^do the one most canine (if possible) because there will be tons of references then for you to look at!

Also pick one with cheap faux fur colours. You’ll have to look online to get an idea but stay away from (navy lol I know personally, lavender, some greens, magenta) it’ll depend on where you, but but for your first suit, money saving is sometimes a good idea since your first suit hopefully won’t be your last!

Pick one that doesn’t have complex patters or face details. Remember, you’ll have to hand sew those! Can I see the refs and I can help a bit more?

Heya! I'm Haven! I'm a bit newer to the fandom (I've been in it for only about 2 years officially now) and I'm planning on making my fisrt fursuit! The only issue for me is, I have multiple sonas, and no idea how to pick which one! Any advice?

I did narrow it down to 3 of them, all of which have simple enough designs for a beginner!

I also have an air-brush set, which I think will come in handy!

Same for me! I started making my first suit about a week or two ago and I can definitely say that you have the first step down in narrowing your simplest characters down. I'd say that if you have one, use a canine with pointy ears for your first suit. I feel like most tutorials on youtube and such have way more canine tutorials than other suits, unless of course you check out Mugiwara cosplay. I feel like the other main deciding factor is just what character do you like and think you'll want to use the most. All in all, it's completely up to you. Worst comes to worst, just use a random number generator and let it decide for you. Best of luck!

I was like: these ears are tiny what the heck. Let’s change that before I fur. Do you think it was an improvement? I feel like it added more character...I’m adding more to fit the head smoother but it’s 9:30 pm

Also huge shoutout to Croxiin for letting me use/edit (a bit) their art for my tag. Have it printed rather large and I’m hoping to laminate it soon.


Edit: also sorry for so many photos but I’m excited to buy magnets this weekend! I can’t do eyelids so these brows are great expression!

Edit edit: I’m actually going insane because of the body design. I changed it to follow the same colours but be interesting. See ya’ll I’m busy mentally preparing myself. I also might be crying when I start the body.

I feel like the best choice might be the caracal. Their ears might be difficult to do but I bet you could simplify them. They just seem to have the most simplistic color scheme so I think that would be the best option.

Completely missed out on posting any progress pictures of this boy because I was too caught up in the process but I made a premade fox to sell! I found a bunch of furs in the art studio that I didn't know we had until now and got straight to work. He's going to be sold as a mini partial so I still need to make paws and a tail but look!! at!! him!!



It's only my second attempt at making a head so it could be better in some areas but I'm super proud of the result!! It's completely hollow and uses an elastic strap so it fits most head sizes, the ears are poseable, the tongue will be removable with velcro and he also has a pickable nose!

Also made myself a logo a few weeks ago since I plan on becoming a full time fursuit maker once I have more experience and that turned out pretty good too!

Hey! I'm a fellow furry and have never seen this thread, and it's great to see a community forum here. I was browsing throughout the posts and came across the fursuit makers and saw that my two absolute FAVORITE fursuit makers MultiColorBark (formerly AutumnFallings) and What's Up, Hotdog? wasn't on there!
