• lapis' birth goes rather smoothly, though it was quite a struggle. on the other hand, she had given birth to four absolutely adorable pups!
• saskia gives birth to three healthy pups! all went well throughout the process, but unfortunately one of them has been stillborn.
• dellia, nyx, solange, elnaam, sora, and lucius return with a raccoon and a vole from their hunting patrol.
• persephone, ece, devane, maisie, hector, and vista return with a marmot from their hunting patrol.
• farah, ambrosia, atlas, silivus, eloise, and altheo encounter a rogue on their patrol! they fought to defend the kennel, and they succeeded.

↪ however, silivus was left injured with a small fracture in his leg. he will need cobwebs to temporarily hold the leg in place until it heals over a two moon period of rest.
• luminita gathers rush from their herb-hunting patrol.
• tatius and hector successfully learn tracking.

iiindentA fine, soft mist curls and billows around massive, strong paws as the massive canine slumbers in the grass. His ears twitch, before his eyes open and he raised his head──looking around, his surroundings unfamiliar. The trees here are tall pines──and the air seems to be still, with the absence of breezes. Slowly, the canine shifts, getting to his paws, standing tall and regal. Everything about him shows power──the rippling of muscles underneath his glossy, healthy coat, his massive paws and strong haunches. Cautiously he begins to walk through the forest, though he hears not a sound. It’s odd for a forest──there is no sound of scampering feet of prey on the ground, nor the chirping of birds in the pines. However──he pauses, going still, as a branch snaps nearby. His ears twitch at the sound. And low growl begins to rumble in his throat. ”Who’s there? Show yourself.” There is a short pause.

iiindentBut then a collie steps out of the brush from where he had heard the branch snap. And it carries itself proudly, it’s bright blue eyes meeting his own steadily and without fear. But something about it almost seems transparent──and he noticed the stars glittering in its fur, the silver that outlined its ears, it’s paws. And then it’s dawns on him who this is, who is standing right in front of him. And he dips his head respectfully. ”Amou.” He greets the collie quietly. Amou, as his parents had told him──meant eagle wolf in French. And that he is the god who made everything, from the grass underneath their paws to the sun high in the sky. His parents believed firmly in Amou──and as it had turned out, the god was real. Amou studies him for a moment, before he spoke.

iiindent”Welcome, Frederic, King of the House of Valois.”

iiindentFrederic raises his head──and Amou inclines his regal head for him to follow. And so he does, though struggles a bit to keep up──the god, true to his breed, has quick, swift paws as they weave through the pines. Soon enough, the pine trees change to oak──more like the forest that houses Chateau VII, his home. Their quick pace begins to slow as they near a small pond, which is identical to the one where he had fallen asleep beside, and they stop beside it. Amou turns to Frederic, his gaze wise. ”Whenever you must talk to me, you must rest beside this pond, and I will visit your dreams as I am doing now.” Frederic’s eyes shift from Amou to the pond, watching the brightly-colored koi dart and flash through the water. ”Lead you kennel well. When you wake, you will find two dogs waiting for you in Chateau VII. Welcome them. And become the best King Valois will ever have.”

iiindent”When do you think he will arrive?” The female’s question is quiet, though it still echoes in the spacious room of the chateau. She is curled on the ground, around her stomach which is full with unborn pups, of which will arrive in the next two moons. Her mate sits beside her, alert and his ears pricked, eyes on the doors, waiting for their leader to walk through. But he tears his watchful gaze from the doors to his mate, leaning down to lick her nose fondly. ”Patience, Lassie. He will come, but only after he is finished meeting with Amou.” Lassie sighs softly, but can’t help it as her tail thumps against the ground from his lick. ”Okay, Colt. I trust you. . .and I trust Amou.”

the canines of the tropics live on a fictional island, like those of hawaii. t
he island is picturesque───the beach has white sand and clear, transpare
nt water, serene and calm apart from the waves, and quite the popular pl
ace for the canines to relax. and the forest is lush and bursting with gree
n, plentiful in prey with brightly-colored birds, such as macaws and touc
ans in the trees. inside the forest, there are multiple ponds and little riv
ers with clean water scattered throughout. generally, the canines of the
tropics live comfortable lives.

it was always obvious when a storm was coming in. the ocean would get rowdy and the wild hogs and ponies would treat themselves to the comfort of the forest and it's canopy, shielding themselves behind fallen trees from the salty wind that whipped against their fur and faces. the skies only got darker and darker as the storms got closer, and when they finally did it, they were nothing short of merciless.

specter and the rest of the eidolon dogs usually hunkered down and waited out the storm, but not this time. this was the annual ancestral storm. both the pack ancestors and the ground ancestors were wildly active during this time, soothing the hearts and souls of the eidolon dogs through crashing waves and thunder.

"specter, what's the plan for this one? the skies look awfully dark."

specter was sat on the top of the overhang, staring out at the ocean below him. his gaze turned from the churning seas to an irontooth. "can you not feel it, daxon? this storm is filled with the energy of all of our ancestors and surely you can feel yours speaking to you." the shepherd stood, stretching his legs before turning fully to face the irontooth. "tonight, when the storm hits the beaches, daxon, you'll be able to hear the songs of your ancestors. their howls will float with the wind and their barks with the thunder and the waves. the ancestral storm is a blessing to us."

daxon snorted quietly, gazing up at the alpha. "i don't have much faith in my ancestors visiting me, padrone." specter narrowed his eyes, leaning in towards the dog.

"if your faith falters, child, you will never hear them. you will never tell the stories of your great grandpaw before you and his own great grandpaw. trust in the winds, daxon. i'll see you at dawn." without another word, specter turned and headed for the center of his pack's camp.

under the canopy in the forest, othello was sat with his front paws stretched out in front of him in an almost downward dog pose.
"othello, what are you doing?"

the shaman opened one eye, catching a glimpse of the small fledgling that was disrupting his peace. "meditating, thyme. do you need something, underling?"

the young fledgling sputtered, furrowing her eyebrows up at the shaman. "i want to learn about herbs, othello. i want to be just like you and the shamans before you."

it was othello's turn to furrow his brows. he stood, lowering his head to be face to face with the fledgling. "the shaman life is not for the average dog, child. your muscular build and strong head are designed for a world of defense and strength," he said, gazing upon the female's wide skull. "you are more than welcome to learn about the herbs alongside me, thyme, but do not overstep the line between your role as irontooth-fledgling and your desired role of shaman-fledgling. you are where you are for a reason, my child."

"well why can't i be a shaman, othello? i can learn about the herbs just like you and heal the other dogs just like you."

"having faith in yourself is important, yes, and i, too, believe that you could, but the stars are aligned in such a way that you were meant to be an irontooth, thyme. when your ceremony comes, you will be visited by your pack ancestors and they will help guide the way for you. ask your trainer about it, child. i swear it all. you'll-"

"othello. are your herbs all in order, shaman?" specter had finally reached the middle of camp, greeting the lead shaman and his own fledgling with a nod of his head. othello nodded in return, turning himself to face the commander.

"yes, sire. the few herbs we've for now are carefully packed away in he highest den. there is no chance of damage during the ancestral storm."

the dogs of eidolon were not always so serious and well-kept. the ancestral storm was no joking matter, and it was the one time a year that the dogs could fully communicate with their pack ancestors, and where the royal party, more specifically the alpha, their mate, and the lead shaman, could communicate with the ground ancestors. this was a time of prophecies and foreshadowing the future of eidolon.

( Yana's patrol is able to track down the bobcat near the edge of their territory, their stomach growling for food)

↪ While it may roughly be the same size height-wise as most of the dogs on the patrol, it certainly has a build for fighting. While menacing, it appears that the bobcat only wants a taste of the prey animals that dwell within the territory rather than having conflict with a group of canines, but the wild felidae has no choice but to fight back ── Yana's patrol is successfully able to chase off the bobcat, but with Cephas coming back to camp with an awfully painful limp in his back leg from the bobcat. He will need x1 marigold and x1 poppy seeds in order to recover

↪ The patrol had worked hard to bring back the prey to their kennel. The vole had appeared to have a knack for speeding off into the distance, and for such a small creature, it took an uncommonly long period of time before the patrol was able to bring back the swift and tiny rodent. Was the effort taken worth it? Well ─ prey is prey, and there will never be complaining for that.

↪ While the hunt wasn't as successful as they may have wanted it to be, they had caught onto something much more excitable. The distinctive scent of an elk had filled the air, and it was quite fresh. It must be still in the territory somewhere, and if the Mountain Men work quickly, they may receive the opportunity to get their paws on a large piece of prey that will fill the entire kennel up. Will they go? If so, they must bring 6 dogs (no seconds) to take on the elk.
( Epione manages to collect x1 marigold as well as x1 juniper berries while gathering )

↪ The summer warmth makes for an abundance of plants. It would've definitely been nicer to gather a couple more herbs, though Cephas' injury had made Epione unable to continue. While he did manage to get a rather fine haul, his main focus should be the health of Cephas and his wounds.
( Leto and Styx both learn the tracking skill! )

↪ For their first moon of training, both Leto and Styx did a mighty fine job. While they may have been rather puzzled here and there, they overall seem to be fast learners. At this rate, both Styx and Leto will become outstanding members of the Mountain Men.

↪ The newcomer appears to be quite bemused at first, though hesitantly develops an interest in joining the kennel, no matter how small it may be at this point. They appear loyal enough, but are they truly? It will be a matter of time before Nemesis finds out, but for now, their help is needed. (Remember next time that only the alpha is able to request dogs! C:)

↪ While Fenrir was too young to assist in much, the smell of the unknown canine intrigues them both. The mother and son is able to successfully track down the scent, which leads to a german shorthaired pointer loner, while skittish at first, offers to join the kennel. Will you accept or reject their offer?

↪ The loner appears to have just left the sight of the dogs moments ago, as their scent is greatly fresh. Will they pursue the scent? Or will they let it be for the time being, and not bother?

↪ The hare, while small, had a pair of powerful back thumpers. If it wasn't for Daxon's fast reaction, he easily could've gotten a hard kick onto the nose. Luckily, the patrol was able to drag a couple pieces of prey back to camp with no sore noses at all, but having to deal getting several small pieces of dirt being kicked into a face
( Persephone's patrol is lucky to come back with a large fish )

↪ Similar to Aurelis' patrol, Persephone had gotten splashed in the fact one too many times for her liking. Despite her grumbling, Kentaurus and Ajax were able to get ahold of the large fish after they finished their sneering at Persephone and the fish's burning hatred towards her. In the end, the trio was able to plop a fish onto their fresh-kill pile afterwards.
( Othello is able to find x1 coltsfoot and x1 borage after gathering herbs )

↪ Othello hadn't expected the heat that would've been brought down on him while gathering. With the sun blazing high in the sky, Othello couldn't help but utter several complaints about the heat here and there. Eventually, the shaman was able to return to camp with a small bundle of herbs for future use.
( Specter proves to be quite the magnificent mentor, as Thyme is able to learn the battling skill! )

↪ Younger dogs can certainly be a pawful, and Thyme was no exception. Despite his errors, goofing off and generally being distracted by everything else that wasn't his training, Specter had ended up successfully teaching Thyme a new skill.

The Polemistis live on Paradise Island miles away from normal civilization.
Covered in lush beautiful flora and crawling with a large variety of fauna.
The pack has claimed a mysterious temple as their camp, believing humans
once lived on the island years ago. From the temple is an old worn out path
that leads to the pack's source of water.


The Polemistis is a pack of strong female warriors, lead by one female called
the queen. They worship the Greek Gods, but hail Ares as their main god.
The pack is strongly female oriented, often treating their males as omegas.
The males are kept separate in their own smaller temple, only allowed in the
main temple when a female is interested in having pups.

"I can't believe you're finally old enough to become a full fledged member of the kennel. Now that it is spring, are you going to take your exam?" Ulysses asks Bandit.
"I don't know. I'm pretty nervous for this exam. If I take it now I'll be the only one taking it. If I fail, then I'll be kicked out of the kennel or made into an omega. I don't know if I'm ready for it yet." Bandit had grown quite a lot since he was first paired with Ulysses as his trainee. The ivy around his legs was old and withering. The kennel had to frequently change their ivy and this was Bandit's third wrapping. He didn't want Chi to wrap his legs again but didn't want his ivy to fall off. Bandit sat and stared at his front paws.
Ulysses noticed the decision was weighing heavily on Bandit's mind, so he sat next to the trainee and placed his head on top of the hounds. "I have faith in you. You have done fantastic in our training sessions. You are quick, quiet, and stealthy. You were born for this Bandit. Don't overthink the situation and psych yourself out. You can do this. I believe in you."
Bandit nuzzled his head in Ulysses neck, lovingly. Ulysses licked Bandit's forehead.
"Thank you. I know I can be a handful at times and get upset when I can't get something right away. But you've been patient with me all this time. And even though both of us have lost our heads while training, I have learned a lot from you. I feel like you've taught me everything I need to know for this test and you helped me develop the skills I need to contribute to this kennel. But I'm gonna ask that you be patient with me for a little while longer. I want to take the test with Nova."
Ulysses sighs but nods his head. "I understand. It is easier to hunt in a pack. But I do feel like you don't need the extra dog. You are strong enough on your own."
Bandit waits a moment and replies "I know why you want me to graduate so quickly. I love you so much more than a mentor. I love you more than a friend. And I know you feel the same way. I can see it in your eyes. But kennel rules state that trainees can't be mates with kennel members. We can't choose our mates, Ulysses. That's up to the Commanders."
"But we can make a request. I know Niko will be against it, though. He will say that our pairing will be a waste of two breeding males. Kalta I can see supporting it. And Chi too. But, I'm not sure how Garland will feel about us. He has the most say and if he's against us being mates, then he can deny us with Niko's vote. That's what I'm afraid of." Ulysses lays down with his tail tucked between his legs.
"Then it's a good thing that I'm planning on waiting another month to take the exam. We can talk to the Commanders and plead our story. And if they deny us then at least we will still be in the same division together. I believe in us like you believe in me." Bandit lays next to Ulysses and the two dogs enjoy the spring air together.

"What's you name?" Minerva asks the new dog.
The hovawart replies "Hmm, Captain suits me."
"Captain? Is that your real name?"
"It's now my knew name. I wish to be called Captain," the dog nodded.
Truskett asked him "Have you ever heard of the Rose Grass kennel?"
"I don't believe I have. Why? What is the interest with them?"
"Nothing. They are just a kennel nearby. Where do you come from?"
Captain ignored Truskett's question and was glancing around the scene. Trees began to bud and the grass was popping through what snow that was left from winter. Birds called from the shrubs and trees in the distance.
"Hey, Captain." Truskett called. This snapped the dog into attention. "You seem kind of distracted. Where are you from?"
"Oh, over the mountain. When can I see Garland?"
"How do you know Garland?" Willow asked.
"I don't. But he is the alpha isn't he?"
"...Yes, but how do you know of him?"
"The trees told me. So, are we going to meet with the rest of the kennel?"
The patrol looked at each other with the same confused expression. "Yeah, we'll actually go find Garland." The party of dogs soon found Garland's patrol. After a few introductions, Garland made Captain a Guardian to everyone's surprise.
