Yes, a challenge is fun but I’d consider a challenge like 6-9 months of trading but YEARS? I spent 3 years trying to get my first list pet. I got it and realized how ridiculous it was because it wouldn’t even go for pets of the same rarity. I traded it off so fast. Like you said, if the list continues there needs to be a balance.

Yes, I was agreeing with you <3 I personally paid crazy prices for some of my pets, not going to lie. I'm sad that some of these older pets are going to suffer (like my UR rat for the moment, because without a rarity list, it will fall back to something like a few 09's or an 08 or something) without SOMETHING convincing the community how rare the rat actually might be. Beware to anyone with an OMGSR of very low demand.

I totally havent spent over 11kg on lists )

it took me literally forever to get my first list pet (an advent bunny.... ), (2 years) but then dec 18th came around this year and i got the rainbow mane!
i hope its value doesn't go down, it's supposed to go up on the list.

I dont see the point in keeping this list and gearing it towards rarity when there are already other lists working on just rarity. Seems pretty redudant and pointless to me

The ony reason I have the few lists that I have/in the past owned some list pets is because:
1) I joined and was very active 2010-2012 so things weren't so inflated.
2) The free adopt's board and pound.
3) Other people's generosity and kindness.

You’re right. There are other lists that are already working on rarity. But the popularity of this one is ridiculous, I do hope it’s retired so we can switch over the attention to those.

But again that offsite figure is horrible - for a single pet! (Orange Cerb before it became OMG( there's no excuse for values inflating that high.
For those not familiar with conversions, what I got for an Orange Cerb was 3/4th the price of a Sunjewel.

I consider it a pretty good deal considering the ravens are pretty common compared to the other 2010 storepets.

Yep, that’s true. But imagine what would happen if we raised them on this list. Demand would raise. We can’t change demand but we can show people what the pets are actually worth instead of just telling them “this pet is worth two nons” when rarity wise it’s not.

There was at least one experienced trader who said in a previous discussion that their best chance for getting List pets was via offsite trades.

That’s probably a big red flag when it comes from an experienced trader

I myself as an older user and experienced trader, I can definitely back this up and agree with it.
A portion of my older rares and such came from trades with FlightRising, because getting them here is just impossible.

I semi-agree.

I'm a pretty savvy trader and I like to do my research alongside being fairly observant. I think it really depends what pets you're talking about. High-list and high-demand trading absolutely.

For the most part, accumulating lists through off-site such as FR is only really easier because you can just climb the rarity ladder due to C$ scaling not reflecting list scaling - eg. a non-dog is worth 3 sorbets but it's also worth 6,000g. The sorbet is worth 4,500g though so how do 3 sorbets (11,500g) then = a non (6,000g)? There's a gap of half the value missing.

You could sell 30 09 rares for 200g each for FR and have enough for a Non. That's much easier than going out and trying to offer somebody 30 09 rares for a Non-dog when the list tells you that they're worth about 1,200.

Alongside that, you also have the fact that you're only really agreeing to offers with set prices - people put their pet up for X price and you can just say yup, that's fine with me - and you go from there. CS trading generally takes the form of accumulating dozens of offers where people fight over the pet and you pick the best one - hence causing an immense amount of frustration for many.

The same sort of trading method doesn't really work for C$ because of the lack of desirability C$ has in comparison. C$ is sort of a side-thing to CS - you can only really buy store items which most people have already or a few store pet sets once every two months. That's nothing in comparison to Flight Rising where literally everything on the game revolves around currency rather than the pets/dragons.

The fact that off-site trading back and forth has become a very common and easy way to accumulate CS wealth is quite sad (without even having to buy any currency yourself). I've always stated this but the popularity of manipulating C$ values is just further proof that list trading and list values on CS is inherently broken. It's impossible to try to trade-down for pets for years you have been told is a "fair" conversion (eg. a green toxic for two balloon dogs) because people have realised - they're actually losing out because trading quantity up isn't really worth it. Why would you trade your two balloon dogs for a green toxic when you could sell each for 3,000g each and buy a non for 6kg? Why trade four for a sorbet when you could sell them for a total of 12kg (and theoretically) buy a Sunjewel or UR Tiger? The value of quantity is sheerly under presented on the thread and I think that's one of the core issues with the use of the guide. People don't want to be called greedy because they don't think exactly two-hundred-and-fifty-two of their 2008 advent list dogs are worth as little as one single little non-dog. It doesn't make logical sense to value the gap in rarity like that and if we wanted to convert that to FR currency... 252 advents @ 600g each is worth around 150,000 gems or 1,500 USD... which is like 15 sunjewels at list value compared to being worth 1 non in CS terms

That being said - I don't think there's anything inherently wrong with CS that people would rather off-site than trade with CS pets. It's just that off-siting has proved much more worthwhile investing in because there is soooo much more room to profit and gain compared to a broken trading system.

This is a tangent though and I'm fairly sure that the issue of quantity was brought up before.
This was just my two cents (and my experience as a veteran off-siter)

It's because of their look. Many people want them. It will always be an economy issue <3 <3 It's like everyone wanting the name brand, but they stopped making clothing items long ago.

I honestly don’t see why late store pets don’t deserve to be highly demanded and more valuable than another very rare from their year. Store pets actually cost money to obtain, it’s not like anyone can just adopt them for free. Keep in mind as well that there were fewer players back then, and therefore fewer that would spend their real life money on this game making the store pets even less common. These pets (as far as we know) will never be rereleased so will only become more difficult to obtain over time. I’m sorry but I just think they shouldn’t be under valued just so people can own one easily.
Please note I’m not saying they’re worth an arm and a leg, I think some of the trades are insane as well.

Also, I thought of this a while back but forgotten to post it; if the list is retired and list pets are seen as being worth the same as any other VR from they’re time, what’s to stop people hoarding them to the point where there’s hardly any in circulation? I for one would most certainly hoard one or two as I love the designs, and if they’re so much easier to get them hoards will be larger and more people may start to hoard them.

Just thought id add that if a lot of the devaluation talk is coming from relation of not valuing pets in terms of quantities of nons/sorbs/balloon dogs/toxics/mid-advents/09 rares anymore - then that was already really happening. Most list pets weren't going for their gap list prices because the quantity they were preached to be worth was just unrealistic to get. Users generally valued their list pets in quantity trades depending on how badly they liked or disliked quantity instead of following the list - eg. we've already seen 2 sorbs for 1 non become standard for trade-downs and even those sort of trades are hard to get when you own the non. 100-200 09 rares is around standard for sorbs-nons too due to the lack of availability of quantity.

Devaluation already technically happened when people realised quantity was worth more than it was given credit for.
