___________________________________➤ additionals ❞moodboardPersonality blurbAbe is often described as a merry young fellow who practically shines his own light. Whenever the older folk of the town see him riding in, they can never help but to scoff (only to smirk when he's not looking). He just holds such free and happy aura, it's hard not to share in his jovialness while he's around. While he can get little too... perhaps energetic for the older folk, he always tries to be courteous to others, and can often be seen lending a helping hand. Almost every building has had some of Abe's handiwork done on it. practically every soul in town has said "What a kind-hearted young man!". However, Abe's kindness often leads to him being somewhat of a pushover, and he was never much of an arguer. Thus, he suffers a lot of prodding, whether it is from an elder trying to force their own beliefs on him, or someone who has rebelled against Abe's friendliness. While he tries his hardest to face such things, his energy for this depletes quickly, and he opts to duck out of conflict instead. Despite this, he still remains as pleasant as ever.

history
and here begins the tale of how the hushed life of Abraham Smith spiraled into something a little less quiet...
______________________________________________________
When Abraham wakes this fine morning, he does so peacefully. The sheets are securely fastened around him like a cocoon (as they should be), and his pillow has somehow ended up on the floor (again). While Abe would argue his bed is the comfiest thing to exist, the crick in his back never fails to contradict. With a stretch that elicits a symphony of cracks in his back (he's barely twenty-four there's no reason for his back to act like he's fifty), he begrudgingly leaves the confines of warmth. In a little over five minutes, he manages to make the bed and slide out of his nightwear and into his normal clothes. On the way out of his room, he happens to catch a glimpse of himself in the mirror, only to grimace the ever-growing assortment of holes in his coat. He'll get a new one soon he promises himself for the millionth time.
Uneventful is the only way to describe his breakfast, the only thing worth noting is his depleted milk supply. He'll have to ride into town today. Grabbing his hat from the hook by the door, he steps out into the beating sun. Glancing at the sky, he deduces it's early afternoon. Perfect time to head into the small establishment of Sudburry.
Abe briefly considers saddling up his horse (a gorgeous dapple-grey mare named whitefeather) but ultimately decides against it. He'll leave her to graze another day. Throwing a smile her way and earning a whinny in return, the young man starts the short journey to Sudburry.
The town is bustling, which quite surprising. Usually, only a few people are outside in the heat of the day. Abe doesn't mind. A few "hello's" are tossed is way as he passes through, he nods with a smile in return. His pace is slow and languid, he's in no rush as he approaches the small designated trading area.
"Mornin' Smith," Drones out a woman in her fifties. Abe grins at Beatris, the lovely woman who sells him his milk and is gracious enough to handle his shenanigans. Her face stays as hard as stone.
"Mornin Bee, how's my favourite merchant?" Abe asks with a now coy smile. Beatris only rolls her eyes and hides a smile as she turns to retrieve the thing which Abe so desires.
"Come now Abe, we both know your true favourite merchant is standing right over there," Slamming the two jugs of milk on the table, Beatris juts her chin out to the direction of the said merchant. With his stature turning shy, Abraham turns his head slowly to the Coil twins' table. A small young lady with flowing brown hair smiles at the person in front of her, handing over her coveted vegetables. However, Abe looks past her to the scrawny chap with scraggly brown hair, her brother. The catch each other's gaze for a moment before the boy's face turns red and he hurries away with his box of corn. Abe turns his head back to face Bee, who's now grinning at him like the devil. Abe shrinks into himself.
"Nice talkin' to ya, Bee, but I best be headed off now," And with the nod of his head, Abraham grabs the milk jugs with and arm and tries to subtly make his way over the Coil's table. Sally dramatically rolls her eyes when she sees Abe coming.
"You know as much as I love when my brother can barely hold himself together when you're around, I wish you would get yourself together and man up instead of making googly eyes at him all the time." Sally juts her hip out while folding her arms.
"Now, now, Sal, that's not a very nice way to greet a customer." Abe says with a lopsided smile, Anyways, do you happen to have any corn laying around?" Sally rolls her eyes for the second time.
"Yeah, I'll get my brother to assist you," Sally calls for her twin and swiftly disappears behind her boxes of vegetables. Soon the scraggly-haired boy gets pushed out from behind the boxes and begins to wobble over to Abe.
I- uh, heard you want some corn..." He mumbles while looking at the ground. Abe smiles while gathering in breath to reply. Suddenly a gunshot rings through the air and before he even knows it, he's ducked low to the ground.
The sound of chaos fills Abe's ears. People are running, stands are being knocked over. Abe is stunned, frozen in place. He can barely even breathe, but he knows he has to move. Slowly, he crawls from the front of the vegetable stand to the back, only to find the boy was gone, as well as Sally. He doesn't hear much from the other side, but to play it safe he tiptoes behind the crates and hopefully make a dash for it. He holds his breath in before launching himself into the open. He sees people rushing indoors and for cover but the street is empty. He still keeps on going. Glancing back, he noticed the trading post is empty. Suddenly he runs right into someone. luckily they both steady themselves and Abe takes a look at the person in front of him. It's someone he's never seen before.
"Listen, man, you gotta get out of here. You understand? Get out! Go!" The man yells in his face. With confusion heavy in his mind, he blindly listens. His feet are carrying him away before he even begins to think.
Time passes, and Abe finds himself curled up in his bed. Worry is snaked tightly around his stomach. He has no idea what happened and still doesn't. Half the night has already gone, but his mind keeps him awake. The house is silent. Or so he thought. The wood of his floors creaks ever so slight. Quietly getting up off his bed, Abe grabs his belt (with his two pistols holstered) and his discarded clothes from the day. Pulling his jacket on he creeps to his bedroom door. A shadow slinks in from the front door. Fear spears his heart and he doesn't even spare thought before ripping open his window and hopping out.
Abe rolls on the ground before shooting up and off to his stable. Much to his horror, Whitefeather is missing and the gate left open. Obviously, someone didn't want him getting away. Casting one last look at his house, he flees.
Abraham spent the night ten miles away from his house, on the hard ground. Only the cacti and rocks to accompany him. It's midday now, and his stomach calls for food. A sigh leaves his lips. He knows he can't go back to his house, but part of him almost wishes too. However, the fear of confrontation chokes any strong will he had. He'll have to settle for going to the town first. He's sure someone will have answers there.
A ghostly aura fills the place. Very few are seen, and many of the town's establishments are closed. Something awful must have fallen once Abe left yesterday. And the very few who are outside flee upon the sight of him. His brow furrows. Finally, he decides to head to the sheriff's office. While passing by the wall where most information is posted, Abe stops dead in his tracks. A new wanted poster has been nailed to the wall. Bile rises in his throat once he realizes it's himself staring back at him.

He can't even fathom what in tarnation is going on here. However, before he can begin to understand, the doors of the building swing open. Panic shoots through and he books it the opposite direction, his own wanted poster in hand.
It feels like hours have passed as Abraham runs. He doesn't even know where he's running to. Just not towards his home and away from Sudburry. His legs scream at him to stop and his chest burns, but he pushes himself further. That was his first mistake. With no water and food in his system, his vision darkens and before he can react, his foot collides with a rock and he's sent rolling down a hill. He tries to lift himself up, but his body rejects it and gives in on itself.
Cold. That's what he feels when he first rouses. Then his eyes open, and what seems to be a man is standing over him with a gun- A gun? Abe jolts up with his hands in the air but flinches when he feels the aches of his legs.
"morning sunshine," says an older fellow. "You're Abraham smith?" Abe frowns in questioning. The man gestures to the forgotten wanted poster on the ground. Then it dawns on him.
"Listen, I swear, I have no idea what I did but it wasn't nothin' bad," Abraham pleads
The man lowers his shotgun "No worries, son, I know." Tilting his head, Abe begins to ask how but the man cuts him off. "Come, you look like you need a drink. I'm Ramsey by the way. I'll explain what happened."
Over a few glasses of water (which Abe guzzles), Ramsey tells him of a boy named Billy who goes from town to town changing his identity. He always frames someone in the town for a heinous crime so he can lead the sheriffs off his scent. In this case, it was him. Ramsey then tells him he was once that person. However, he went straight to the sheriff and pleaded innocent. He suggested Abe do the same before this goes too far. While reading off his wanted poster, he sees he's been accused of murder. He can barely breathe.
However, before Abe can truly pass out, Ramsey forces him out the door and onto a horse. He says he'll have to lat Abe off a mile from the town, just not to be seen, but if need be, he'll come to save him things turn sour.
And that's how Abraham Smith ends up walking into Sudburry with nothing but the clothes on his back and his two pistols. He isn't planning on doing any shooting, however, they're more for confidence. He seriously wishes he was just at home eat porridge right now.
Everyone stops to stare at him walking in.

Abraham Smith! You have been convicted of murder and will be detained Immediately, you are legally required to drop your weapons now!"
Abraham's face straightens and he reaches for his pistol, much to the crowd's anticipation. However, instead of grabbing the guns, he unclips his belt and lets it drop to the ground.
"I did not do what you claim! I didn't even have my pistols with me yesterday, Beatris Briar can testify to that! The real man you're looking for is named Billy Kit, and he's right there." Abe then points to the same man he ran into the other day. Billy's eyes squint before he turns tail and books it. The sheriff and his officers chase after him
Relief floods his chest, and can't help but to deflate. The crowd soon disperses, however, only one person remains. Sally's brother rushes over to him with a grin. Abe can't help but grin stupidly back
