Shadowbounce was settled in the entrance of the warriors den, enjoying the patter of raindrops on the camp ground. The tom always woke up before the rest of the Marshclan, along with a few others. Dawn was the most exciting time to be awake for him. Most things happen over night, and if a cat is up early enough, he can discover it all first. He was sure the deputy was tired of the black and white tom asking to be on the dawn patrol almost every sunrise, but Shadowbounce didn't exactly care. It was his favourite time of day.

Kestralpaw awoke to the dampness of the quiet den. The soft pitter-patter of rain on wood lulling her out of her sleep, with a groan the young she-cat buried her head between her front paws and tried to convince herself she was still tired. Kestralpaw hated the rain; she hated how it clung to her feathery fur, how gloomy it made everything feel, how it made the ground give away into a muddy mess that always got stuck in between her paw pads. Maybe if I stay here Coppersnap will call off training she thought, knowing it was futile.

The cool, gentle brush of rain on fur woke Heavyoak. His next was one of the closest towards the entrance of the warrior den, so when bad weather arose, he'd get the brunt of it. Not that he minded, actually the tom quite enjoyed the rain that greenleaf brought. To him, it made the forest more humbled, softer, not like greenleaf when the air was sticky and the bugs yelled in the night. Slowly, Heavyoak stretched his large paws out in front of him and yawned, the rains humidity made his fur cling and feel heavy on his already heavy bones. It took his eyes a moment to adjust to the blurry light before he noticed a familiar figure sitting idle at the entrance, as usual. "Goodmorning" Heavyoak croaked, voice gravelly with sleep.

A rough but friendly meow brought Shadowbounce's attention back to the den. He saw Heavyoak rising from his nest, long fur lightly disheveled. "Good morning! Did you sleep well?" He addressed the other warrior in a soft greeting so as not to disturb any others. "It's raining quite a bit. I wonder if it will let up at all today." The tom added, poking his thin black and white head out of the entrance to peer at the clouds.

Ripplepaw stretched her forepaws out from her nest, eyes still closed as she started to wake up. Groggily, her gold eyes opened. When the young she-cat saw the light entering the den, she sat up quickly and gave her chest a few rapid licks. Glancing over the nests beside her, Ripplepaw spotted Kestralpaw. "Hey, Kestralpaw!" Ripplepaw whisper yelled, prodding the other she-cat's side. "We should get up! It's daytime now!"

Owlpaw woke to the sound of Ripplepaw's voice. With a soft grunt, the small tom heaved himself out of his nest before softly padding out of the apprentice's den, shying away from his denmates. When he was met with raindrops on his nose, Owlpaw snorted distastefully.

Birchdust rose early and groomed himself well before leaving his nest. As he exited the warriors den with his head held high, the Marshclan deputy soon caught his attention. With confident strides, the warrior made his way over to greet him and the other tom beside him. "Morning," Birchdust said simply, dipping his head. "Can I lead the next patrol? I don't mind the weather."

Shadowbounce shuffled out of the way to allow Birchdust out of the cozy den, ears perking at the mention of patrol. "I'll come too, if you'll have me." He offered quickly, clearly keen on getting out of camp. "Do I have time to eat something first? The fresh-kill pile is quite full." The young tom added with a hopeful glance at the deputy.

Kestralpaw gave a groan and rolled onto her back and looked up at the other apprentice, ear twitching in annoyance. "Doesn't look like daytime out there." She complained, "Why do we have to train in this weather? Rain is the worst! Im gonna get muddy again!" Kestralpaw didn't understand how Ripplepaw could already be so bubbly so early. Any other time of the day, Kestrlpaw could easily match Ripplepaw's excitement, just not in the morning.
