If Calais had ever been given the privilege of a human home, she would have been a handful. While not wholly unintelligent, her inability to sit still and pay attention has never won anyone over. In fact, it's often the thing she gets in trouble for the most. Her nose is always leading her into something else, the quick mind unable to tell it no.

When trouble does catch up to her and she finds herself face to face with her superiors, she often escapes without too much said, as her charismatic and uplifting words bubble out of her like toads, swimming through the ears of those opposite her. Only the level-headed are immune from these graces, able to pick passed and make their way to the center of the matter, facing down Calais with what she calls negativity. This is the worst that can happen in her eyes, and she will inevitable turn into a sniveling coward.

chika is the ultimate devil’s advocate, thriving on the process of shredd
ing arguments and beliefs and letting the ribbons drift in the wind for a
ll to see. unlike her more determined judging counterparts, chika doesn
't do this because she's trying to achieve some deeper purpose or strateg
ic goal, but for the simple reason that it's fun. no one loves the process
of mental sparring more than this female, as it gives she a chance to exe
rcise her effortlessly quick wit, broad knowledge base, and capacity for
connecting disparate ideas to prove her point.

however, an odd juxtaposition arises as she is uncompromisingly honest,
but will argue tirelessly for something she doesn't actually believe in, s
tepping into another's shoes to argue a truth from another perspective.
playing the devil’s advocate helps chika not only develop a better sense
of others' reasoning, but a better understanding of opposing ideas – sinc
e chika would be the the one arguing them. this tactic shouldn't be conf
used with some sort of mutual understanding- chika is simply on a const
ant quest for knowledge, and what better way to gain it than to attack
and defend an idea, from every angle, from every side?

taking a certain pleasure in being the underdog, chika enjoys the mental
exercise found in questioning the prevailing mode of thought. she loves t
o brainstorm and think big, but will avoid getting caught doing the "grunt
work" at all costs. she is more into creating original ideas, then stepping
back to let more fastidious personalities handle the logistics of implemen
tation and maintenance.

chikas capacity for debate can be a vexing one– while often appreciated
when it's called for, it can fall painfully flat when she steps on others' paw
s by say, openly questioning or picking apart every idea. this is further co
mplicated by her unyielding honesty, as she doesn't mince words and cares
little about being seen as sensitive or compassionate. likeminded dogs get
along well enough with her, but more sensitive types are often conflict-av
erse, preferring feelings, comfort, and even white lies over unpleasant tru
ths and hard rationality.

harley is a true free spirit. once a working dog on the outskirts, and often
considered the life of the party. however, unlike some, he's less interested
in sheer excitement and pleasure of the moment and prefers enjoying the
social and emotional connections he makes with others. he's more than ju
st a socialite though- harley is shaped by his intuitive quality, allowing him
to read between the lines with curiosity and energy. he tends to see life as
a big, complex puzzle where everything is connected– seeing through a pris
m of emotion, compassion and mysticism.

many are likely to find his qualities irresistible, and if he's found a cause th
at sparks his imagination, harley will bring an energy that oftentimes thrust
s him into the spotlight– but this isn’t always where this independence-lovin
g male want to be. his self-esteem is dependent on his ability to come up wi
th original solutions, and he needs to know that he has the freedom to be in
novative, otherwise he can quickly lose patience or become dejected when
trapped in boredom.

luckily, harley knows how and when to relax, perfectly capable of switching
from a passionate, driven idealist to that imaginative and enthusiastic free s

ey needs to be careful, however– if he relies too much on his intuition, assum
e or anticipate too much about something, he can misread the signals and fru
strate plans that a more straightforward approach would have made simple. b

ws, they both feel it.

harley is like a double-edged sword– this pure passion comes with certain expe
ctations, and too often he holds his friends in an unrealistic light, expecting th
em to keep up with the constant flow of ideas and experiences. however, his o
pen-minded and sincere traits are enough to make him recognize that not ever
yone expresses themselves in the same ways, and that that’s okay. the only gro
up that cannot pass this filter are the strays. he is not a fighter, but will give ev
