personality
difficult to get to know on a personal level, julius is an adventurous and fun loving person with a desire to conquer the world of eventing. he is a gentle soul but has trouble trusting those around him and although he will happily make friends, he picks and chooses the ones he holds close to him very carefully but it important to him that everyone feel welcome and accepted in his presence. despite his sweet nature, julius can be rather defensive and has been known to jump to conclusions with his tendency to explode out of nowhere; when angry, he is aggressive and best avoided. although he is very social, jules enjoys having time to spend with himself and genuinely enjoys being in his own company. being a true animal lover, julius has a passion to care for all creatures big and small and is a 'catch-the-spider-and-put-him-outside' type of person who would never wish harm upon anyone or anything, although he has been known to hold grudges older than time its self.
history
born and raised in ireland, julius started his riding career as a young child on cob type horses. his first passion was jumping but at the age of ten, he got to go cross country schooling for the first time on his lesson pony and instantly fell in love. his early life was spent with his two older sisters and their father in a small rural home, he hadn't seen his mother since he was three and couldn't remembered her but knew his older sisters (two and four years older than him) struggled with the separation. much of his early childhood was spent at the mercy of his sisters, who dressed him up and shaped his bubbly and humorous personality; to this day he loves them more than anything else in the world. when he was eleven, julius was sent away to an all boys school as his father had gotten a job that required him to be sent away for months at a time and it was here that he really got to further his riding skills as the school had their own equestrian team. julius started eventing but competed mostly in the show jumping team until he was sixteen, when he was persuaded to pursue his skills. eventually, the teen got to move back home to live with his father after changed jobs to something more local and moved back to his old stable. it was shortly after this he officially bought his own first horse, an out of work, fifteen year old thoroughbred gelding who had previously competed at low level eventing but 'had potential to go further'. it was not a smart purchase but the young man made a go of it and worked his heart out until the pair were eventually doing well enough. but with the idea of university and his life looming ahead of him, julius put competing on the back burner and decided to go to uni in the hope to become a lawyer. at the age of twenty, he moved to america but found that he didn't have the motivation to be a lawyer and went back to his roots of horses, got a job at a racing stable as a trainer and at the age of twenty two, got back into eventing. then he found his place here.

bold, adventurous and very confident, hugo is an incredible stallion with hopes to one day compete in the olympics as not only does he have a trainable mind and natural talent, hugo has incredible breeding and will one day create some incredible foals. affectionate and extremely tolerant, the flashy stallion acts more like a gelding than anything else and is the type that really keeps his mind on the job even when the air around him is full of distractions. due to julius's mind set that a stallion should only be a stallion if he meets certain criteria means that the young appaloosa has impeccable manners both undersaddle and on the ground; he could be trusted the carry a three year old child around the arena with no issues. hugo, with his talent and attractive personality, will one day be an unbeatable horse and amazing sire.
history
born and bred to be something great, hugo has been handled since the day he hit the ground and has been set up to be an amazing horse in the future. despite being handled from a young age, hugo's education undersaddle has been dealt with slowly and with great considerations, giving him an incredible foundation that gave his mind and body time to grow and mature. hugo had been free jumped as a three and four year old but only really started over any jumps of substantial size under saddle once he was five in hopes to keep him sound and safe to old age. although he is a great performance horse, in order to keep him sane, his breeder had trainers take him out on trails, either being ridden or ponied out with other horses and it seemed to contribute to his level headed-ness. a little less than a year ago, hugo was bought by julius and has been with him ever since and probably will be for a long time.

okay so fun fact for clarification purposes of my female character gypsy. she’s the adopted daughter of the Westbrook’s so she’s been living in the ranch house longer than the rest of the riders. I was thinking she’d have had her parents turn the attic into a loft bedroom where she stays so she’s got some privacy. So I’m planning in her being a bit of a spiritual hippie type; balances chakras, wears crystals, etc. She definitely believes in ghosts and spirits and things and has seen apparitions/etc at the house before. She feels like they respect her because she respects them but is likely to snap at someone if she finds them being disrespectful to the spirits in any way because she fears that disrespect could put them all, animals included, in danger if the spirits are angered. Cools?
