April Gifting Challenge - Over

The March Gifting Challenge is an idea I had back in 2015, which I have run for the last two years. This year, it's taking place in April instead! How it works is very simple. To participate, you have to try to gift one hundred people, all during the month of April. Gifts can be anything, from a single recent common to a 2008 OMGSR. If you're interested, keep on reading!

• Keep track of how many gifts you've sent. You want to know when you've completed the challenge, don't you?
• You may only post how many gifts you've sent every five pages. Just to keep down spam.
• No requesting donations or gifts. This is begging and against CS rules.
• Do not be rude to other gifters. Be polite. This is an open challenge, anyone can participate.
• Do not lie about how many gifts you have sent. It's just annoying and pointless.

One hundred gifts seems like too many/not enough.

If you don't think you can send one hundred gifts, it's perfectly fine to set a lower goal. Sending any gifts at all is amazing! If you think one hundred is easy, go ahead and try to send one hundred fifty, or two hundred, or even a thousand! If one hundred gifts doesn't work for you, feel free to customize your goal to be whatever feels right for you.

I'm busy this month, can I try this some other month?

Sure! If another month works better for you, do the challenge that month. This challenge is meant to be customized, so whatever works best for you is what you should do.

What do I get from doing this?

There is no 'real' reward for completing this challenge. You get no pets, no items, no C$. What you do get is to be proud of sending a hundred gifts, and to have caused the happiness of a hundred users. Interestingly, scientists have proved that giving things to others makes people happier, so you get a reward of your own happiness as well!

Aren't gifting games against CS rules?

They are. I got approval from the staff before starting this. Because people don't get a reward and there's not really a way to cheat, it doesn't have the problem of a typical gifting game, where people can get gifts without sending them.

What should the gifts be?

Gifts can be anything. If you want to gift one recent unknown rarity, that's fine. If you want to gift a few store items, that's fine. If you want to gift a bunch of older uncommons, that's fine. If you want to gift a list pet, that's fine. As long as you are giving something away, it counts as a gift.

How should I keep track of gifts?

Any way is fine, it's up to you. Using a google doc or something similar works quite well. It also works nicely to keep a number in your signature and simply edit it each time you sent a gift.

Can I run a <insert month here> gifting challenge?

Sure! However, I'd like it if you sent me a PM about it so I know about it and can make sure there aren't multiple challenges running and give me credit for the idea. You also have to send in a help ticket getting permission from the staff, since gifting games are generally against CS rules.

Why is it in April instead of March this time?

I've been quite busy lately, and I only remembered the challenge halfway through March. It seemed like it would be hard to complete the challenge in only half the time, so I decided it was best to push it back a month. Next year, I intend to move the challenge back to March!
