks foreign to traditional clans. Clawreaders, who are like warrior-medicine cats; they can hunt, heal, and fight, but their main job is to read signs in the waves, the clouds, feathers, the trees. Even the little things a normal cat may not notice. The other new rank is a clawreader's apprentice, a stuent. Students may never have trained as a warrior or medicine cat apprentice first.

GullClan isn't very well known, but they are kind, supportive, and loving of each other. All in all, you come to GullClan, you have a place with a new family.

Level 1 - Give your leader a history/personality

Postby eel. » Mon Apr 22, 2019 1:54 am

- history
snowkit and his brother driftkit were born into riverclan. they lived normal lives up until their tenth moon. rushpaw, an older apprentice, dared driftpaw and snowpaw to come spy on some twolegs near the lake with him. the two toms agreed to the dare, and the three had a relatively successful spying mission until a twoleg spotted them. they ran, but driftpaw was the slowest and was captured by the twolegs. rushpaw and snowpaw turned back to help, and they were able to free driftpaw, but snowpaw got trapped in the process. he was taken to the vet by twolegs and was vaccinated and neutered, and it was decided he was young enough to be domesticated. snowpaw was adopted by an elderly couple he was surprised to say he liked, and was renamed breeze. breeze lived with his twolegs until he was three years old - the year they both died. breeze left his new home, longing to get back to riverclan, and he met a street-smart tom named marcus who agreed to help him find it. the two became close friends - maybe even more - before they finally gave up their search. marcus came up with the idea that breeze should start his own clan, and after thinking about it, breeze grudgingly agreed. marcus took him on a boat to an island where breeze decided to make his territory, and the two toms found a suitable place to speak with starclan. breeze received nine lives and became snowstar, leader of gullclan (the name was his now dead brother's idea). snowstar invited marcus to join his clan and made him the deputy. a few moons later, after dealing with some troublesome rogues, snowstar confessed he loved marcus, now named greystorm, and greystorm returned the feelings. the two became mates.

Level 1 - Write about your leader meeting a new clan member

Postby eel. » Mon Apr 22, 2019 2:20 am

snowstar shared a quizzical glance with greystorm. apparently he, too, had picked up the scent of a strange cat.

snowstar frowned, following the scent trail, his mate right behind him. the scent slowly got fresher, showing the two toms that they were gaining on whoever they were following.

when the scent ahead of them became overpowering, snowstar signaled with his tail for greystorm to stop moving, and peered through a bush into the clearing ahead of him.

in that clearing sat the most beautiful molly snowstar had ever seen. she was a ginger tabby, but white spotting took up most of her pelt, making the tabby markings stand out like the flames of a wildfire.

her golden eyes were alert, and she was munching on a mouse, her ears flicking this way and that to keep track of all of the forest sounds. then the serenity of the moment was ruined as greystorm shouldered himself out of the bush and into the clearing.

'hey you!' snapped the blue tabby, glaring at the newcomer. 'get off of our territory!'

she stayed where she sat, her golden eyes meeting greystorm's orange ones. 'i'm perfectly fine where i am, thank you very much.'

snowstar pushed himself out of the bushes behind greystorm, nudging the larger tom to the side. 'forgive my friend.' He said, dipping his head to the molly. 'he can be pushy.'

greystorm glared at the leader and snowstar chuckled. 'alright, but he does have a point. you are on our territory.'

the molly snorted, turning her head to give her side a few licks. 'well, i was dropped off her by some...friends of mine. i think it warrants it as my territory?'

snowstar shook his head. 'it is not. this territory is mine - well technically the clan's. and what do you mean by...friends?' he asked, wondering if they could be - no. impossible.

the molly dipped her head in acknowledgement. 'well alright then mr. clan. and...don't worry about my supposed friends. they can go choke on a mouse for all i care. but if i may ask - who are you, and what in the name of the heavens is a clan?'

greystorm leaped into an explanation about clans, introducing himself and snowstar first, as snowstar studied the molly. if she had been left here, she would probably be staying here. she was built strong and lithe and would make a great warrior for gullclan - if she agreed to join, that is.

'mystery cat,' snowstar said, interrupting greystorm, 'you've heard enough about clans for now. what do you say your name is?'

'cody. my name is cody.'

Breeding Task - Snowstar X Greystorm

Postby eel. » Mon Apr 22, 2019 6:05 am

the lilac pointed tom sat atop one of the boulders that provided entrance to the camp. his gaze was locked on the stars, trying to pick out different constellations his mother had show him long ago. his mother. how he missed her. but his eyes were taken off of the stars and his mind off of grief when greystorm trotted out of the camp.

'snowstar?' he called softly, his eyes scanning the pine forest around him. snowstar purred. 'up here, you silly alligator!' the pointed tom called, laughing as greystorm leaped around, surprised.

"i didn't know you were a monkey." he teased, leaping onto the other boulder next to Snowstar's. greystorm chuckled, apparently just realizing what snowstar had said. 'what on earth is a silly alligator?' he laughed.

the leader puffed out his chest comically. 'it matters not, because i am a cat-monkey, the ultimat creature - of, uh, creatures!'

greystorm snorted. 'even i wouldn't have been able to come up with something that stupid.' he joked with a god-natured roll of his eyes.

normally snowstar would snap at a cat who half-insulted him like that, even if they didn't mean it. but greystorm had been a long-time friend, possibly even more, and snowstar rarely ever found himself angry at the blue tabby deputy.

greystorm scraped his claws down the boulder, and snowstar winced at the noise, flattening his ears.

'you better stop that.' snowstar told his friend, returning his gaze to the stars.

'i will if you stop being lazy and haul yourself off of your paws.' joked greystorm yet again, though snowstar noticed he had stopped.

both toms listened to the chirping crickets for a while. snowstar closed his eyes in content. whenever he was around greystorm, his worries disappeared, and he rarely thought of his old life.

'snowstar?' greystorm's mew was soft, and more serious than snowstar had ever heard it. the leader opened his eyes and shifted to face the deputy. 'hmm?'

'well...i wanted to ask you something. would you - could you - uh, be...be my mate?'

snowstar jerked back in surprise. 'i, uh, but i would be a horrible mate! i lost my clan because of some stupid dare, and i - well, i love you but i would be a terrible father - '

he was cut off my his new mate as he leaned in to lick his muzzle. 'snowstar, i don't care about something that happened well over two years ago. i don't care what you think about being a father, because i know you'll be the best one throughout all of the clans. snowstar, i don't care because i love you.'

snowstar was shocked, frozen still, then the invisible ice encasing his body melted off of him in a torrent of water, and he leaned over to lick his new mate's head. 'i will of course be your mate.' he sighed happily. 'i always felt this connection with you, though i guess i didn't know what it was until now.'

greystorm grinned, leaning back to study snowstar. 'trust your messy mind to interpret love as something else!'

snowstar whacked the boulder with his tail. 'is that a challenge?' he growled playfully, blissfully happy, leaning forwards so he was in a crouch. greystorm mocked fear. 'oh no, the all-very-much-powerful-cat-monkey is going to attack me! i'm so scared!'

'you better be bloody scared alright!' laughed snowstar, leaping for his new love of his life. he knocked greystorm off of his boulder, and they fell to the ground, wrestling. greystorm had soon pinned snowstar, and the larger tom was too heavy and strong for snowstar to push away.

'give in, cat-monkey!' he yowled. 'i win!'

Level 2 - Write about your clan's camp

Postby eel. » Mon Apr 22, 2019 3:11 pm

The GullClan camp is an underground cavern, hollowed out by a river long ago, when this island was most likely part of the mainland. A few holes in the ceiling let in sunlight over the main camp. The entrance is two large boulders leaning together, which may have been placed there by twolegs. The boulders lead into a tunnel into the main clearing.

The prey pile sits in the center of camp in a natural dip under the Sunhole, the main hole in the ceiling of the camp that lets in light. The Sunhole is too small for a full grown cat to fit through, but is large enough for a new apprentice (It is not possible for the apprentice to get through it unless they fall in from the top). Occasionally, a mouse will accidentally fall into camp via the Sunhole, and kill itself in the fall; if it somehow survives, it will be killed by a GullClan warrior.

The leader's den is closest to the entrance tunnel, and is a cozy cave with lichen hanging over the entrance. It smells of the sea, usually, and is always supplied with fresh moss and prey.

The medicine den is in the very back of the camp, opposite of the entrance tunnel. A small tunnel leads to a small cavern where water trickles in from the Cut-off for a fresh water source, and a wide crack in the wall can be used for storing herbs. Supplies of bracken and moss sit in the corner.

The warriors den is on the left side of camp (if you were facing it from the entrance tunnel). It is constructed from an underground plant with bracken and brambles to shore it up. The apprentices den, much the same but smaller, sits next to it, closer to the back of the camp.

In the back right corner, underground ferns cover the entrance to a cool overhang that overshadows the nursery. Brambles and bracken are used to keep the ferns up here as well. In the cracks of the back wall, reeds and long grasses are held as well as mossballs - all for kitten play.

And finally, the elders den. Next to the nursery, so the back right side of camp, it is a long tunnel that leads to a cave about the size of the nursery. It is comfortable and warm.

Level 2 - Describe your leader and deputy's relationship

Postby eel. » Mon Apr 22, 2019 3:17 pm

snowstar and greystorm started out as normal friends, helping each other get what they wanted. the two slowly grew closer, into good friends then best friends throughout the years.

it was greystorm who suggested snowstar create a new clan, and greystorm who helped snowstar through the hardships with the rogues. it was greystorm who had helped snowstar realize he loved his friend - and the two quickly became mates.

the only time they ever step onto rocky ground is over greystorm's pride, bossiness, and stubbornness, and whenever snowstar helps out other cats that greystorm does not believe need or want helping.

Level 2 - Describe your clan's reputation

Postby eel. » Mon Apr 22, 2019 3:18 pm

Thoughtful: GullClan cats are said to be extremely thoughtful and it is said that they always think through large decisions. They are also said to be really bad with short ultimatums, and this is generally true. It also helps GullClan cats as their well-thought decisions pay off. However, it is extremely annoying when you spend sun-cycles on a decision and your choice doesn't 'work' or someone else chose for you.

Intelligent: This can be a broad term, but is pinned on GullClan for many reasons. The cats here learn how to speak 'Yip', as they call it - the dog language; thereby understanding dogs and wolves, and, to a degree, foxes. They are also survivors in the fact that they live on an island with little fresh water, and you need smarts to survive, no?

Brave: You could stick this in with courageous, hot-head, and dare-devil; this term is only pinned on GullClan as they live in a territory with wolves, foxes, and twolegs (sometimes). However, GullClan never goes looking for trouble and will stay peaceful with their enemies until it is absolutely necessary to have a battle. So brave may not be the best description.

Cowardliness: A term not commonly used. There is good meaning behind it, though, as GullClan never will fight unless necessary for the survival of the clan.

Observant: This is another uncommon term to hear, as it applies to about half of the Clan. Many cats can notice things others typically wouldn't, like the flight pattern of gulls that make up some of the food for the Clan, or how the waves get stronger right before a storm. These more observant cats are called Clawreaders, and have their own dedicated rank. Otherwise, GullClan cats can be quite oblivious.

So, all in all, GullClan cats are seen in different ways by different views, but are generally thought to be kind, brave cats.

Summer Event - Dark Skies

Postby eel. » Sat Aug 10, 2019 6:25 am

snowstar opened one eye to see hecate and the oracle through the fog of sleep that slowly grew lighter.
'hecate?' he yawned. 'oracle? are you here with hook?'

hecate shook her head. 'no, you see. that's part of the problem - '

she was cut off as greystorm rushed into the den, lichen rustling. 'snowstar, i'm so sorry!' he growled, shooting a venomous look at the two rogues. 'i know you said no castaways in the camp, but they said it was urgent so i asked where hook was, and they said not here, so i tried to block them, but - '

snowstar shot his mate a look to shut the tabby up, and the deputy shuffled his paws, embarrassed. snowstar was completely awake by this point and he turned back to hecate and the oracle. 'what is this urgent business? and why are you here instead of hook?' he shot a look at the oracle. 'especially you?'

'what we were telling you before we were so rudely interrupted,' started hecate, casting a pointed glance at greystorm, 'is that we come here with urgent news from the stars. and well, the news that two days ago, hook went missing, and we didn't realize until we were all on the boat to this island.'

'what now?' asked snowstar, unsure if he had heard correctly. 'explain. and greystorm, please fetch heronstep for me. i want to know if she has been spoken to.'

as greystorm bounded off, hecate and the oracle explained how hook had been leading them onto the boat one minute, but wasn't there when the boat pushed off - and was nowhere to be seen on the beach or docks, either. this snowstar found odd - hook would never miss a chance to come to the island. the oracle also explained that the stars had warned him of a huge danger yet to come - to gullclan and to the rogue group themselves. by this point heronstep and greystorm had arrived and listened to part of the story.

'i've heard nothing from starclan.' worried heronstep, looking slightly distraught (though she almost always looked distraught or worried).

'what could this threat be?' questioned greystorm, glancing at hecate.

'how am I supposed to know?' she asked, sounding exasperated. 'the stars have a tendency to be unnecessarily vague.'

snowstar frowned for a moment while contemplating this. 'a flood, maybe?' he dismissed the thought immediately. 'there hasn't been enough rainfall to fill the river, much less the whole ocean. the wolves, maybe?'

heronstep and the oracle shivered, but greystorm shook his head. 'juniperclaw, hollyfur, and i all renewed the peace treaty three days ago. the wolves are happy.'

snowstar shot hecate a look. 'none of the castaways have set paw on wolf territory, have they?'

hecate shook her head, looking slightly outraged. 'none of us are that stupid! besides, the wolves didn't take hook - didn't cause her to disappear. i'm sure this danger has something to do with her disappearing!'

snowstar nodded before turning his eyes to his medicine cat. 'heronstep, what do you think?'

the molly took a breath before saying, 'i know it does. i haven't even seen starclan territory in a moon - but hook's face is always looming in my dreams. evil spirits are awakening, that's all i can guess.'

well that was worrying.

Summer Event - Pestilence Roams

Postby eel. » Sat Aug 10, 2019 6:27 am

snowstar let the words of the prophecy march around in his head. hecate and the oracle had already ran off somewhere, and snowstar shut his eyes tight to block out the world.

the world decided it did not want to be left out.

'so...no wolves then?'

snowstar knew heronstep was trying to be positive, but her fears were an underlying current on her word.

opening his eyes again, the leader let out a deep breath. 'i'm not going to pretend some of the meaning of that wasn't obvious.' he mewed, locking gazes with his deputy then medicine cat in return. 'pestilence...sickness then?'

greystorm and heronstep both nodded, looking at their paws.

snowstar hissed. 'but what kind? why does starclan always have to be so vague!?'.

the other two cats in the den looked at him, uncertainty sparkling in their eyes. 'i can try to speak with starclan.' heronstep suggested. 'they haven't been answering recently, but now...who knows?'

she edged out of the den when neither greystorm or snowstar said anything, and bounded off.

snowstar sat in silent contemplation for a moment. gullclan was small - too small for snowstar's liking. if sickness hit...how many would die?

and why warn the clan and the rogues? they had never been warned of greencough or the strange sickness that had hit the fish long ago. whatever the sickness was, it must have been serious for starclan to tell them about it.

and the rogues! he understood they wanted to find their leader - they wanted to find hook - but why were they still on the island when they could be running back to the mainland? unless...

'you've come up with something, haven't you?' greystorm asked snowstar, noticing the spark in his eyes.

'yes, but it's not anything positive.'

'well, some ideas are better then none, am i right?'

'not always. but i was thinking - the rogues - we - could take one of the boats back to the mainland. so why didn't the rogues go running as soon as they heard this?'

greystorm got it just as snowstar said it: 'the boat left. early.'

greystorm sucked in a breath. 'so you're thinking...the twolegs might have something to do with this? or they might know about it? and that's why they left?'

'it's my guess.' admitted snowstar, sighing. 'but we don't know for sure the boat is gone. when you take the dawn patrol out, check to see if it is still there - and if you see any castaways on our territory, make sure they know their rightful place - not in our territory.'

snowstar left the last word of his thought silent. yet.

greystorm dipped his head and touched his nose to his leader's - his mate's - cheek before hurrying out to catch up on a little rest before dawn. snowstar curled up as well.

in order to survive this, it sounds like we need the help of the rogues. i think - i think two will have to become one.

and with that, snowstar fell into an uneasy dose, the words of the prophecy circling around in his head like buzzards circling carrion.
