So, my dad recently got ill with a lifelong disease. It's a sort that weakens the immune system. This means my likelihood of owning any kind of rodent is miliscule despite having some soap dogging dogs. I really wanted rats for a while, did many hours of research but knew the likelihood of owning them was nonexistent. I'm really interested in owning mice, a hamster or some rats though I'll have to wait quite a while for that.

Why do you need to wait for rats? They do not carry diseases if they aren't feral.

They are the type of family to see rodents as dirty, especially rats, even though I composed all of the information for them in order to disprove of this.

Tell us about your pets: In April 2014 I got my first Rats, Lucifer, a Black Rex and Satan, a Himalayan Rex. Lucifer was my soul rat, he died on Halloween 2015 while we were watching a film together. I added Yogi, a Burmese Rex and Bear, a Burmese in February 2015. My brother had a Hamster, which he lovingly named Hopeless, around this time. After I lost Bear, Lucifer and Satan, I adopted Poe and Marty, who turned out to be girls. They lived with until he passed away. Marty passed away sometime in 2016. Poe passed away around the time she turned 2. In November/December 2018 I brought home a Mouse named Milo after missing having rodents for the previous year. Eventually I would like to adopt more rodents, but am currently limited by space and the limited time that I have due to working. In addition to owning rodents I was brought up owning a multitude of other animals, from insects to fish to reptiles and currently live with 5 cats {including one that is deaf}, three dogs and 6 fish tanks. All my animals are as important to me as the others. I also currently work at a pet store, so if anyone has any none rodent questions, feel free to shoot me a PM if you would like.

Welcome to the thread! Check out the rat FAQ on the front page, that'll give you all the information you need to know. Make sure you do plenty of research before you purchase any. They require specific care! If you have specific questions, please let us know.
