Update: Almost done with my lions which is amazing! Added 14 to my 'Life's a beach' Hoard and waiting for the rarity to come out on the dog so hopefully it's easier to trade since everyone is hoarding those dogs lol maxyjax wrote:I have three active hoards going right now and honestly I've never struggled so hard for hoards before lol but that is the joy of hoards15/50

I hoard whatever I love the design of. Rarity does not matter.
It's nicer if the pet is less common of course, but even those rare hoards can be worthwhile because they are much harder to do. Why not just flip through the archive a few times, find a design you really like.
I started hoarding the dog that got me into the site, pets that reminded me of a favorite tv show, patterns, special linearts. Whatever calls to you is what you should hoard :)
Rarity doesn't matter to me either. I choose my hoards based on the design of the pet. Typically, I do mini hoards of 20. If a pet has a special meaning to me, then I might do a larger hoard or even an unlimited hoard.

I love how it's often something as simple as "I like it!" that makes people hoard rare+ pets :D It feels very wholesome, haha. Thanks for all of you sharing your thoughts and wishing @dolan. the best of luck !!
@maxjax Ooh, congrats on the progress! Lions are always tricky to trade for because they're so popular... Lots of people love the constellation dogs too but keep working hard (๑•̀ㅂ•́)و It'll be complete before you know it!
@Avrap No names stick out to me, unfortunately :o Maybe you could pick a name based on what you associate the ponies with? (Like a song, story, poem, emotion, etc.) Though I do remember that that pony was specifically chosen for an interesting rarity project that might inspire you!
A number of CS users were curious to test the rarity system by seeing if they could forcibly cause a change by making a pet more scarce through the "Delete this pet" option. They did this by collecting large numbers of a single pet to delete in large numbers, record how many they deleted, and observe the rarity for changes. They originally picked this pony to experiment with because of how easy it was to find; its' rarity was originally OMGS Common. You can probably still find the old thread discussing this project somewhere in the forums.
Good luck with the cute hoard and hope you find a new name you're satisfied with! :>

finally done with my christmas camel hoard. I know 40/40 isn't that much but for me it's enough XD
They look amazing! I also love the name you chose haha <3
I don't have time to reply to everyone right now, so just a general ramble and a response to the rare+ hoards question:
I have a card dog hoard, started to hoard them because they're possibly my favorite pets on the site. I had a small hoard of the ace of spades dog earlier, so I thought why not hoard them all. They cost me a lot of fodder, though.
I'm also hoarding a '11 rare. They're quite easy to find and it's going pretty well. I hoard pets for their design and "special connection" I get from them, the rarity doesn't matter too much to me.

My very first VR hoard was back in '11/'12, I got a liontail for the very first time, to be honest at that point on CS I barely focused on anything that wasn't for a collection, but that pet just made something tweak. If I remember right, that one pet set off the entire horde xD Though I got a set quickly, and back then with theIr low demand it was very easy to obtain them, the difficult part was getting the pets people wanted for them. I spent most of my time arranging deals with people for theirs and seeking the pets they wanted. It was a very satisfying activity, and every single one I hold dearly. I had completed the majority of my main collections by this point, just date swaps left, so it was something to spend my fodder on as well as feeling like achieving a dream pet each time. Though as I got more, and slowly had to accept that it's unfair to hoard a pet out of circulation, I moved on to some other hoards.
YO

I'd never seen anyone else interested in the liontails! I have 6 green liontails not sure if that would count as a hoard or not but I completely agree that is what started my desire to collect and start hoarding pets I love I adore the green liontail design but was never super fond of the non jeweled and jeweled lol and they ended up being Omgsr oh well c: its not like I hoarded them for their rarity

@Bob Ross
I'd say anything more than 3 is a hoard so 6 is definitely one! Congrats on so many! 😊
The non-jewelled has always been my personal favourite but I love them all, I capped mine at 20 sets and traded away all but 2 liontails out of the 4 extra sets I had, they're getting held onto until I get the right offer xD
How many do you plan to have in your hoard? 😊
I have also went a bit rogue with my wl, basically started like 5+ new hoards and a maybe VR one but it's off my wl for now cause everything is hoarding madness.... I'm supposed to be store pet trading 😂

Lornsome night,
babbits bawlin',
wind bitin' the bone.
Wind like this,
full of voices.
Ancestry howlin' at you;
Now, find you devil,
Old Georgie himself.
Now you hear up close
and I'll yarn you about
the first time we met
eye to eye.
'you bring the stories'.
All their voices
tied up into one.
One voice different,
one voice whispering
out there,
spying from the dark.
