Rodney grinned and nodded before raking a hand through his hair, making it look even messier and tuftier than usual. It was a habit of his, he seemed to fluff up his hair often, as if it had some comfort or friendliness about it, it was odd, that's for sure but Rodney never noticed it. Then he smiled at meldoy once again, "Yep we can," he said and nodded.

Ingo had a look, she was really unsure, most of these food s she had barely ever tried enough of to instantly pick. She lived on stolen staple food, even simple meals were a bit of a mystery to her.

"If you don't know what to pick," said Liam with a small smile, "I suggest their clam chowder. Best in all of England, I'd say."

Melody laughed, then reached over and ruffled Rodeny's hair herself with one hand. "Come on, let's get something to eat."

Sonja pulled away from the sailor and bowed from the waist, palms flat to her thighs as she had seen in faraway foreign lands. "Thank you for you help," she said curtly, straightening up again. "Like I said, I've got other things to do. Our ship is docked until nightfall. It's called The Maiden, dark wood with black sails. You can't miss it." She turned on her heel and slunk away, so much like a cat whose pride had been smudged. She made it back to the Blacksmith's shop and sat down, put her head in her hands, and cried in earnest.

Ingo smiled and nodded, "Sounds wonderful," she said, her small smile growing slightly at the prospect, she trusted Liam and even with smal details like this she would follow his advice.

Rodney beamed up at her, "Let's," he added in agreement.

Melody looked him up and down, then bit the inside of one lip. "We look like ragamuffins- they'll never let us in, even if we've got real money to pay with." She untied the scarf from around her head and let her long red hair cascade to thin and bony shoulders, then tied the scarf about her waist as a sash. She rolled down the hem of her skirt to cover bare, dirty feet, and smacked grit from her tunic until it was a respectable gray-white. With just those things, the young actress looked all the more like a respectable, if poor, merchant's daughter. She glanced at Rodney, then joked, "With all the help in the world, though, you'd still look like a little scoundrel."

Rodney grinned, "That's cause I am," Rodney said and smiled innocently. Rodney was a scoundrel, that was exactly the word to describe, well, along with thief, scamp, munckin, ragamuffin and many more. Rodney was your typical boy, always looking for adventure, danger and fun.

"Well," said Melody with a grin, "Today, my dear little ragamuffin, we're to do honest business with the owner of this eating house. That means buying food, not stealing. Come on." She took Rodney's hand and led the boy into the small building, eyes widening at the delicious scent of fried fish.

Rodney smiled and followed her, he didn't like being babied by her holding his hand, but it was a precaution, isf she hand't been holding it goodness only knows what he would have been up to.

Melody put on a poor sad face as she entered, passing by Ingo and Liam as she strode up to the bar with Rodney. "Have you a few scraps for which us could pay, sir?" she asked piteously. "We's poor, and we's got only a bit, but we'd be happy to work to make up what we eat and can't pay."

Ingo was about call out to Rodney, instantly recognising him, but then she heard what they were up to. She soon thought better of it, having your cover blown was the worst thing to happen. Ingo smiled as she saw Rodney and Melody though, she hadn't seen her little friend in a while, he had tried to steal from her several times, all of which he successfully did so only to be roobed once again by the girl.

Rodney looked up with sorrowful, pleading eyes, not too needy, but getting the balance right between beggar and customer. He said nothing though in case he blew it completely, Rodney was unsure of exactly what to say.

Melody played the pity chord just right, and although the owner was made of sterner stuff, his wife came out from the back at an opportune moment. She was a large woman, with a kind and motherly expression on her face. "Jonathon," she said when she saw the children, "Are you going to turn them down? Send them away/ Look at the poor hungry young things..." she seemed almost moved to tears as she came around the bar and swept both of them up into a rib-crushing hug. "Don't worry, my darlings, you can pay a little and we'll see what you can do to make up the rest."

Liam saw a spark in Ingo's eyes when two children came in, and glanced from them to her. "Do you know them?" he asked her quietly, his voice almost inaudible above Melody's squeak as the air was hugged out of her.
