A bit about him:
Eric was never a loud guy, or someone to show a lot of emotions.
He can't be called lazy despite often looking like it; somehow, the work assigned to him always gets done, despite no one seeing him do a thing.
Eric's fond of art, but not because of how they show emotions. It's because of the talent that goes into all the brush strokes and anatomy and fantasy the artists have. His favorite theme is surely surrealism with a pinch of grotesque.
He's usually that blank faced quiet person sitting in the background, observing others as they go on with their daily lives. Though he might seem cold towards others, it's only because of his lack of emotions.
Speaking of which, emotions always fascinated him. He says he can't feel anything; it is often that he can't understand whether someone is being genuinely happy or sad, sarcastic or just joking.

It's been like this since his first day in primary school. He was the kid in the back row, the loner one, either being left out or declining fun activities so he could watch others feeling... feelings. He wanted to understand it.

How he met his buddy bro:
He basically had no friends. But when his class got a new classmate, one by the name of Jeremy Causey, his loner attitude changed.
He started getting interested in the kid. At first, it was only their shared last name; he just found found it weird, but brushed it off, even the comments from other kids about them being siblings or relatives.
Then, when one day the two forgot that their first lesson that day was cancelled and went there to find no one else in the classroom.
Jeremy, despite being all shy and such, cautiously started a (although one sided but it was still something) conversation with him, Eric started getting more and more curious about him. The kid was rambling, which he hated, but... for some weird reason, he enjoyed it. Jeremy was telling him stuff that was meaningless, yet it caught his interests. This was new.

He was just quietly listening to Jeremy as they sat in the empty room, both paying attention and wondering how "interesting rambling" could be a thing until their classmates slowly stared arriving.
From then on, the two started to become an inseparable pair.

His job
Eric works at a library. It's quiet, usually not full of annoying people and it's full of stories waiting to be read. It's the ideal place for a quiet-loving person.

Hobbies
One of Eric's habits is gardening. He has a garden so beautiful it made his colleague cry the first time she saw it! The way he cares about every little plant and flower, the time he puts into it is just astounding, really.
When asked about it, he usually just answers jokingly: "Plants will take over the world soon, anyway. Why not help them?"

His other hobby is playing badminton. He just loves the game and has become extremely good at it over the years! Fortunately for him, his little buddy enjoys sports too, but because of his social anxiety, Jeremy doesn't have the courage to ask others to play. But what is Eric there for if not to play some badminton with the little guy, eh?
Together, they're almost impossible to beat!

Facts:
- Eric is a really good liar, especially when it comes to faking emotions. Despite not understanding them yet, he learned when others show which emotions and he uses this to appear slightly more normal. But despite being good at it, he almost never does it verbally. Only with emotions so people don't think he's (that) weird.

- Even though he can't tell when people are trying to joke, he enjoys reading jokes that aren't written in a chat conversation. He knows they're just jokes, but when someone in chat cracks one without telling him it's going to be a joke, he gets confused, just like when he's talking to someone.

- He became really good at remembering faces while he was analysing other's faces for how they show emotions.

- He thinks Jeremy is the only one he can openly ask about anything, even the silliest topics. Otherwise, he's just a silent guy who's secretly examining your behavior.

- He is incredibly picky!

maxwell is a 16 year old trans guy who lives with his mother, nettie hills, and 14 year old brother, vincent hills. he's an explorer, swimmer, and tiktok cosplayer. you can probably find him and his brother sneaking around defunct amusement parks and taking selfies. the two are an inseparable pair for creating chaos and trouble. vincent is known for being guile and talking their way out of trouble, whereas maxwell has the brawns for the both of them.
you can often find him drifting off into space because of his constant need for activity. if he's not doing something immediately he can't manage to just sit there; instead, he daydreams for hours on end and thinks and ponders and whatever other synonyms you need. he's fidgety and won't ever sit still. he shifts in his seat constantly and folds his legs, or plays with the hem of his shirt, or taps his feet to the floor.

maxwell is stocky and muscular, but still lean and lithe; built for speed and activities like climbing and swimming.

maxwell is known for his aggressive, cold exterior but loving and cuddly true nature. he's totally the kind of guy you'd expect to be riding a motorcycle and starting fights, but he's really the kind of guy to beat himself up for hours about stepping on his dog's foot. he's pretty blunt and can come off as rude, but really he just doesn't think about how he might sound to others. he's not a small talk guy; he gets down to business, and if that's not your style, you'll have a hard time working with him. he's a stick in the mud as well; once he puts his mind to something, he's set on it.

maxwell works as a starbucks barista near his local library. he's a favorite of customers and managers alike because his attention to detail on orders. if he feels he didn't write an order right, he goes over to ask the person buying. he always replaces his gloves after each drink and cleans the areas where cross-contamination could occur. his coworkers chide his responsible nature, but he really doesn't want to give anyone an allergic reaction at the moment.
maxwell takes frequent breaks to check his binder and blood sugar, but he is known to cover shifts regularly and work efficiently regardless, so his manager turns a blind eye. customers claim they write down what days he works so they can know their order is quality.

backstory:

maxwell was born in simsbury, connecticut, on april 12th. his mother, nettie, had recently divorced and was moving up northwards. he grew up in hartland, maine, where he spent most of his time fishing and swimming. in the harsh winters, nettie and maxwell would go ice fishing to get their dinner. during the unbearably hot summers, the two would play in the lake, go kayaking, and catch frogs and fish. they would also routinely go berry-picking and make pastries.
max started showing behavioral problems when he was about eight; his teachers reported he'd have crying fits and even get violent at times. after months of maxwell getting increasingly frantic and emotional, nettie brought him to a therapist.
it took a while for progress to be made, but his therapist eventually started trying to read in more to his vivid daydreams. she deduced two things:
maxwell would get frustrated when interrupted from a daydream,
and maxwell constantly fantasized about being a boy.
she explained the concept of being transgender to maxwell, and he found himself very curious about the idea. after a few weeks of working with his therapist, they both decided to tell his mother together that he wanted to try socially transitioning.
the change greatly reduced maxwell's violent outbursts and he seemed happier in general.
maxwell was the one to propose the idea of a GSA club at his school when he first started at the local high school, and he still leads it.
when max was ten, his little brother vincent was born. he was enamored with the kid and would talk to anyone who would listen. he took amazing care of his brother when his mother was tired or at work.
as vincent grew up, max started taking him on more adventures. they broke into a theme park for the first time together and certainly evaded the cops for the first time together. vincent and max were each other's best friends.
