Slowly walking down the aisles of the library jasper took a glance at the many books along the walls and shelves. There were so many to choose from. Fiction or nonfiction? Realistic or fantasy? Action or adventure? History book or memoir? Too many options to choose from, it was a little overwhelming. Jasper is the type to really read anything, although they did enjoy more realistic fiction or memoirs over the crazy fantasy worlds that could be a little hard to keep up with. Finding their way over to the realistic fiction section of the library jasper carefully read each title of the books, wanting to choose something that sounded interesting. Picking up a few books they read the description on the back before replacing it to its spot. Finally one title caught their eye. the plague dogs. The description speaks of two dogs who have escaped an animal testing lab, but now must face new battles. Happy with their choice jasper was about to check the book out, but was stopped in their tracks when the aisle grew bright and hot. Turning their face to the side jasper squeezed their eyes shut to avoid any harmful affects the lights may have. They feel the heat die and figure the light has faded as well.
Looking back jasper is surprised to see a young man standing before him. Stepping back from him jasper gapes at the man who claims to be the god apollo. Was this real? was their father really standung before them. Part of jasper wanted to reach out and try and touch the image, but their fear held them back. hiw they wushed to hug him. instead they quietly listened as the god explained to them the dire situation, however the ego that was emitting from the immortal was slightly annoying, but they dismissed their fathers behavior. Before jasper could even ask a question, like the god implied they would be able to do at the end of his speech, apollo was gone. that was that. no i love you. just a speech. that hurt. Glancing around it seemed as if nobody else noticed the gods sudden and very bright entrance. Then the roof gave in.That got everybody's attention. A section of the ceiling bubbled and hissed, falling in. Forgetting about the book in hand jasper ran through the aisle toward the fallen in ceiling. The edges were covered in green goo. Grabbing an arrow from their quiver jasper poked the goo, only to have the arrow tip melt upon impact. Acid. looking through the hole in the ceiling jasper caught sight of something scaly and wiggly very high up. Is this what apollo had just warned them about?
Running for the entrance of the library jasper had to freeze at the door. There were many people outside running away and if they went outside they would risk being bumped into. However across the street something was atop the empire state building gleefully spitting its acid into the street below. Needing to protect the humans jasper had to overcome the risk of their fear. Shoving the library doors open jasper was barely able to dodge past a fleeing man, but they made it into the street without being run into. Looking up to what they assumed was the hydra jasper quickly came up with an idea. Grabbing their bow and and notching an arrow they took aim.

in her short life casey has seen some pretty disgusting things. larvae feasting on rotten food, someone breaking their arm, a toilet backed up with ... unspeakable substances. but never before has she seen one creature munching on another. unless you count someone chewing on ribs or a hamburger. but those creature are at least dead and cooked.what casey saw before her caught her off guard and she found the only thing she could do is watch. it was as if all of her motor and brain functions quit working. in a sea of chaos casey found herself a rock being bombarded by the raging currents. then a voice arose from the screams and cries that filled the air. regaining control of her movements casey turned her head to see a girl standing not too far off. it took a quick moment for her question to register, but when it did caseys hand immediately went to her waist band where another dagger was hidden. however her hand didn't move to grab the knife, instead it moved protectively over to the weapon. casey only ever used one dagger out of the pair. the other was supposed to be her brothers, that is if he ever lived to receive it. vowing to never use it casey wasn't about to give it up. returning her eyes to the bloodthirsty horse casey had to choose quickly. give up a sacred item to save this life, and possibly many more. or keep the knife to herself and do nothing as people die around her. lifting up the side of her shirt, and with a shaky hand, casey grabbed the dagger and held it out hilt first to the other girl. to borrow, not keep. she said to the girl.

╚____________________________╝The brown-haired teen nursed the warm cup of hot chocolate in his hands as he left the coffee shop he was just in. Taking a deep breath, he looked around the street, studying the different machinery that New York was always filled with. Humming a song softly to himself, he set on his walk down the street, although with his limp on his leg. That was one of the many things his father and him had in common thanks to a few spiteful monsters. Since the discovery of his godly parent, it had caused the boys self-confidence to grow, although only slightly from the zero it was at before. As he was getting lost in his thoughts a bright flash of light blinded him for a few seconds before he could see what had caused it, not expecting to see the god of the sun himself as he eagerly listened to Apollo, and when he heard about the prophecy, he set his cup on a nearby table and pulled out a small notebook and wrote down his words, but when he opened his mouth to ask a question, the god was already gone.
Sighing a bit, Oliver turned to pick up his cup before hearing shrieks and a sizzling noise as he glanced up at the building and took a step back when the wall started to deteriorate. As he looked around the scene before him, his eyes were drawn to a creature scaling the empire state building and the demigod could've sworn he was in a King Kong movie. As he looked around at the terrified people, Apollo's words echoing in his ears, he started to limp towards the tower, trying to come up with anything that could shield them from the acid that wouldn't melt it. As he thought of it, he fixed his brown eyes on what seemed like another teen who had an bow and arrow and was aiming it at the creature, who he now realized it was a hyrda. "I-I....that's...a hyrda," he managed to spit out as he looked up at the multi-headed creature, his hands warming up, although it wasn't from his hot chocolate this time.

xxxxxMercedes grumbled, "Oh, quiet! Listen, bud. I don't have a single weapon, especially because my powers don't function correctly, so a stick might be the best I can get. Unless you wanna, I dunno, find me something with celestial bronze, we're stuck looking for sticks," she hissed, spinning back around, looking for the best thing she could use as a weapon. None of the sticks were good enough, really. They weren't sturdy enough, or they wouldn't be effective, just not good in general. She continued to search, growing more increasingly frustrated, this being more evident in the noises she made and the force she gave when tossing the sticks away, some breaking against nearby trees. Eventually, she gave up, walking back towards the tree and pulling her knees to her face, wrapping her arms around her legs and setting her chin on her knees.
"I'm not sure what I'll be able to use, she whispered to herself, voice very quiet, and very soft. "I can't get my powers to work, and I can't defend myself, this is... this is horrible." She'd stopped speaking after that, chosing to bury her head into her knees, growing more anxious about being unable to defend herself, the resolutions to this problem being casted to the side constantly, as she deemed them being unable to work in the end.
