At first, Tanner simply continued to stare. He didn't seem to have believed her words, and they were slowly beginning to settle into his mind. 1812...she just said she was from 1812. He felt numb, almost, and his mind was buzzing. He had about a thousand questions burning on his tongue, but he kept quiet while he let all of this process. Tanner still thought that this girl had to be crazy, but he would say nothing about it, for now.

"It's...it's 2011," Tanner felt himself finally say. Although, he felt as if his brain wasn't attatched to the rest of his body, and that his tongue was doing whatever it wanted. "A-are you really from London? From 1812?" he said. His voice was only a notch above a whisper, and could barely be heard above the rain, but he spoke just loud enough for the girl-and only the girl-to hear. After all, if someone were to hear their conversation, they would think of both of the teenagers as crazy. True, the girl was undoubtably(sp?) crazy now, but Tanner didn't want himself marked as that as well.

Tanner only nodded slightly when he was told not to say a word about her clothes; or, at least, that is what she thought he said. It was fairly difficult to understand what she was saying when she used words such as those. Tanner suddenly realized that the two of them were getting soaked. Tanner's dark hair was plastered to his face, and he used his hand to swipe it from his face. "Er...maybe we should go take shelter from the storm?" he offered softly, one eyebrow raised questioningly at her. What with her heavy clothing, it didn't seem as if she was having such a great time getting wet.

Until then, Tanner had forgotten about his mother. At any moment, she could come around the corner. Sure, lately she had stopped looking for him. However, after a fight like that, perhaps she would want to come look for him, to apoligize. Tanner couldn't have that. Not now, especially. He wanted to get to the bottom of this. Despite thinking the girl was crazy, he wanted to know if there was any truth behind her story.

(( Thanks for understanding. ^^

Janel was unphased by is doubt. He would doubt wouldn't he? She thought as the rain kept soaking her to the core. "Yes, I am from a town near London in 1812..Why do you make me repeat it?" The nerve of the boy was annoying the time traveler. 2011, that would be two hundred years almost...Janel was deep in thought when she heard the boy talk about getting out of the storm. That was the best thing that he had said in this little meeting. Janel thought with a rolling of her eyes. "Sorry." She said apologizing for her rude behavior, back home, that was not acceptable at all.

"I don't know if you are going to be judgmental, but my name is Janel Currington." The truth was she didn't know if he was going to judge her name. A name was a name, it was something given to you at, or sometimes before birth. You had no control of it, you had no say. Why should people be judged by their name? The parents should be judged, not the children.

When she was at home, Janel used to love running out in the rain to play. It drove her mother crazy, that is mostly why she did it. Having fun, and slowly driving her horrid mother insane was a good thing. This was here, and not there..Keep that in check The girl told herself slowly, she didn't think she should let go just yet

Tanner rolled his eyes in return to her remark. "Well, I'm just so sorry that the idea of time-travel is hard to believe. People aren't as crazy as apparently people like you were back that, and things like that come as hard to believe, to us sane folk." Tanner's voice was still slightly hushed, but loud enough to be heard over the rain. When she said she was sorry, he waved away her apology and simply shook his head.

At her name, Tanner couldn't help but crack a small, ghost of a smile. He quickly turned away and ducked his head to hide it, not wanting to see too rude. Plus, he didn't want this girl to leave because of his attitude. Tanner wanted to get to the bottom of this whole situation. "I see," he said over his shoulder, nodding once. "That's...well, a rather different name," he noted, speaking his mind. "I'm Tanner Plettcher," he added quickly, figuring it would be best to tell her his name as well.

Turning on his heel, he strode into the nearest place where they could talk quietly. A small diner that was practically empty, except for a few insane people who actually enjoyed going out to eat in a storm like this. Sitting down in a booth, he waved Janel over.

(( Ah, I know how you feel. :c ))

Hm.. Janel thought about following Tanner, and she went with that thought. It seemed strange how you could trust someone, or could she trust him? As he went inide some place with seats in it..Janel decided to go looking at the decoration, chairs, and tables. ”Interesting..” The girl said as she sat down. ”What is this place?” Janel wasn’t too stupid, she knew that she smelled food in the place. ”I smell food, strange food, but food. Am I correct?” Janel wasn’t too sure, so many things confused her now.

After slowly examining the table, and the things on it, she thought about asking what they were. ”What are these things?” Janel knew that she sounded stupid, that was a given.. Why did this boy even talk to her? She doubted he believed her story, but who really cared now? She didn’t in the slightest. It seemed strange how you could end up in another’s world so easily. It all started because she was just trying to clean.. That was a mistake apparently. Last time I clean someone’s things.

Up until now, Janel had been living an ok life. They had money, a few horses, a house, and the only thing she didn't like was her mother. Whenever Janel went into town, she was greeted kindly by other passers by. It was a small town, and most everyone knew each other. Her house wasn't the biggest or best, but Janel loved it anyway. It was what she grew up in and treasured, now she longed for that home. Even if my mother is still there.

The new world, it was strange..It is strange, Janel reminded herself. She needed to know what it was like here. It was just .."Ah!" Janel said as her hair OCD kicked in. She took her small hands and made her hair parted on each side evenly. Everything was out of her face now, and she would be able to get out of her little thought about home. Think about now, and now only, she reassured herself.

(( Ahh, sorry. I was working on the Writing Competition. D: ))

"Er, it's called a resturaunt," Tanner explained softly. He knew that they didn't have the same types of places back when Janel had lived, but it still felt rather odd to be explaining to her these things. Things that normally any sane, normal person would know about. At least, that was how it was in this time period. It just felt rather strange to be explaining these simple, normal things as if they were something foreign. Which, in Janel's case, he supposed, they were.

As Janel questioned the things that surrounded him, Tanner actually had trouble explaining some of the things. Sure, some thiings were quite simple to explain to the girl. "Well, that's a menu. When the waitress comes and takes you order, you look on that, and it tells you the types of foods you can order." However, some things were more difficult. Tanner had known what they were, and what they could do, since he was a little kid. He'd never had it explained to him, exactly. "Er, thats salt and pepper shakers. They...well, they contain salt and pepper, which you put on your food to make it taste better." He had never imagined talking about such simple things could be so difficult.

Leaning back in his seat in the booth, Tanner studied the girl. "How did you get here?" he found himself suddenly asking. He couldn't help himself, nor could he contain his curiosity.

Janel didn't know what to say really, "salt?" That was all she could say. "Even we had salt.." In truth, the girl was rejoicing another thing that seemed familiar. "I was dusting off an egg, and I got knocked out." The girl took a few moments to think about why in the world she got here. "Then I woke up here, it was raining, storming, and I started walking." The memories were starting to get blurry. "I don't have my horse, my money, my things! All I have is my handkerchief! It's still damp, but at least I have something." On closer examination, the folded part was covered in some sort of rainbow dust. "What in the world is this?"

The dust fell onto the table, and Janel panicked. "Uh. Get something white to put this on." Is this dust the thing that sent me here? Janel wondered this for a while. Could it get me back? "I said I wanted to get away from there, but I didn't mean this far..What am I to do? I have no place to live, no money, and I don't even fully know where I am! You are a help, don't feel like I'm harassing your time..I am, but I'm not.." Janel realized she sounded like a mad man.

The best thing for her to do at the moment would be to shut her trap, and listen to what Tanner had to say. "I'm sorry, I sound crazy, and we are just strangers." Janel put her hands on her face and slumped down on the table. "blajldfjalsaljf;lasd " The curses came out in a crazy jumble, and they were not able to be heard clearly. "Uh!" She didn't know what to do.
