Owlpaw woke to the sound of Ripplepaw's voice. With a soft grunt, the small tom heaved himself out of his nest before softly padding out of the apprentice's den, shying away from his denmates. When he was met with raindrops on his nose, Owlpaw snorted distastefully.

The grey cat stretched his stiff limbs and trotted into the clearing. He rolled his shoulders back as the refreshing rain pelted down on his short fur. That felt good. Wolfstar's yellow eyes scanned his clan. Was Heavyoak ready? He glanced around and spotted his deputy, talking to a couple of warriors. Good, he must be getting ready for the day.

Coppersnap stretched on his nest, flicking her tail sleepily. She hopped up and padded out of the warrior's den. She glanced at the apprentice's den and spotted the forms of cats moving inside. ' 'Kestrelpaw!' ' she called, hurrying over. ' 'And Ripplepaw, too. Ah, yes! Why don't you go and ask your mentor if we can join a patrol? We can do some swimming training later.' '

Shadowbounce gave a quick nod and trotted out of the den toward the freshkill pile. He nosed past a small songbird and selected a mouse, which he tucked into a few tail-lengths away. The black tom glanced up at the camp every few bites as he enjoyed observing the clan wake up.

Ripplepaw sat straight up, ears perked as she listened to the warrior in front of her. "Ok, Coppersnap!" She knelt by Kestralpaw's head. "Told you!" the she-cat whispered excitedly, then she took off to find Heavyoak. She shuffled through the rainfall to the outside of the warrior cat's den where she spotted the deputy. "Heavyoak, Heavyoak! Can we go on a patrol with Coppersnap and Kestrelpaw? Please?"

she looked up at Honeybounce "Hm?' she stifled a yawn, blinking up at the hairless she-cat. her long stripy tail flicked sleepily. did she really have to get up already? augh.. and as she angled her ears towards the entrance of the den, she realised it was raining too. terrible weather.

Shadowbounce swallowed his mouthful and addressed his apprentice. "Hey, Owlpaw. I believe we'll be on the dawn patrol." He responded with a squinted glance at the sky. "Maybe we could train with some other apprentices after that. I don't know how much luck we'd have hunting." The bicoloured tom meowed before taking the last bite of his meal. "I see Creamflower has eaten, so you can get some food while we wait for Heavyoak to orginize the patrol." The warrior added after a moment of thought. Shadowbounce enjoyed having an apprentice, although the young tom got flustered at times.

A loose chuckle caught in the large warrior's throat at his apprentice's enthusiasm, remembering the days where he was in her position. "Of course, of course we may." He replied, warmth in his voice, with a quick count of heads Heavyoak deduced that there was enough for a patrol. Heavyoak looked towards the apprentice den just in time to see his daughter emerge with her mentor, Coppersnap. A purr rose in his chest as he singled the duo over.

Coppersnap wasn't particularly a large cat, but next to her mentor, the young apprentice looked more like a kit. "So, border patrol, yeah?" she asked with half-lidded eyes looking at the forming group of cats, in the midst of it, her eyes fell on Ripplepaw, then Heavyoak and she groaned.
