Second Hunting - Jeremy, Bracken and Janet
What was considered the most useless hunting mission was given to the trio of rabbits well known throughout the warren: Jeremy, Bracken and Janet. It was within the first month of spring and the frost was still stubbornly sticking around. The air was bitter but milder than it was even in the last days of autumn but there was still the remnants of snow on the ground. The trio trudged onward, quite annoyed at Lilith-Rah’s suggestion that they do this and not someone else, they did plenty for the warren both in work and entertainment. They were looking forward to their peaceful day but no, here they were, out in the cold and wet clomping along on a useless endeavour. There was quite a bit of grumbling and complaining between them, though mostly about the weather rather than any specific rabbit back in the warren who may have been responsible for the decision.

The most enthusiastic of the three was Jeremy and was leading the way across the hillside, bounding ahead, eyes peeled for any patches of food and rather excited to be able to be outside after the long winter. The other two were less enthusiastic and hung behind a bit, Bracken was grumbling and moaning to Janet about the weather, the fact they were out there and how small his chamber was. Janet was mindlessly nodding along, lost in his own thoughts. Eventually, however, Bracken decided he wanted more interaction that Janet’s idle nods. He nudged the buck, “What’s up, Janet?” He asked, a friendly smile on his face.

Janet barely paid attention, “Oh, nothing..” His response drifted off as he continued walking. Bracken was a little agitated, wondering what Jeremy could even see in this buck? The previous conversations on the subject still didn’t clear all the ideas from his mind, he still thought that Jeremy could be his mate and he was more than a little annoyed by his response. “Are you just going to drift off into your own little world then?” Bracken huffed. Janet nodded in the same mindless way he had in the past and sped up slightly to catch up to Jeremy. Bracken grew even more frustrated and huffed once again, “Fine, suit yourself.” This was accompanied by a carelessness in his step that made him catch Janet’s tail. He did not apologise and didn’t plan to. Janet spun round, suddenly extremely frustrated with the other buck. “What is your problem Bracken? Still hurting over Jeremy turning you down? Get over it,” Janet snapped, he regretted what he said almost immediately. It was rude and even Bracken didn’t deserve it.

Bracken whacked Janet in the face with a paw. “Shut up hutchie,” he grumped. Bracken did not really mean to offend Janet, but Janet took offense anyway. The other buck leaped onto Bracken and started whacking him from where he stood on top of him. Bracken didn’t let this continue for very long and twisted round, allowing himself to clonk Janet right in the face. The fight continued, not really escalating to bites and real wounds but the punches and kicks were getting a bit vicious. Jeremy had seen the fight and, unsure what to do, she did the first thing that came to her mind. She cried. A strange, wailing cry that completely distracted the two bucks mid fight. They looked at each other rather sheepishly. “S-sorry, Jeremy… I guess we should get one with finding some new food patches for the spring…” Bracken mumbled, Janet nodding in agreement. With one last sniffle, Jeremy bounded onward, the three of them completely silent.

Second Patrolling - Jeremy, Bracken and Janet
There was a strange tension in the air around the three patrolling rabbits. Jeremy and Bracken were walking side by side, trying to have a friendly conversation with Janet walking a short distance behind, watching Bracken extremely closely. It was only a few days since the last time they went hunting together but the weather was already extremely different than the days before. There was no frost left clinging to the flowers or trees and where there was previously snow there was only very soggy grass. The breeze was less bitter and the sun shone down, warming the ground beneath it like it was an old friend. All was rather peaceful on the hillside with the bird twittering away and no elil at all in sight.

Bracken, however, had a deep sinking feeling in his stomach. He knew this friendship was fragile after what he did on that hunt. He knew he was the cause for all of this, they used to be such good friends but then he ruined it. He slowed down, beginning to trail behind Jeremy. His head dropped so he was staring at the floor, his eyes exploring every detail of every blade of grass. Both Jeremy and Janet noticed his change in mood but both were a tad too afraid to say anything about it. The patrol continued it complete silence, Bracken still inspecting every blade of grass he was soon to stomp on and Janet and Jeremy having a whispered conversation between themselves, occasionally glancing back at Bracken.

The silence continued for a short while before Bracken sighed. He picked his head up and stopped. “Hey, um, Jeremy, Janet?” He called, they were a significant distance away at this point. Jeremy and Janet turned back towards him and hopped closer, not as fast as light but not as slow as a snail. It was a reasonable speed. It was a few seconds before they reached him and Bracken used that time to prepare himself for not messing up what he was going to say next. They reached him, their heads tilted slightly in confusion. Bracken look between them before speaking, “So, um.. I, uh. I just, I just wanted to say, I’m sorry. I’m sorry for being so rude. For being rude to both of you. And I’m sorry for causing that fight the other day…” He hung his head, hoping they wouldn’t hate him too much. Too his surprise, though really not unexpected, Jeremy hopped closer and shoved her head at his shoulder. She was crying, “It’s okay Bracken! I forgive you!” She sniffled, but it sounded like she was smiling through it. Even more surprisingly, Janet even hopped closer and nuzzled the dumb buck, “I forgive you, you idiot.” He laughed, a few tears dripping down his cheeks. Bracken broke into tears as well after hearing their responses.

After a quick break to cry and apologise, the trio separated from their bunny hug. “We better get on with this patrol, guys,” Janet said, his cheeks still a bit damp. Bracken and Jeremy chuckled. “Yeah, we better. Otherwise Lilith-Rah may come wondering where we are,” Bracken laughed. The three of them hopped onward along the patrol route, laughing and being the best friends they should have always been.

Fourth Digging - Bracken, Carrot and Janet
Digging, digging, digging. More digging, everything starts with digging over here in Warren Delta. Scritchity scratchity, the rabbits scraped away at the dirt in front of them in an effort to widen the newest tunnels, the ones connecting the majority of the old Lake Hill Warren with Warren Delta. There was a rather methodical system between the three rabbits who had been given the dreadful task of making room for the fat rabbits, the rabbits that become furry barrels as they try and get through the warren. Bracken and Janet were systematically clearing space from the walls and ceiling while Carrot was scooping up the dirt and wiggly his way backwards with it, his fluffy tail shaking in the air as he cleared the dirt away. Bracken and Janet were having an occasional conversation about random things such as splinters, Jeremy and collapsing tunnels. Carrot was oblivious as he just wanted to be good at removing the dirt. He must become the master dirt remover. He shall be the best.

Bracken and Janet’s conversation soon turned to how Janet and Jeremy met, the two former hutch rabbits were quite a strange thing for Bracken still, despite them being the best of friends. His curiosity was mostly about how they knew they were right for each other, he’d never really felt the same towards another doe. Confusingly, he’d never had any feelings for does despite his old siblings having kits at half his age. Except Jeremy and he still truly questioned that as if it were a naughty kit.

Bracken was mindlessly thinking about these things when he noticed the way Carrot was clearing the dirt away. He was surprisingly good considering his track record, Bracken was proud of the kiddo and his choice to invite him along. He stared at the red bun boy and completely forgot that he was meant to be digging. Janet jabbed him in the ribs and grumped at him to keep digging. With a grumble of ow and a huff of annoyance, he went back to digging and widening the tunnel. After all, it was for the comfort of the fat rabbits and the armies of children the future would birth and set loose in the twisty tunnels of the warren. His mind still wandered from the task, back to Carrot. A large serving of curiosity had been cooked in his brain and he now wanted the sauce made of answers to top it with.

Bracken jabbed Janet back, also in the ribs. Partially to talk, partially as payback. He waited until the anxiety bun had scraped the dirt further down the tunnel to ask, in a rather rushed and anxious voice, “Ok, so, I like him. Why. What is this. Help.” He gave Janet a pathetic look while the other buck looked like he was trying not to laugh. This was not an answer to Bracken’s question. Bracken jabbed Janet in the ribs again accompanied by the best glare he could, he’d been learning off Lilith. Janet stopped laughing with a disappointed ow and waited a few second before answering. “Bracken, you gay,” Janet chuckled. What.

Third Gathering - Bracken, Carrot and Janet
The players have been chosen, the stage set and the audience has their equivalent of popcorn. It is time for Gathering Round Three. The gentle spring breeze drifted over the hill with the trio of rabbits hopping along it. Usual stuff, same as usual. It’s a pleasant day, nothing’s trying to kill them. They just want food. Food is good. Unfortunately, they cannot get peace. Peace has run off, leaving behind some rather rude gestures. The air was quite tense, especially between Bracken and Carrot, though the latter couldn’t figure out why and it was bothering the red fluffy anxiety ball a lot.

Bracken was silently mulling over the events of the previous digging, which went rather well after Janet’s godly insight into his own existence. They had widened the tunnel enough for fat rabbits or kit armies to get through with ease. Yet he had barely noticed the passage of time, after all, there was new information that could change his world. He may, in fact, be gay. And that was a slightly concerning thought. What does it mean? Is anyone else gay? What is a gay? He almost let the thoughts consume him and force him to become a sentient rainbow. Thankfully, there was a conveniently placed rock. Which he tripped over. And fell flat on his face. Like the idiot he is.

Carrot, who had at this point only yanked out a few plants - roots and all, turned and chuckled at the dark brown idiot. The dark brown idiot, formally known as Bracken, attempted to bury his head in the grass and hide his blush. It failed, Carrot caught a glimpse as he turned back around and back to yanking up and ruining the lives of poor, innocent plants. What did the plants do to you, Carrot? What did they do? Bracken, eventually, got up as Janet jabbed him in the ribs again. Apparently their communication had become back and forth rib jabbings. It hurt but neither really wanted to admit it.

Bracken began having a small chat with Janet, mostly about Carrot. The pair were slightly concerned and confused by the red rabbit’s gathering tactics. He didn’t need to yank all the plant free from its home and family and yet, he did. Bracken and Janet went with the much more humane and efficient method of biting through the stem at the lowest point they could. Bracken and Janet were having a rather normal, everyday conversation about their usual garbage: Jeremy. Until Bracken’s tongue slipped and said what his brain explicitly told it not to, “He’s pretty handsome, he is.” Janet almost instantly stopped out of confusion, wondering which he Bracken was concerning. Until it clicked and he could barely hide his sniggering. He just nodded and calmly returned to his gathering, his giggles threatening to explode from his insides. He had to wonder, how many people could he tell until he had a very upset Bracken threatening to punch him again? He eventually arrived on the answer of none.

Third Hunting - Bracken, Carrot and Janet
Autumn had stormed into the lives of Warren Delta, bringing with it colder air and dying leaves. The trees were looking much more brown than usual with the leaves being various shades of orange, though it was mostly the browner shades. The leaves were not the colour of carrots. And for the fun of all kits and rabbits who never developed mentally past kithood, the leaves were fun and crunchy and all over the ground. Most of the warren was outside for dawn with teams of rabbits tasked with dragging piles and piles of leaves from the forest edges to where the warren was located. This was despite the fact that the huge ancient oaks above them did a very good job of providing them with the satisfying, crunchy leaves all on their own. The rabbits of Warren Delta needed more and bigger piles of leaves to jump and play in.

Bracken, Janet and Carrot were one such group of leaf collectors. The Guardians each lead a group and unfortunately the way things were drawn meant Janet and Jeremy were not together. Fortunately for Janet, he got front row seats to the mess that was Bracken trying to avoid Carrot and the fact that he’s as gay as the rainbow from yesterday. The tasks of the Leaf Patrols included the normal responsibilities of those hunting, which were finding new food and any issues with old sources, but also new ones altered for their special tasks. Their new responsibilities were to gather leaves and check for any trees that may dump its leaves later in the season.

Bracken lead the patrol and relayed instructions back to Carrot and Janet. Well, back to Janet as he was still trying to avoid talking to Carrot. Carrot had, finally, noticed his odd behaviour and recognised it as odd. He’d attempted to prod the larger, brown buck for answers but got completely ignored. As far as their ‘relationship’ was going, Bracken was not helping things. On this particular day Carrot had finally worked up the courage to ask Janet for answers or help with the situation. He took a deep breath, looked over to the grey buck and froze. His mind was suddenly filled with thoughts of ‘nope’. This was a problem. Hey turned back to Janet and, in a brief moment between the ‘nope’s splurged out, “Janet why is Bracken ignoring me like this?” He took a moment of silence to breathe, he’d spoken louder than intended but Bracken had made no indication that he’d heard him.

Janet looked over at the orange-red buck and, for a few seconds, thought about how similar he was to the colour of the leaves. He dragged his mind back to the question and then he remembered. This was the thing Bracken was concerned about. The one thing that was an issue for the moment. He couldn’t help sniggering, and had to turn back to what he was doing. His answer was only a shrug, leaving Carrot even more confused.

Third Patrolling - Bracken, Carrot and Janet
It was just a couple of days after the leaf hunting and things were getting ore tense and uncomfortable between Bracken and Carrot. The pile of leaves they’d helped build was still sat, slowly rotting into crumbly, sad leaf bits that are no good for playing in. Janet was hanging behind the pair of idiotic bucks, sniggering at Carrots attempts to communicate being completely ignored by Bracken. It eventually came to Janet's attention that Carrot was getting rather nervous around Bracken, back to his old flighty self before they got to know him. He was worried about the little buck, he almost considered Carrot his son.

Janet jabbed Bracken to get his attention and waited patiently for the dumb brown buck to fall back. “Bracken, I’m concerned about your ‘friend’ there. He’s looking a little more nervous than usual. Think it’s something to do with you,” Janet whispered to Bracken, nodding to Carrot as he mentioned him. Bracken looked back, a look of concern flashing over his face. “I’ll.. I’ll try and speak to him, okay Janet?” Bracken smiled weakly, shook his fur and hopped back next to Carrot. He kept a short distance from the red buck, about 5 paw lengths, give or take. He didn’t want to feel too threatening for him. Janet just shook his head and smiled, deciding to be the one rabbit of the group who actually patrolled. Janet was rather peaceful on this day, Jeremy was safe inside the warren and nothing was actively trying to kill him. It was a good day as far as he was concerned.

Bracken paused and turned to Carrot, “Hey, uh… Carrot? Can I uh… Speak to you a sec?” He asked, his voice full of an odd kind of uncertainty he’d never felt before. It felt as though he wasn’t sure of himself and his ability to say what was coming next. That was a stupid thought, he knew who he was and had full faith in his abilities. It’s what made him such a good buck. Carrot turned to look at him and in the instance their eyes met, Bracken suddenly realised why he’d felt so uncertain. He couldn’t do it, he couldn’t say what he planned. He couldn’t admit why he’d been avoiding him. He felt like a complete, utter idiot.

Carrot stared at him for a bit before asking, “Wh-what’s up, Bracken?” He felt a little unnerved by his friends silence. Bracken snapped back out of his thoughts, staring slightly startled at Bracken. “Oh, um.. N-noth- Um, actually, I just wanted to say… I’m glad to have you as a friend?” He chuckled slightly, his thoughts replaced with a loop of ‘that was utterly garbage’. Carrot stared at him weirdly, wondering if he meant to say something different. He nodded, still glancing back at Bracken, trying to wordlessly force him to say what he was going to say. Janet was still in the back, the sniggers having returned full force. He loved watching those two idiots.

Fifth Digging - Bracken, Carrot and Janet
Unfortunately for the trio, the ceiling of the Whisperer’s den had decided to collapse and the current gossip fodder had been tasked to clear it and create stable roofing for the Whisperer to work in. None of the three were quite comfortable with the task and the current tension between Bracken and Carrot was not helping things. The pair were talking, if you could call one sentence question and answer sessions that died almost immediately ‘talking’. They were digging on opposite sides of the collapse with Janet comfortably in the middle, acting as a messenger for most of what the other two wanted to say, seeing as they could barely talk over the sound of their own digging. Janet himself was struggling to contain the laughter that was strongly threatening to burst his insides. That should probably be an illegal thing for laughter to do, but it probably wouldn’t help the situation.

Bracken was very, very carefully removing the dirt into neat little dirt piles. Quite unusual considering his normal tactic of murder now, rebuild later. His mind was quite occupied as he conversed in short, rather useless sentences about meaningless topics such as the weather and how hard the work was. He was truly wondering how to bring everything back from the mess that was their last patrol together, he’d made an utter mess of it. He turned to the little dirt piles he’d made, carefully forming them into a giant dirt mountain of doom, a dirt mountain that would best all other dirt mountains at being a dirt mountain.

Carrot was just digging as he normally did, making small pockets in the wall of dirt before clearing the rest away. While it was an odd method, most of the warren had accepted that that was his way of doing things and let him continue. He paused in his attempt at giving the wall a bit of decoration and turned to Bracken, in one last attempt to uncover what the buck wanted to say. “Bracken, what did you want to say to me on that patrol?” He stared intently, trying to make him answer with his bun mind powers that didn’t exist.

Bracken completely froze, slowly turning his head to Carrot with wide eyes. “Uh.. Um, uh.. It.. I’ve, uh, I’ve forgotten?” He chuckled nervously. His mind, having been infected by the ‘nope’ from Carrot, was full of a long, dancing string of ‘nope’ that b,locked out any other coherent thought as if it were teasing him. Carrot stared at him as if he was calling him an idiot but was also too nervous to actually stare like that. There was an awkwardly long silence that lasted a few seconds before Carrot spoke. “Right.. Okay…” He turned back to his digging, continuing the ‘art’ he’d started before. Bracken attempted to turn back to his but was stopped by a sharp jab from Janet. He turned to his old friend and was met by a murderous glare. “You better do something, Bracken,” the grey bucked seemed to hiss. Bracken chuckled nervously and cautiously returned to digging, hoping Janet would not kill him in the process.

Fourth Gathering - Bracken, Carrot and Janet
Accompanied by a rather aggressive wind and some equally aggressive glares from Janet, glares that could rival Lilith-rah’s, Bracken hopped uneasily along the hillside of the warren. To his left was Janet, to his right his friend Carrot. He sorely wished he could change the ‘friend’ to ‘mate’, however his inability to speak properly on the subject was quite an issue, one hat heavily prevented any progress to solving the problem. He was thinking over his chances of solving it while he picked the grasses and flowers they needed for the warren. Everything was rather peaceful, if a bit tense, until Bracken got a familiar jab in his side.

The pair dropped back slightly to have a slightly heated whispered conversation. Janet was quite angry at his friend’s reluctance to sort the whole mess out though he didn’t actively say anything about his feelings. “Bracken, you said you’d have sorted it by now,” Janet hissed at his fluffy brown friend. Bracken looked rather uncomfortable, he had in fact promised he would have sorted it, however things happened and he didn’t. They were not things he was comfortable sharing, though, they were a tad embarrassing for someone of his position. “I know, I know,” Bracken replied. “Look, I’ll have it sorted by the end of the day, okay?” Janet nodded suspiciously and let Bracken speed up to Carrot’s side, keeping a watchful eye on him. He started to neglect his gathering responsibilities and chose instead to glare at the brown buck’s back, in an attempt to scare him into splurging what he needed to say.

Bracken hopped closer next to Carrot, his paws doing a strange shuffle as if they were casually dancing as he walked. A nervous smile spread across his face, a smile that was ruining the lie that he knew what he was doing. He gently tapped the gathering buck on his shoulder, startling the poor bean out of his skin. “S-sorry Carrot.. I, uh.. I wanted to talk to you?” He chuckled nervously, he’s in danger of losing his loose hold on his emotions. Carrot turned round with a smile on his face, “Sure, what d’ya need?” He plonked his butt on the ground, waiting for Bracken to continue.

Bracken opened and closed his mouth in silence trying to find the right words to start this off with. Janet was glaring into his soul, wordlessly telling him to get on with it. Eventually, he did speak. “Hey, so, um.. I, uh.. Frith, how do I say this..?” Talking was hard. Carrot sat with an expectant look on his face, looking like an adorable fluff ball. “Frith damn it, Carrot I… I love you, okay? That’s what I’ve been trying to avoid for… ages,” Bracken almost yelled it and felt a rather strong blush attack his cheeks. A silent silence filled the air, crickets would have been heard if it was night time. Janet silently cheered, he’d finally said it. Carrot sat in silence, as if he had not quite registered what Bracken had just said.

A few more seconds passed before the dumb red fluff ball spoke up, “I… Bracken, I love you too. You’re a big idiot, you know?” Bracken started crying with happiness, tears dripping off his face as if it were a leaky tap. Carrot soon followed his example and was also crying, the pair of them snuggling on the hillside. Janet sat there with a dumb, happy grin on his face. It was finally over. After enough crying and hugging, the trio got back to gathering, happily dashing around to get back before sundown.

Fourth Hunting - Bracken and Carrot
A soft spring breeze ruffled the leaves of the trees, the wiggling grass on the ground and the soft fur of two bucks who were gently hopping along the vibrant green hillside of their home. The cheerful songs of the nearby forest songbirds drifted towards the rabbits’ ears, a gentle whisper of the true chorus happening a distance away. The soft fur of the red coloured buck, Carrot, was quite a bit fluffier than usual. It seemed to have poofed up in the days since his gathering with Janet and Bracken. His previously rather ragged looking pelt had a soft shine to it, matching the happy glint in his eye as he followed his mate. The brown buck with darker swirls in his fur and a few splotches of white on his chest and chin who was named Bracken and only as of recently Bracken’s mate hopped steadily along the hill, just ahead of his bright furred companion.

The pair were having a great time on their hunting, a rather usual affair for the time of year. No one truly enjoyed spending too much time above ground during the summer and any food they could locate would be extremely welcome. Unfortunately for the rest of the warren, this particular outing was looking to be a bit of a waste of time, the pair were more interested in each other than the world around them. If only their rather more sensible friends, which is a surprising statement given their own antics, weren’t busy with their own tasks more work would be done today.

Bracken turned around to face his mate, his greatest companion but the cause of so much tension and confusion for him. He grinned at the smaller rabbit, a slightly evil glint in his eye. Carrot paused, confusion and concern flooding his whole, rather small, body as he stared back at the grinning face. A small, terrified smile spread across his lips, a sharp shiver flickered down his spine. And then, just moments later, The brown buck pounced, leaping on top of his companion and bowling him over. He flopped down on top of the smaller bun, almost smothering him. Tiny squirms and rather helpless sounding cries emerged from under Bracken’s fur. He released the red bun enough to roll over before squishing him again, the two tall bun pile was complete. The two buns lay in silence, Carrot rather squished and warm and Bracken comfortably lying on his warm squishy pillow of a friend.

A few moments past, then a few more. It took a while, but Carrot eventually started to question and complain. “What was this for?!” He huffed, trying to wriggle into a slightly more comfortable position. He knew that when he was eventually freed, the parts of him underneath the big brute that is Bracken would be a touch more crushed than they were before. Bracken shrugged, briefly providing the miracle that was freedom for some of Carrot’s body before squishing it again. “Dunno, felt like a good idea at the time. Besides, you’re comfortable,” Bracken replied, nuzzling his annoyed but trapped pillow. Carrot huffed again, “Well can you please get off? We do have work to do.” Bracken only chuckled in response.

Fourth Patrolling - Carrot
Weeks had passed since Carrot became Bracken’s pillow, summer was looming on the horizon. The mild spring days had heated to an almost unbearable temperature. The hill was a vibrant bright green, from the grass to the leaves on the very tips of the trees. A brilliant blue sky was the backdrop to the many colours of late spring, lightly speckled with wisps of clouds drifting lazily across the world. The estuary just below the warren was bustling with activity, many humans in colourful clothes flocking for a dip in the blue-gray water, shouting and laughing as they swam and played.

On top of the hill, between the roots of the three ancient trees on the top of the hill and looking over the edge of the cliff, Carrot sat peacefully watching the funny little people below him. His attention had been grabbed by their strange movements and paths, their lack of care for the dangers around them and the odd clothing they wear. He watched with quiet interest, a hint of fear guiding his every movement. Despite recent events lessening his uncertainty about the world, he was still a rabbit, hunted by all he knew. His reason for being outside was a rather routine one in the warren, e was on patrol. Or he was meant to be. Since he began, his attention had been dragged away from his actual job, though thankfully the time of year meant very few elil were around. He was content to watch the people below, even if it wasn’t what he was mean to be doing.

The sun was rather low in the sky as he turned to leave, carefully stepping over the roots of the ancient trees he’d been sitting under. His cautiousness was making progress rather slow but steady but his paws were clean and dry, not a cut on him. All was well on this fine summer day. A songbird flitted out of the tree above him, singing its beautiful melody as it flew. Carrot’s attention was drawn towards it, his eyes wide with complete awe. The tiny creature was so small and light yet so unafraid and beautiful. It was so unlike a rabbit in so many ways he could not truly believe it was real.

And then, he missed a step. His foot caught on a root beneath him, causing him to lose his balance. Time seemed to pause, he hovered in the air as his stomach dropped faster than the rest of his body. He hit the ground in such a way that the angle of the hill caused him to start rolling. He tumbled and fell down the hill, rolling over his warren, rolling over where his friends were sleeping just previously. As he passed he caught glimpses of the shocked faces of his warrenmates, some laughing and some with food dropping from their mouths. But it was only brief, the shame from the sight had only a second to latch onto his mind. He rolled faster and faster, down and down the hill, bumping over rocks and roots. He finally stopped at the bottom of the hill, a good distance from where he began and on the flat grassy land just before the human village. It seemed he had quite the walk ahead of him. Perhaps he should finish his patrol.
