So I obviously got more rummynose. Just curious if anyone else has had any just swimming around randomly than just lay in the bottom corner just breathing. He's doing much better was it just spooked, or trying to work out if he was dreaming? ^_^

My catfish does the same thing! He'll just sit in a spot (usually by some plants) and just 'sleep'. It freaked me out at first because I thought he was dead but he'd start moving again in a few minutes.

Hello I don't think I've ever posted here but I read the thread a lot
Was wondering if anyone has had experience moving cities/states with a fish tank? How did you do it?

I had fish in high school (a goldfish and a catfish) The goldfish passed away sadly from a disease my BF and I didn't spot until it was too late, and the catfish passed away when we went on vacation and the person in charge of feeding him forgot to (I'm still a little bitter about it lol). I've been thinking of getting more fish, possibly a betta or another goldfish, but my big problem is I know I am moving sometime soon, I just don't know exactly when. So yeah that's my fish story and question :D

The smaller the tank, the easier it will be to move. I've moved 20, 10, and 5 gallon tanks. When moving your setup, you want to put the fish in separate bags or containers making sure they have plenty of air to make the trip. Unless you plan on stopping along the way to open them. Also, fully empty your tank of all water. Moving a tank with water, even a small amount, can cause too much pressure on the seams and it can break. I just leave my decorations in the tank for transport unless they are too heavy. SAVE as much of the original tank water are you can because it will be easier to re-establish your tank when you set it back up. I wouldn't change your filter either because it has beneficial bacteria for your tank.

A betta needs 2.5 gal minimum so it would be a lot easier to move a betta tank than a goldfish tank.

How far will you need to move your tank?

Thank you for the advice! It'll be a 10-hour drive (not including traffic). I'm not planning on using a moving company since I really don't have that much stuff and I have a big car, so the tank will be in a car and not a truck so I can secure it properly. Then it will be less anxiety for me

I've got so many baby guppies right now :O

Good thing I got them out of the 10 gallon and into the 30 gallon long. I don't mind them populating since there's much more space now. I kinda feel bad for the females being constantly pregnant and chased around by the males all the time though.

My poor panda is constantly being chased by a male and I feel so bad for her :(

Guess who forgot to turn of the heater while doing water change? Guess who now has a burn on her hand... -_- Lesson of the day: heaters get REALLY hot when they are on and not in the water. Like mine was evaporating water I splashed on it...

That aside, I'm super super happy with the new lights. No additional algae, my old Hygrophile polysperma is growing three times as fast as it used to and most of the new plants are doing okay. The only one not looking fine is the one I was warned to be very finicky. It's really funny as I keep reading that some people have 0 issues growing it under varying conditions, like from low light-no CO2 to higher tech setups, and yet some can't make it work at all.
Can we pretend that the airplanes in the night sky are like shooting stars?
I could really use a wish right now, wish right now, wish right now...

Same thing with mine! I had separated her from my main tank almost 2 weeks ago cause the males kept chasing her. Ahhh but she’s a beautiful girl so I’m curious to see how her little babies will be. She’s getting that pregnancy bump and her gravid spot is slowly getting darker.
Ahhhh guppy babies <3 I can’t wait!

I recently got a bit more space available so I was finally able move my betta fish from a 2.5 gallon tank to a 5 gallon three days ago. I'm by no means an expert on caring for fish but I did my best to do as much research as possible before moving him and making sure the conditions were right. I know initial stress with a tank change is normal, but he hasn't tried eating at all since the move and spends most of his time in one of his hides opposite to the filter or tucked in the corner behind it. The filter I'm using is a power filter and I assumed that he didn't like the current so I lowered it down as far as I could but he still won't move. I tried turning it off and sure enough, he came out of his corner and swam around the tank a bit before retreating back. He's continued doing this a couple more times since I shut it off but I know that I obviously can't leave it off forever and need to turn it back on. I was just wondering if anyone has any advice for lowering the current produced by the filter? I'm also getting the water tested as soon as I can in case there's any problems with that. Any help is really appreciated!

Stuff some filter sponge in the outtake or make a baffle.

He'll get used to his new home eventually c:
Bettas prefer lots of plants or decorations to hide around so if there's lots of empty space it might be too open for him right now.
