Activity 1|| Patrolling

Postby Chimericect » Thu Feb 28, 2019 4:26 am

“Why do we have to go patrolling?” Ren sighed, stretching out somewhat bitterly. “At least this early in the morning. I’m not a fan of early rising.”

“Because we said we would! Or, I volunteered us.” Seraph responded. “We have to do something.”

“But like, you’re the Palatine. You don’t have to do anything.”

“Just because I lead everyone doesn’t exempt me from doing duties. I have a job to fulfill like everyone else! Besides, it’s nice to patrol every so often.”

“Yeah, I guess.” Ren sighed. “Nothing should be up this early, right?”

    “Let’s hope not.”

Seraph and Ren prowled through the territory, the early morning sun shining on their fur. It was warming to feel the rays as the two patrolling rabbits soaked the rays in, giving them much needed energy to continue through the rest of the large territory they had amassed over the generations.

“I feel like it’s a little too quiet today.” Seraph broke the silence, a sudden feeling of suspicion creeping up on her. “It’s never this... peaceful.”

“Never this peaceful in the Safe Haven?” Ren joked. Seraph did not laugh. Ren, sending the sudden seriousness of her Palatine, sighed. “Alright, Alright. Serious Ren is on the lookout for danger. But just know that sometimes the world isn’t all that bad. It can have its peaceful days!”

“Not in spring with birds, foxes, wolves, and other kinds of predators constantly trying to hunt us down.” Seraph murmured. “All I ask is that we be cautious. That’s all.”

They had made it through most of the territory without an incident, most of which led to Ren mocking Seraph throughout the patrol.

“Look! A butterfly! How dangerous!” Ren chuckled, falling over in a fit of laughter. “Oh no! a GIANT, OVERGROWN FLOWER! It must be a rare rabbit eating type! Run awayyyy!”

    “Ren, this is serious.”

“This is me being serious! Look, I’m serious. I’m the most serious ra-“ she paused, her large grin fading as she stared past Seraph.

“Stop with your games, Ren. I’m not stupid, I’m not falling for another trick.”

“N-no, that’s not... Seraph we gotta gO!” Ren exclaimed, turning around and darting away before her sentence was finished coming from her mouth.

Seraph, not wanting to know what was behind her, decided to take Ren’s word for it and followed the terrified rabbit deeper into the territory. Seraphs ears twitched; heavy paws slammed the ground behind her. The every so familiar yowl of frustration sent a shiver down her spine; foxes.

“Dive here!” Seraph shouted. Ren obeyed without question, ducking into the nearest tunnel. Foxes would never be able to fit there!

“I don’t wanna Say that i told you so, buuut...” Seraph teased, glancing at her shaken companion.

“Let’s just go back, this leads somewhere safe, right?”

Seraph nodded. “Yep. They won’t follow us, either. We’re safe.”

Ren let out a sigh of relief. “Good. I... am sorry.” Ren murmured. “I should’ve listened. I-“

“You can stop, its ok. Let’s just go back.”

Ren gave Seraph a reassuring nod. “home.”

Activity 2 || Digging

Postby Chimericect » Thu Mar 28, 2019 1:12 am

“Dig dig dig,” I murmured to myself. “You aren’t very good at that, you have to work on it.” I sighed as my mind played the scene over and over again. “Well guess what, I’m a good digger! I am!”

I felt like i was arguing against someone in that moment, though nobody was there. At least, not in the tunnel. Another rabbit, her fur as white as the snow from winter, popped her head into my short tunnel, though I didn’t notice until I turned around.

“I can hear you Ren, you know that right?” seraph asked coolly. I felt my face burn beneath my fur, the embarrassment making my ears tingle ever so slightly. “You’re a fantastic runner, but you tire easily. You learned to survive above but never to dig and thrive in a warren. You must learn, I apologize for making you feel bad, but to help the warren you should be able to help dig tunnels. It’s-“

“Bird dung,” I growled. Seraph stopped speaking. “Just... help me here so I can finish.” I said. I had forgotten that Seraph was the leader of our group, Seraph-rah is what I should be calling her. I moved dirt to create a longer tunnel, though not as quick as most other does would have done it. Seraph gave a loud and pitiful sigh behind me and began to dig alongside me.

“If you go like this you’ll go faster.” She whispered. I felt anger rise up in my chest, but she was ultimately correct. I mimicked her style, and i could feel a difference in the speed and quality of the hole i was creating. Is that weird? I feel like that was an odd thing to say. Seraph continued speaking. “You’re always on the go, just relax. This should come naturally to you. You’re always in such a rush, and it makes you an excellent scout. I don’t doubt you can outrun any fox or dog that comes out way, but a rabbit here should have skills evenly matched. I want you to become as great a digger as anyone else here. And hey, who knows? You might even find some objects that will help us out as a warren. Plants, objects, sometimes really pretty rocks and stuff just to collect-“

I know it was meant to be a home, but i didn’t laugh. I noticed she stopped speaking, and i sighed. “I’m sorry.” I didn’t notice the small smile seraph formed, as i was too busy continuing to dig my tunnel.

“You’re doing great, Ren. I’m going to start digging around and making a den. You should start that, too.”

“Alright, Seraph...rah. Thank you.” I sighed. It was still odd adding -rah to the end of her name, but I suppose she deserved it. Besides, now i could say I got better at digging because of her! I looked back up at the entrance of my tunnel, which was now no more than a small hole. “I can do this again, piece of cake!”

Healing || From first prompt

Postby Chimericect » Thu Mar 28, 2019 1:47 am

I’ve been told i’m quite the drama queen, and that on top of being the one that tended to get hurt didn’t help. How I had gotten the injury was a mystery to me, I didn’t really remember it, but Seraph said it was quite the spectacle. Apparently, I had fallen on our last patrol and tumbled down a hill. I apparently then proceeded to scream, but I feel like Seraph had been making that part up. There’s no way I could be that dramatic, right?

“Ow ow ow, that hurts!” I cried, wincing as the healer wrapped my foot in a thick type of leaf. Where she found it, I wasn’t sure. I had never seen that kind of plant before, but eh. Every movement caused pain to shoot up my leg, I was convinced it would have to be amputated. “Just take it, take it now.” I bellowed. I had already accepted my cruel fate that Rah had chosen for me. I would have to get used to only having three legs. I could do it, i could still be a quick scout and only have three working legs! Besides, it would make me the target of any attack- those wild beasts believe they know what weakness is. I could show them!

“Relax,” healer hissed, thwacking me with her front paw bitterly. Ouch! It was quite the harsh move, but i have to admit that it was effective. “It’s just a sprain, nothing broken, and nothing worth the whole amputation belief that you have. You aren’t going to lose your leg. Rah help you, you’re quite the little drama queen.”

There it was, the same nickname given to me by many others. See, I don’t get it. wouldnt you be afraid of amputation as well? I opened my mouth to protest, but another voice cut me off.

“She’s quick, though.” Seraphs voice came from the den entrance.

“yeah, quick to jump to conclusions.” healer mumbled before turning to face the leader. A brief moment of panic plastered healers face, though it faded moments later. “Seraph-rah,” healer bowed in respect. “I wrapped her injury, she shouldn’t walk on it much. No patrols until it’s fully healed, otherwise she may potentially make it worse.” Healer then turned to me, glaring at me and my leg. I don’t think healer fancied me all that much, though with the amount of times I manage to make it in here, I wouldn’t like me either. “Go, just be careful next time. Pay attention to where you go, alright? No falling down those hills, you were lucky all this ended in was a sprain.”

“Thank you, healer. I’ll be careful.” I sighed. Seraph smiled at me. “Adrenaline, you’re quite the quick runner. I can see that. Unfortunately, you heard healer. No patrols until you’re better.”

I skunk a little and looked at my wrapped leg. “Yeah, i guess.”

“I think it’s time you learned a less intense skill, hm?”

I stared at her with curiosity. This couldn’t be good.

Activity 3 || Patrolling

“I’m glad you claim to be feeling better, but are you sure you’re ready to patrol again? I’m going to come with you just to be sure, I just-“

“You worry to much!” I exclaimed. I moved my leg around excitedly, enjoying the newfound mobility I had. It no longer hurt! And i didn’t need to have that disgustingly annoying leaf thing that held my foot still. “I’m fine! Look at me go!” I exclaimed. I could feel the ground beneath my paws, i watched as I seemed to fly through the air, only touching the ground for an extra push.

“Take it easy, Ren.” Seraph warned. I sighed.

“Alright, alright. I’ll take it easy.” I skidded to a half in front of her, though I couldn’t hide the large grin that spread across my face. She grinned too, though I could see the worry in her eyes. “I promise i’ll be fine, the last injury was a minor one! I can’t make it any worse, it’s healed! I’ve stayed off of it, here look!” I wiggled my long foot as if to prove something. She shook her head.

“Let’s just go, I have to get back. I shouldn’t be leaving as much as I do.”

The day had only just started, as indicated by the sudden influx of singing birds, who were a little annoying and obnoxious if you ask me. The trees swayed ever so slightly in the spring wind, and the sun warmed my back. “Isn’t this great, Seraph?”

Seraph didn’t seem so thrilled. She followed close behind me, and the thought made me smirk. This is why it was so odd to call her a leader, especially when she tended to be so nervous when she was with me. Then again, she was a quick decision maker. I guess her intellect is what made her so great, among other things.

“It seems really quiet today,” Seraph murmured. I nodded in agreement.

“I guess everyone is out enjoying the first days of the spring sun, that’s all.”

Seraph gave me a look of disbelief, I gave a cheeky grin, here’s to hoping, right? I had to agree, it was odd to see things so... peaceful.

“I think we should go back, Ren.”

“And miss out on a perfectly good adventure?” I shot back. I could see Seraph shift uncomfortably behind me, and I sighed. “Alright, just.. a couple more minutes? It’s so nice to be out of the warren. I’ll go foraging and dig with you, no more patrols for the week then.”

Seraph stayed quiet for a moment. “Fine.”

All seemed peaceful, even in the fields where flowers bloomed and attracted rabbits from all warrens. “There’s nothing here?” I questioned. It wasn’t technically a true part of our territory , however I still wanted to check it out.

“Let’s just go back.” Seraph begged.

“Alright, lets go.” I sighed. I was reluctant, but i went. It was just odd to see nothing around, I hope the journey back will be just as peaceful.

Healing of Ren

Postby Chimericect » Tue Apr 02, 2019 3:09 pm

“I can’t believe you got hurt again.” Seraph hissed, flicking her long, white-furred ear in contempt. Her emerald green eyes flared into Adrenalines, forcing Ren to glance away.

“It wasn’t my fault!” Ren protested.

“I was with you!” Seraph shot back, shaking her head like a disappointed parent.

“It’s not like I meant to, I didn’t do it on purpose. Now can you help me? It’s that foot again, I... don’t think I should’ve went on that patrol.”

“Oh, really? I wonder who could have told you that.”

    “Seraph-rah!”

“Alright alright, lets get you to healer. They’ll help you out.” Seraph sighed. She couldn’t help but shake her head at her close friend, she hated seeing the young rabbit look so tired and defeated with the constant injuries. It seemed out of character for her to get injured so much, but Seraph noticed that she had also been much more reckless as of late.

Seraph watched carefully as the healer carefully wrapped Rens foot once more, murmuring curses and not nice phrases as they did so. It was understandable, especially with the amount that Ren would appear.

“I’m confining you to the camp until your foot is completely healed.” Seraph decided. Ren started at the snow furred leader with widened eyes.

“You can’t!” She begged. What else did she think she could do?

    “You need rest.”

“I’m the best scout this warren has,”

“but a scout that is injured is a scout that’ll be taken out. If you say you’re the best then you should rest up so you can get back to your job faster.”

    “but-“

“Would you rather become fox food?”

Ren went silent and stared at the ground, lowering her gaze to her paws.

“Well?” Seraph inquired, fully expecting a response. Yes, the two were friends, but there comes a point in time in which seraph must stop being a friend and start acting like the leader that she is. This was one of those times.

“I understand.” said aren’t, clearly defeated, and clearly bitter about it. “May I do something, please? I can’t just sit here.”

“Hm... perhaps. For the next few days, though, I want you in camp, off that foot of yours.”

Ren now shifted her gaze and glared at her own back foot, almost as if it were a separate entity from herself and completely to blame. “You know, for a rabbits foot, you aren’t very lucky.” She spat.

Seraph rolled her eyes. “Why don’t you go back to your den. Relax, just enjoy the break. Don’t be dumb, okay?”
Ren sighed. “Okay, Seraph-rah. I understand. But only if you promise me I can do something at least soon. I can’t... i can’t be confined to the dens. I’ll go mad!”

Seraph rolled her eyes. “Fine.” She agreed. “You can go foraging. 3 days of rest.”

“Three?” Ren exclaimed, but cringed after. “Three it is. I’ll... go rest up. Thank you, Seraph-rah.” She stayed. She had a feeling that this would be a particularly long three days of boredom.

Activity 4|| Gathering

Postby Chimericect » Tue Apr 02, 2019 3:22 pm

“I’m bored.” I complained, walking slowly through the grass. It had been 3 days since my injury, the one I so stupidly obtained during our last patrol mission. Seraph has been somewhat kind in allowing me to leave the camp, however I didn’t realize how boring that foraging would be. I mean, looking for food and whatever else must be important, sure, but come ON! This was meant for anyone other than me. Even the digging would’ve been more desirable, and I hated that! But at least it was a challenge, this? All it requires is a good eye, and we don’t even explore all that much.

“What have you found?” Seraph asked, her soft voice breaking me from my incredibly bitter train of thought.

“Absolutely nothing of value.” I grumbled.

“Ren! come on, I allowed you to do a job. Don’t make me regret my decision. Look, I found some clovers, these will be useful for later. I’m going to go put them back at camp, try finding something of use, ok?”

“Yeah yeah yeah.” i grumbled. I scanned the ever so barren ground- which really wasn’t barren, as it’s spring. However my mind didn’t pay attention to whatever flowers or other life may be brewing in the thickets and thorns. After all, it wasn’t exactly the most thrilling of jobs.

That is, until something shiny caught my eye. “What’s this?” I murmured to myself. I glanced over, Seraph was already coming back. I gave her a smile that pointed towards a false confidence, but she seemed to buy it. She began sniffing around the area where she stood, no longer interested in coming over to mine. How nice, I could focus on my own stuff now.

“Remember,” Seraph shouted eagerly. “Clovers are good! So are leaves and feathers and even bones! And Oh, don’t forget-“

“Yeah yeah yeah, I got it. Find fun stuff, stuff probably useful for anyone. I understand.”

Seraph narrowed her eyes, it probably wasn’t the best reaction to her trying to help, but honestly! Would anyone want to hear that? I can guarentee you that you wouldn’t, so don’t even say you wouldn’t mind someone your age and of the same experience just tapping at you about what is and isn’t okay. She was a friend, yes, but wow, she could be quite annoying.

I focused my attention on the shiny object that stuck out from the ground, it was definitely human! Well, a human object. I wasn’t sure what it was, but hey, I liked it! Which was all that really mattered in the end. I snatched it up for later inspections, I figured I should grab whatever else I could find too.

“Ooo I think i got something cool!” Seraph mused from afar, though it didn’t catch my attention for very long. I clearly had the better of the objects! “Are you doing okay over there, Ren?”

The use of my name forably brought my gaze to hers. I grinned. “Yeah, i’ll show you, come over here!” I couldn’t wait to show her my cool find!
