A Graviern (Plural Graviei) is a gas being anchored to 2 very specific types of rocks, one as the "brain" and one as the "heart." The crystals are often 2 different colors. Graviei can take many, many different forms as they are just the gas around them, along with small pieces of rock, like a gas giant planet. They have control over gravity, which is how they form their bodies. They mostly form for the first time in caves with multiple special stones. They have very, very intense focus, as it is required to keep their physical forms. They do not wear clothes, but make their clothes out of pieces of rock and keep them up against the gas. Some protect their crystals with further rock.
The "brain" manages the bodily functions and movement and the "heart" controls the personality. However, both have some control over the other. It takes intense balance between the two, which most juvenile do not have, forcing them to take forms more based on the more powerful crystal.

Physically, they are made of gas and rock, like a planet, some preferring to take a more gas-like form or a more rock-like form. The color of the gas and rock transforms into a blend of the two crystals' colors (or if the crystals are the same color, that color). The clothes, however, being an outer layer, are different colors.

As controllers of their gravity, they can launch things towards other beings, make things orbit them, ect. This has made for interesting battles, and entertainment.

If a piece of crystal is chipped away from the brain, it has a 1/2400 chance of erasing an important skill or thought, while the heart has the chance of erasing an important memory, emotion, or personality trait.
Their last names are based on the one thing that will always be static about them, their gas/rock color.
They do get energy, mostly from their crystal, which can be "recharged" by absorbing gases that have been exposed to caves and/or mist (Caves with hot springs are beloved spots for Graviei), and yes, through food, though it kind of gets decomposed by a gas, unless the Graviern doesn't have a decomposing type gas.

They have their ways, one of which is then eroding. Upon letting themself lose too much energy, or being eroded to many times prior, a Graviern's crystal shuts down, using minimal energy to find its way to water. Upon arriving at water, the crystal leaves itself in there until all the prior memories are gone, as only the outer layer of crystals are used.

Crystals eroded too many times usually turn to dust upon being eroded too much and then get either
A) blown into another Graviern's gas/rock cloud
B) Get carried into another area, reforming the crystal.

They can also asexually reproduce. However, it's a very convoluted process, called "a trial to be sure you are ready for parenthood" by some elders of the species, and essentially, to create a child. Though part of this process could be considered "sexual," it is not in the traditional way, like, not like animals but more like crossbreeding flowers.

Essentially, first the adult must find a nice piece of rock and get it.
Second, they must find some moss. The moss isn't that specific, it just needs to be alive.
Third, they have to be formed underwater.
Fourth, they need to take some of their own life and put it on to the rock, attaching it using the moss. Then, in non-running water, they let it rest. Repeat for a second crystal, sometimes this is the partner's crystal if the two Gravierns are life partners.
