Favorite type of rodent: rats or gerbils
Tell us about your pets: I have two gerbil sisters, i got them a few months ago when they were (i believe) half a year old. I call them Cashew and Whamo. Cashew is more cuddly and chill, but she loves to run on their wheel. Whamo is very energetic and likes to dig and chew on their toys.
Other: Their full names are Ca$$hew Swtrvtble Pending (inspiration for my user) and Wham!ification Debble-Steff Pending. I asked my sister to help me name them and we got carried away... P:
I also have an indoor cat named nina, which made me a think I would have to lock her out of my room when I got my gerbils, but she doesn't seem to care about them at all. If anything, they freak her out a little. (don't worry, I still always keep their cage closed when I'm out of the room)

they’ll eat almost everything. the only thing i’ve given them that they didn’t like was apple and chickweed leaves (they ate the stems though!)

Tell us about your pets: i have a djungarian dwarf hamster named Link! i got him just a few days ago and he's my first dwarf. i've had syrians before but he's the first hamster i've had in a few years.
Other: i'm working on taming my hamster - i'll put my hand in his cage with a treat on it but he'll just come over to it and bite my fingers lol

Tell us about your pets: i have a djungarian dwarf hamster named Link! i got him just a few days ago and he's my first dwarf. i've had syrians before but he's the first hamster i've had in a few years.
Other: i'm working on taming my hamster - i'll put my hand in his cage with a treat on it but he'll just come over to it and bite my fingers lol

perhaps you should build a play pen and just sit there. the dwarf needs to get used to your presence and see you as not a threat. your hand is most likely overhanging the hamster, which will make it scared. leave hides inside the play pen and sit there for 30 minutes to about an hour and do so daily. that should help increase your bond. perhaps use food as a bait and then use the food times as your bonding times. you could scatter the food inside the play pen or on your legs and try not to touch him with your hand straight away.

Tell us about your pets: I currently have two dumbo rats, Lola and izzy, both females. they have a large double-level cage, and they're pretty happy. both were born in April of 2018, and they're rescue rats, as their owner was moving homes and couldn't take them. Lola is a light grey speckled, much smaller than izzy. Lola loves grapes, izzy sides with blueberries. both are spoiled nuts, but I love them a ton.
Other: ive been a rodent enthusiast for around 13 years now, but these are my first rats ive been able to get, as my parents rather hate them.

welcome, happy to have you here! my parents were the same way until I became an adult and was able to purchase and care for them myself. they agreed to let me get them and they fell in love. my dad especially. i'm glad you finally get to have the rats you wanted!
