the definition of divinity is the state or quality of divine, and right now divinity looked nothing even close to divine. she tripped and stumbled her way though the halls, sloppily wiping her eyes and trying to look where she was going at the same time. finally making it to the library, after many missteps and bumps with other confused students, she slammed the door behind her- well, as softly as she possibly could because this was the library- and ran into one of the aisles full of books. surely nobody could find her in here. her school was rather wealthy, therefore having a large library for this who enjoyed studying in peace and quiet. if she just hid in one of the many aisles, she could possibly get away with storming out of class.
of course, she had a reason to do so, and one that made sense too. but, it's not like she was going to snitch on the bullies, or else things would get worse. she heaved out a sigh, regained her dignity and walked out from the aisle trying to be as calm and collected as possible. divinity approached the librarian, who was known for being an airhead-but very sweet nonetheless- old lady, and smiled.
"hello miss, may i please have a tissue? i think my nose is bleeding." for side effects, she put her paw to her muzzle and sniffed, wincing. the librarian quickly looked up from her books and gasped, wobbling up from her spinny office chair.
"right away dear! does your head feel fuzzy? did you exert yourself too much in gym? what happened??" she grabbed a tissue for divinity and passed it into her hands, cupping them in the process. "why don't you take a seat and relax for a bit! i'm sure your teacher will understand!"
divinity smiled and nodded, putting the tissue up to her noise and quickly turning around after thanking the nice librarian. teachers here don't care about the students as much as you do, but thank you for the help. i sure do hope they'll understand though, i guess my bloody nose plan worked, so they probably will. i'm sure they will barge in here any minute now. just as divinity was about to sit down, the doors to the library slammed open, making her jump back up and turn around.
"oh."

"divinity, is that you crouching behind the chair? it's me, demi. the teacher sent me," demi hesitantly spoke, stepping forward a bit and then backing off. a muffled grumble was heard from behind the chair as divinity rose up again with the tissue to her nose. "wow, you look awful- no offense."
"none taken, i already know that. you said the teacher sent you?" divinity staggered over to demi and looked at her curiously. demi shuffled her feet, looking up at divinity and sighing.
"yeah. if you don't mind me asking, why did you run out of class like that? we were in the middle of writing haikus and you just up and left. was it them again?"
divinity sighed, turning around and padding back towards the small table in the corner of the library. she gestured to the other cushion and demi looked around and then followed suit.
"yeah, it was them," divinity slouched in the chair, avoiding demi's pitiful gaze, "how'd you know?"
"just a hunch." both of them sat in a comfortable silence, acknowledging each other's pain. the notorious bullies in the school picked on everyone they disliked, and even sometimes others in their group. basically nobody who disagreed with their opinions. they were absolutely horrible, and their favorite punishment was to embarrass or pick on their victim until they dropped out of the school.
"they did it to me too," demi choked out, "and i don't know why they stopped but i'm scared and i-" divinity shushed her, smiling sadly. she hugged the shaking girl and their combined tears dripped onto each others' shoulders. half laughing and half crying, demi pulled away, grinning at divinity.
"let's be friends. let's stop them together," demi made her hand into a fist, "i know we could." divinity cheekily grinned back, her 'bloody nose' long forgotten. she sniffed, wiping her tears away and replied.
"yeah, let's take those bullies down!"
and so their mission began.
