He stood atop a hill, his fur plastered down with thick globs of mud. It was questionable if anyone would even recognize him as he was, but Darkpaw hardly seemed to realize that. His mind was too focused on finding someone - anyone really, that had survived the storm. He was colder and hungrier than he had ever been before, having only managed to find a soggy mouse a few days prior, drowned by the storm. Darkpaw had searched between his restless naps and fruitless hunts for any of his clanmates, but had only found the lifeless bodies of Pebblestep and Stonekit, the warrior still holding his kit tightly in his jaws. It had been terrifying to see such a strong warrior crumpled up and discarded like a wet scrap of fur, but even more so to see that the storm had not even spared the young life of a kit.

Once he had gotten past his initial terror, Darkpaw had groomed them and sat vigil for them, spending the rest of the day digging in the mud so that he could bury them. That had been yesterday. An abrupt cry in the distance caught his attention and he quickly hurried down the slope, the ground squelching around his paws. Perhaps it was a bird, or maybe even a clanmate. Either way, he ran towards where he believed the sound had come from, though he saw no sign of what made it. β€œHello? Is anyone there?” he called out. Darkpaw tried wiping off some of the mud obscuring his face so that he could see a bit better, but only managed to smear it more. Reedpaw too was covered in mud, and as such, Darkpaw failed to spot the other tom.

Grassleap
Grassleap frowned as her clanmates bickered in front of her. There was really no reason for them to be arguing, but tensions were still high after they had reunited and clanmates remained missing. Her mate was one of the missing cats, though Grassleap was confident he would be fine. It certainly was comforting to see that Shatteredmoon had survived. Even if they weren’t mates anymore, she still regarded him as a close friend. Watching as patrols were organized, Grassleap got to her paws. No one beside her mate and the two medicine cats knew that she was pregnant yet, but she was determined to help as long as possible, especially after all that had happened. β€œFoxpond, what can I do to help? I can go hunting or look for survivors if you want? Or should I get started on building shelter for everyone?”

Dust Bunny (Dusty)
She looked up in surprise as another cat talked to her, and unable to turn around and see who it was, believed it to be her mother. Dusty was carefully extracted from the mud and nearly cried out in relief as she was freed. Now her and her mother could go home to their warm den and lay on the soft nest that their twolegs gave them. She was carried away from the mud and set down, purring as she was groomed and her pelt freed from the icky mud. Already she could feel herself beginning to warm up and the scent of milk quickly lured her in and she began eagerly nursing. The only thing missing now was her siblings wriggling beside her, though she didn’t think much of it. It wasn’t until her belly was full for the first time in days that she noticed that it was in fact not her mother. Dusty blinked in confusion. β€œWho are you?” she asked, clearly not afraid but still unsure.

Wolfheart
His paws ached from having been searching all night and into the day, but he refused to give up now. There were still clanmates missing. Lagoonstar was one of them. Wolfheart shook himself, uncaring of the mud clumping up his paws and belly fur. He couldn’t just stop now when his clan was still so fragmented and missing so many. Cloudsniffle would have a fit for sure when he saw him. Pushing himself onward, he noticed movement in the distance and quickly lifted his head to scent the air. They were cats, though their scent was too obscured to tell much. Likely from the mud and water clinging to everything. Wolfheart ignored his aching muscles and sprang forward, running towards them as only countless moons of running through the territory kept him on his paws as he splashed through puddles of water and slippery mud alike. He slowed to a stop in front of two loners and felt disappointment wash through him as he stared at them, panting at the exertion. These two scrawny cats certainly weren’t his clanmates. β€œThis is Slateclan territory, though the rain likely washed the markers away,” he said after catching his breath. β€œAre you lost?” Wolfheart sat down, trying to will his limbs to stop shaking. It had only been a little run, yet the sickness still lingered after all these moons. He could only hope that it didn’t return this leaf-bare or else he may not live to see newleaf.

Whispterthistle's ears flicked as she waited patiently to be summoned for the patrol- which admittedly came sooner than she anticipated. At Shatteredmoon's voice and flick of his tail the molly moved, falling in just behind and to the side of him she bobbed her head, her jaws parting just the slightest to take in the scents around them more efficiently. For the most part all she could smell was the pungent smell of mud that squeezed up and between her toes- a feeling she detested more than anything else. Never the less she remained alert, forcing herself not to focus on the feeling of the sludge between her toes her ears flicked back just the slightest as they made their way towards the small, forest like group of trees just in the distance.

Peonypelt had drifted into a light sleep, pulled under the dark curtain of rest by the grasp of exhaustion that wracked her body. She slept peacefully, well as peacefully as one could be when your belly was raw from all of the wet and abrasive mud that caked it. Nevertheless she laid quietly perhaps she was simply giving up? Her dreams were blank, no rolling fields of rabbits to be caught and not even the vivid dreams of the wretched storm. Nothing but the blackness that she saw even with her eyes open. Suddenly though her dreamworld crumbled away as she jolted awake by a searing pain on her shoulder, another came, and then another and she looked about wildly- the sound of massive wings slapping against the air and the screeches and calls of vultures. Her pelt bristled and she hissed, pulling herself up from the mud the gaunt molly swiped out blindly- her claws reaching nothing but air when another sharp beak found it's way to her hip. Peonypelt let out a sharp cry, whirling around to take another swipe at the air before she hobbled farther into the thicket, her paws sank in the mud and she flicked her ears back- she could hear the sound of something directly behind her. Following her.

With that the molly stilled, turning around in matter of seconds and reaching with an outstretched paw to claw where the sounds came from. Her paw made contact and a screech ripped at the still air around her before wings beat down on the earth and not one, not two, but three vultures took tot he sky. They could be seen hovering, circling like they were waiting for something to die. They were indeed intelligent birds as Peonypelt stood heaving before she lowered herself in the waterlogged soil again, she couldn't see where she was at but she was out in the open of the small forest, in one of the few bare spots that was among all of the vegetation. She wasn't exactly visible, her once creamy white fur caked in mud and her frame withered away down to nothing- she didn't know though. So the little feline stayed still, hunched in about herself with her head lowered and blue cloudy eyes flickering about blindly.

Badgertail could see the small spark of anger before it flashed away in Thistlepaw's face and she felt pity for the young tom- he had lost part of his world. She didn't coddle him though, instead she offered a soft smile, her ears perking as he spoke. Initially she felt bad, she didn't know if they had eaten but then again neither of them would be permitted outside of this small safe spot they found, so in theory the warriors and apprentices needed the prey more for fuel. Which is what she settled on and she gave a small shake of her head, "I don't know if they've eaten yet, but- it is important in these next few days that the warriors and apprentices keep their strength up. We will be doing a lot of hunting, searching, and gathering over the next several sunrises. One small mouse won't make a difference in the grand scheme of things. I'm sure we will find prey at some point to give them, I promise." Badgertail's tone was genuine, a true promise as she crouched, her lips curling just the slightest in distaste for the wet ground that seeped into her plush belly fur.

A small swell of pride swelled in her chest at Thistlepaw's latest question and just as she was going to object she relented, "I'll take a nibble or two, nothing more and nothing less. You're still learning and growing, your body needs it more than mine." Her words were followed by a warm purr, sweet and thick like honey. She reached towards the mouse, taking a tiny bite from the flank of the heather colored animal before nudging it towards her apprentice. It was stringy- a sign that the mouse was likely old but it was mouthwatering and the warmth of the meal was comforting, which she reveled in. Her ears flicked at Foxpond's name and she shook her head, licking her muzzle clean, "I know that Shatteredmoon took a patrol out to gather supplies. I suspect that Foxpond will either keep the rest of us here to make sure no desperate scavengers come looking or we will be sent out to hunt or scavenge what we can." Her tone was thoughtful as she shifted, sitting up now she looked over her shoulder at the small cluster of cats that remained. Would the truly scavenge if they had the opportunity to? She knew for a fact there must be prey animals that didn't make it out alive but would they put aside their usually fresh prey for something a bit more past its due date?

Foxpond-Tom-Deputy-Somewhere-Tags: ALl cats

Foxponds eyes blazed. "I am perfectly capable of ordering patrols. We don't need another deputy. LAGoONSTAR ISN"T DEAD!" He snarled and anger flared in his eyes. How dare this warrior imply that another deputy was needed? "I won't become Foxstar because there IS STILL A LAGOONSTAR!" He snarled and flattened his ears. Foxpond was deeply upset even thinking that Lagoonstar would not make it out alive. He glared at the warrior a moment longer then flicked his tail to dismiss the tom. He nodded at Shatteredmoon. "Thank you for your words however there will be no Foxstar for while. Lagoonstar isn't dead." He kept insisting. "And you, Grassheart. Can you say here and maybe try to rebuild a few nests and make a little shelter?" HE looked around. "There might be rogues who are suffering just like us, who knows if they might pop in to steal something." After a while, he padded and sat somewhere, not far from the makeshift camp. he lifted his nose. "Wolfheart?" HE questioned. The old tom hadn't gone far. He followed the toms trail. "Wolfheart?" He questioned and when he saw Wolfheart he rushed to his side. Ignoring the other cats because he was much too worried about his clanmate. He murmured something and began licking away the dirt and debris from the old tom's face. He had instantly started searching for wounds. "Are you okay? Are you fit enough to travel? The clan- Most of the clan is back!"

Lizardeye-She cat-Warrior-Somewhere-Tags: Patrol.

Lizardeye rolled her eyes. "You should be ashamed!" She spat. "You know just as well that Foxpond had been very close to Lagoonstar!" She growled. "You ignorant fleabag!" She dug her claws into the ground. "What makes you think it's okay to start taking on jobs as if Lagoonstar is dead?!" She screeched. Without waiting for a reply she carried on. "We need all the help we can get now, yet that doesn't mean take cats jobs and such!" He snarled, now outraged. "What if you were lost and alone out there huh? You'd die alone because if you were in Lagoonstars place I'm sure you wouldn't like your clan to forgot about you and just pretend like it's nothing. Huh?" She challenged him.

"H-hmph." Reedpaw tried to call out but his voice was raw and his Hello turned into a moan. He recognized a voice. Darkpaw! "D-dark.." He mew was drowned out by him coughing.

━━ i. molly ii. 46 moons iii. warrior app. none loc. > small forest tags. shatteredmoon, lizardeye, patrol mood. pissy, curious

    ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
Anger. Boiling anger stirred deep within Whisperthistle's blood at Lizardeye's attack on Shatteredmoon. Her fur bristled and her muscles twitched at the overwhelming feeling of it all. Whisperthistle was what one could consider a generally tranquil being- never one to get in arguments or really cause drama she was in the clan more or less for her sheer strength and knack at fighting. Her ears slicked back to the sides of her head and the obsidian pelt that covered the molly formed a large crest from the nape of her neck all the way to the tip of her tail. Her normally warm and mellow green eyes hardened. Her displeasure with the fellow molly was well known by her current physical state and the older warrior glanced at Shatteredmoon, curious as to how the young tom would react. Though truth be told she was going to have words with Lizardeye regardless of what Shatteredmoon did or said.

Whisperthistle watched as Shatteredmoon had a similar gut reaction to her own, his fur bristling and even a low growl emitted from the tom. Though he had far more patience with the molly than herself and opted to just ignore her. Which is when Whisperthistle rounded on the molly, her lips pulled back in a nasty snarl. She knew damn well that being older and more experienced than Lizardeye gave her an edge. It was a power move that she had grown to enjoy using. Even if they were all warriors the older ones held more influence- it's just how things were.

Now though as Whisperthistle stood just slightly above Lizardeye she glowered down at the molly, "Listen here, kit, it doesn't take a genius to figure out that Lagoonstar is dead. He was the leader of the clan, after the disaster it would have been his first priority to find the clan and no cat knows this territory better than he did. He would have found us before long and he hasnt." Her words were scathing and the usually mute molly's tone was one that could shivers down to the bone. "I don't know if you are naturally just that daft or if you took a few hits too many during the storm but you need to know your place and know it well. You are no one to be challenging anyone like that. If you have thorns in your pelt then fine but I expect you to behave or go back to the temporary camp where hopefully you can behave instead of acting like a kit who got told no for the first time." Her words were finished with a low guttural growl that made her sound more feral than a rabid coyote, "The clan needs cats like Shatteredmoon and Bramblenose who take initiative to get things moving again. Everyone is grieving losses and your snotty attitude isn't helping anyone- you're more trouble than you're worth right now Lizardeye and even starclan agrees with that." With her last remark said she turned around, dismissing Lizardeye, you could feel the rage rolling off her pelt in waves as she walked alongside Shatteredmoon, as she did so she flicked her ears in an apologetic manner towards the tom- but she didn't regret her words for a moment.

With her words said she focused now on getting towards the small group of trees, pulling her head up at the caws and screeching of vultures she grimaced. Her gaze flitting to Shatteredmoon as the tom noticed too. The tom jerked his tail, ushering the group forward and Whisperthistle unsheathed her claws, digging them into the soft soil to help grip the soil as she broke into a run. She could feel apprehension prick along her spine. She wasn't sure what to hope for, something living or something dead. Either way she wouldn't be the first to see it, while she was a particularly large and strong molly she certainly wasn't the fastest and she was already losing pace with the others. Which in truth wasn't a bad thing, she was likely wanted for this patrol because she could carry more building materials- or if need be a wounded clanmate could be draped across her shoulders for a trip back.

    ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
The mouse was there one second and gone the next. Nothing but a few mouthfuls to sate their hunger she was still grateful for the partial meal and she opted to simply groom her pelt further. While she plucked at clumps of mud that found their way between her toes she flicked her ears back, overhearing the heated quarrels between Foxpond and Bramblenose she gave a soft sigh which was followed by a small shake of her head. Foxpond wasn't doing himself any favors, if she could chose in this moment he would be the least fit to assume the role of leader for the clan- given his behavior in the wake of a clan wide crisis. Though she felt it best to keep her opinions to herself. There was great wave of loss that hung on the shoulders of everyone in the clan. Nerves were frayed and patience would be in short supply until a proper deathtoll was announced and ample time was given for grieving hearts to recover.

What Badgertail hadn't expected was for her apprentice to crack under the pressure and before she could spot him Thistlepaw was stomping through the grass, his tail lashing to and fro like a snake. This wouldn't be pretty, that much she was sure of. Within moments Badgertail stood and edged in behind her apprentice, not enough to interrupt but enough to let her presence be known and the molly's steely gaze fixated on Foxpond. She knew there was little, if anything, she could do to stop her apprentice so instead she opted to support the young tom. As much as supporting your superiors was part of a warrior putting them back in their places was part of being a warrior too. Leaders and Deputies are nothing if they don't have the support of their peers. So instead of stepping in to usher her apprentice away she watched, her very posture screaming for Foxpond to even try something towards her apprentice. She would be all over the tom in an instant, badger wasn't part of her name for nothing afterall.

Thistlepaw's scathing words towards Foxpond even had Badgertail flinch but she felt her heart throb with pride for the young tom and she curled her tail, nudging his hip and stepping between them her gaze narrowed as she looked towards Foxpond, "You need to keep in mind Foxpond that deputies and leaders would be nothing without the warriors and apprentices behind them. If you don't tread carefully you're going to lose what little support you have left." Her words were heavy as she let just a portion of her thoughts be known- but more importantly she made it clear she didn't support his behaviour and with that she nudged Thistlepaw away leaning down to whisper in his ear, "That tom isn't worth your time Thistlepaw. You've said what needed to be said and it's best we move on now, I know Bramblenose wanted us to accompany him for a patrol. I suggest we go find him and give Foxpond a chance to collect his thoughts." Her tone was gentle as she padded away from the temporary camp, following Bramblenose's scent was easy given how fresh it was.

With a safe distance away from Foxpond and the rest of the lingering clanmates she let out a throaty purr, "I'm proud of you Thistlepaw. Part of being a warrior is standing up to injustice like you just did, Foxpond is out of his mind if he thinks his behavior is appropriate." Her tone was gentle and oozed with pride in her apprentice. The distant sound of rushing water caught her attention and she perked her ears, picking up her pace just the slightest bit to be greeted by Bramblenose securing a fish next to him. She greeted the tom with a simple 'mrrrow' before she approached, pausing for a few moments before she spied a rock to which she jumped up and perched herself on top of. Her gaze flicked over to the tom and she curled her tail, "Everything alright Bramblenose?" Her tone was knowing and inquisitive as she turned to face the river, crouched on the rock as she watched the water intently for any silvery bodies that would likely be occupying it.

the tom was focused on the murky water, his thoughts cleared and his general appearance still calm and unruffled. bramblenose was not one to seek out conflict but it seemed he created some unintentionally. while it would have bothered a younger warrior with less experience, the tom was unphased and simply concluded that foxpond's behavior was due to the stress and possible head injury due to the storm. of course, the bengal had left before the new deputy was able to speak further, but he knew that the tom had probably gone on a tangent anyway even without the warrior being there himself. at this rate, bamblenose doubted anyone would take the deputy serious with his tantrum that reminded him more a kit than that of a cat that would be a future leader.

the wind carried the scent of two of his clanmates and he turned his head, green gaze searching the wind laid grass for movement. it didn't take him long to recognize the two figures that appeared before him. hearing badgertail's vocal greeting, he watched her as she perched herself on a drying rock. he knew words would come soon but he turned his attention to thistlepaw for a moment and gave the young tom a dip of his head in greeting. it was then that the molly's voice reached his ears and the bengal turned his gaze back to her, her tone indicated to him that she was questioning earlier most likely.

"i'm pretty fine despite the earlier outbursts from that kit." he said in response to her before he resumed his hunt for fish, he would only be able to carry maybe three at most depending on size. so he didn't need to overdo it. "how are you coping with all this badgertail?" he questioned the other warrior moments later before briefly looking towards thistleplaw. "and you?" he added seconds later before returning his focus. in the water there was another flicker of a shadow, causing the tom to move forward in one fluid movement, striking the water and pulling the fish out. this time bramblenose was not as successful, his aim was slightly off as he went to fling it on the bank. instead of landing there, it landed closer to the water and flopped its way back with a loud splash. the warrior only shook his head at his mistake, not at all frustrated over the matter, he had enough patience and time right now to continue.

it seemed that the elderly tom was surprised at her state though she was unsure why then again he wasn't a medicine cat. when he questioned her regarding her ability to travel, she scowled. while she may be utterly sick to her stomach and slightly in shock, there was nothing that prevented her physically from where the rest of the clan lingered. she was sure that he was only being concerned so she didn't say anything about it at first. though of course she just moved forward and past the elder, though she was unsure of the direction that she needed to go so the apprentice would either be lucky that she was going in the right direction or corrected like a barely made apprentice which she obviously was.

gullpaw kept her eyes open but she did make sure that she was not heading in the direction she had came from, as that would only lead her to the scene that had her in this state. the apprentice shuttered just at the thought. she needed to stop thinking about it and keep moving, the last thing she needed was to continue to dry heave. that would only upset her stomach and leave her miserable the rest of the day. plus, she hadn't eaten since who knows when so her stomach was not exactly her friend currently. she was glad that she hadn't eaten earlier in the morning though if she had caught anything that is. the spotted feline continued moving, glancing back shortly as she hoped seedwhisker was following.

after a minute or two, she did notice a figure far in the distance, only because the grass seemed more soaked and water lodged in that area than the rest. she could something, maybe it was another cat? gullpaw honestly didn't know for sure but she looked back to the elder, wondering what he thougth of the situation even though she was indirectly giving him the silent treatment but it wasn't completely intentional.

the tunnels were rather easy to follow for him, as the ground was soft and now pretty easy to see where it was disturbed for the most part. he continued to track them until the scent of mole finally reached his nose. he grinned, satisfied that his attempt to find food was somewhat growing successful. when the scent was rather strong, he looked around but saw nothing. letting his head lower to the ground, he strained to hear anything underground but heard nothing. grumbling, he began to dig frantically and spotted the weird looking animal. he struggled to grab it as it scrambled away but a claw managed to snag it. with something to eat now, his mood was rather lightened by it.

the sound of a voice made the tom jump and it could be seen as rather comical. when his hot glare turned towards the source, he noticed that it was a cat, though he couldn't tell if it was that of a clan, she held only her scent for now so he was unsure. it wasn't until she approached and open her mouth further that he concluded she was that of a clan cat. looking down at his mole, he pushed it behind him and sat down in front of it, not willing to share anything just yet, should he be asked. only if there was something to gain here would he share his small piece of prey.

bandit waited until she finished and she seemed rather hoping he would know the whereabouts of the clan cats but he honestly didn't. he could lie to her but he felt no need to get this cat even more lost than she already was. "urh. nope, i haven't seen any cats round her. i mean, their scent is being carried by the wind occasionally, last i smelt them was that way." he said, pointing with his paw. she would probably be leaving him be after this statement anyway but he was at least telling that of the truth.

    [ tom ] [ eleven moons ] [ apprentice ] [ mentor: bramblenose ] [ mentions: none ] [ tagged: bramblenose, badgertail, thistlepaw ]

water had pooled together where the land sloped down into shallow dips, leaving the grass bent and broken. riverpaw did his best to avoid the cavities in the land, but it was incredibly difficult to navigate when your skull felt like it had been bashed against a rock. the tabby was not in good shape; his fur, which had once been a gorgeous silver-gray, was now coated in a thick layer of mud, making him barely recognizable. his amber globes were dull and lifeless, but worked well to hide the pain he felt throughout his aching bones.

the tom stumbled through the tall grass, too exhausted to keep his presence unknown. riverpaw had no recollection of where his clan was, in all honesty, he was unsure if they had survived or not. but he was aware of one thing: he desperately needed shelter, perhaps some food in his empty stomach as well. the flood had cleared the grassland of most creatures, leaving prey scarce. riverpaw had attempted to hunt multiple times, but with no success, he just couldn't function properly in the state he was in.

the apprentice had been swept away when the flood had begun, and had been carried northeast. he wasn't exactly sure how far he had been taken, although riverpaw was certain it was further from camp than anything he knew of. but half of that distance had been him wandering in the wrong direction, which he had later corrected when the sun had risen in the east the next morning. his mother, sparrowhop, had been swept in the same direction as riverpaw had, but had drowned after her left thigh had been caught on a branch.the tabby had paid his respects, mourning over his mother's lifeless body for many heartbeats before leaving her beneath a bush. he had hated to leave her in such an exposed area, but riverpaw had neither the time nor strength to dig her a grave.

his tail was now being dragged in the mud as he trudged down a riverbank, recognizing it immediately as one of the rivers located within slateclan's territory. he lowered his head, maw opening slightly in order to lap up some of the water. the liquid tasted like dirt, but was cold and felt wonderful as it slid down riverpaw's throat. he took many more gulps before lifting his head, taking a moment to breath in. he caught whiffs of rotting foliage, most likely coming from the small clumping of trees on the other side of the bank. the earthy smell of mud was also present, and did a very good job at masking the scent of something riverpaw had almost missed: cats.

riverpaw felt his heart skip a beat as he caught the scent, allowing it to run over the roof of his mouth. it was definitely cats, and by the way he was easily able to separate each scent individually told him these were cats he knew. the aroma was coming from upstream, and with adrenaline now surging through his veins, riverpaw sprinted up the bank, ignoring his aching muscles. the river turned sharply up ahead, and as soon as the tom rounded the corner, his eyes lit up. bramblenose's familiar pelt was the first thing he noticed, and riverpaw ran ahead, making sure he could be seen. "bramblenose?" he called, his voice hoarse.

Yarrowstare/Warrior/30 Moons/Tags: Bramblenose, Badgertail, Thistlepaw, Riverpaw

The yellow-eyed molly was beginning to realize that the black and white spotted two-leg rabbit she carried weighed more than it made out to be. Her jaw ached in effort to keep a hold on the fresh-kill and, for the first time in a while, she desperately wanted to find her fellow clanmates in order to finally be able to set down her newest catch. Walking over yet another small hill, the she-cat nearly collapsed in relief as she saw Bramblenose, Badgertail, and Thistlepaw all down by a stream at the bottom of the hill. The silver tabby quickly bounded down the hill before regaining her composure and sauntering up to the three cats. Yarrowstare slowly bent her head and gently set the rabbit at her feet, despite her itching desire to give her jaw a rest, and slowly lifted her head to the rest of the patrol and holding it high. Waiting for a break in conversation, the she-cat cleared her throat and began to speak, "I caught this rabbit a little ways back from where I came. It seems to be a two-leg rabbit which escaped after the storm. Since it was such a plump catch, I couldn't bring myself to bury and leave it with chance of it getting stolen. The clan needs as much food as they can get.". The arrogant she-cat was lying through her teeth as she truly just wanted to show off her catch. She didn't care for helping the suffering of her clanmates at all. She knew the three cats in front of her might pick up on this, but they couldn't accuse her of anything as they had no real proof. Sitting down and elegantly wrapping her tail around her paws, the she-cat waited for reply's from her "audience" before hearing a hoarse voice call Bramblenose's name in the distance. Turning her head in the direction of the noise, the she-cats yellow eyes widened in shock as she saw the muddy body of an apprentice hobble up to the patrol. Not knowing what to do, the silver molly simply just stared at the apprentice waiting for some other cat to take action.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Seedwhisker/Elder/144 Moons/Tags: Gullpaw, Brackenfoot, Dusty

Seedwhisker twitched his whiskers irritably at the scowl sent his way by Gullpaw after he asked if she was fit to travel. I only wanted to make sure you were ok, he thought while flicking his ears in annoyance. The elder knew though that whatever Gullpaw saw, it must have been scarring. With silent hesitation, the elder got up and followed Gullpaw across the territory as the she-cat made it clear she wanted to get as far away from where they were as possible. An eerie silence fell between the two cats and the grey tabby tom couldn't help but feel a little bit awkward. The apprentice occasionally looked back to make sure he was still following her and he gave her a solemn nod to let her know he was right behind her. His muscles aching, the older tom let his head hang low as he walked, watching each paw travel in front of the other. It wasn't until the tom almost ran into Gullpaw that he realized the molly had stopped. The apprentice had her ears pricked and was looking into the distance. Following her gaze, the tom almost gasped as he noticed the shape of a cat in the distance. Nodding to Gullpaw after receiving a look, he bounded after the apprentice until he could make out the outline of his clanmate, Brackenfoot. Seedwhisker knew every clanmate just by their body shape and pelt color, and he was sure the cat ahead was Brackenfoot. As the elder arrived at the location of the clans queen, he was about to ask if she was alright before noticing a kit nursing at her belly. Letting out a small gasp, he realized the kit was not her own. The kits legs were disproportionately short compared to the rest of its body and it was small enough to look like a new-born kit, even though it must be around a couple weeks old by now. Shaking his head, the elder silently scolded himself for judging the kit as he had no right to. His self-scolding was soon replaced by sympathy though as he remembered that the queens kits were lost in the storm, one being found dead. It is good Brackenfoot found a kit, the elder thought to himself, even if it isn't of her blood-kin, it will help her cope. Looking at the little kit, the elder couldn't help but let out a purr while smiling joyfully at the little bundle. "Who is this?" the elder asked Brackenfoot wistfully. At that moment, the tom remembered Gullpaw was alongside him and he looked over to see what the apprentice thought of the situation.

HORUS β˜₯-
( 42 Moons ) ( Loner ) ( Molly ) ( No crush/mate ) ( Tags: Wolfheart ) ( Mentions: None )

Horus walked along with her brother before a stranger appeared in their view. Horus’s ears flattened and her eye narrowed, she just about let out a hiss before Lonesome laid his tail on her shoulder. Lonesome gave a respectful nod, β€œWe are it seems, though I have a feeling we aren’t anywhere close to home yet.” He sighed. Horus straightened and blinked at the stranger, β€œYou one of those clan cats?” She asked. This cat was older, and seemed weak, which heightened Horus’s curiousity, β€œWell you certainly don’t look scary for one that eats other cats bones.” She snorted to herself. Lonesome shot her a glare before turning to the clan cat, β€œYou look worse for wear yourself, are you alright?” He asked, genuine concern filled his voice and Horus’s ears grew hot, she didn’t mean to poke fun at others who were suffering as well.

Feathersong felt her spirits rise and her eyes brightened a little, β€œReally?” She said, her voice becoming bright and hopeful as she looked at the Tom in wonder. Feathersong flicked her tail with excitement, the Molly padded forward as if she was going to give him an affectionate and thankful lick on the forehead, but stopped herself when she remembered that not everyone wanted to be her friend to her dismay, and some didn’t want her over the top affection. The thought that this was also a strange cat who just pointed in a direction, but he was the first real sign of hope she had had in who knows how long. Feathersong flicked her ear and looked at him with an apologetic look, β€œMy names Feathersong by the way!” She said, her warm demeanor almost lightened the air around her as she beamed at the young Tom, β€œI’d hope I can repay you for your kindness somehow, after all, everyone’s probably suffering in this kind of weather! It just wouldn’t be right of me to not lend you a hand, that’s just not the proper way to be a warrior-” She had began to ramble before she caught herself, her eyes widening and her ears dropping. Feathersong was probably talking the poor toms ears off. Feathersong sighed but replaced it with a smile, β€œI’m sorry, I’m rambling, you are?” She joked softly.

Whisperthistle's gaze held on Lizardeye unnervingly, daring the she-cat to spat another word of her nonsense she watched her seem to scramble for a reply before she turned tail and fled. With that the obsidian molly gave a snort, shaking out her pelt to allow it to lay flat against her frame once more she caught up to Shatteredmoon letting out a caterwaul after the tom's cry the hefty she-cat launched herself up in the air, snatching one of the vultures down by its leg a growl emitted from the feline as she thrashed her head to the side effectively smacking the vulture to the ground. Perhaps it was the stress of the past days but Whisperthistle let the large bird have it. Every ounce of anger, anguish, stress, everything that she kept cooped up poured out as she pounced on the vulture. Using her hind paws she churned her paws into the bird's underbelly before a muffle cry broke her muzzle as it pecked at her shoulder. Her face wrinkled into one of a snarl and she surged forward, grabbing the ugly bird by the neck, she clamped down until it went limp under her.

For several moments the obsidian molly stood over the vulture, her pupils reduced to nothing but slits the width of a hair. She could feel the slow ooze of blood from her shoulder and a new aching pain on her sides from the bird's wings beating on her sides but she was transfixed on the bird simply staring at it before another vulture's cry to her said snapped her out of her trance. The molly whipped around her gaze fleeting to Shatteredmoon who fended off one of them before he turned his attention back to the creature they were after. Whisperthistle ran at one of the lingering vulture who was streaking to sneakily hop towards Shatteredmoon, probably to try and get a sneaky shot in on the tom. That wasn't going to happen. She struck out at the remaining vulture with a volatile hiss. The bird flapped it's wings, letting out another cry before it too it's interest in whatever it was harassing diminished by having to fight for it.

A snort left the molly's muzzle as she turned her gaze settled on the feline her ears perking with interest as Shatteredmoon spoke her name. For a brief moment Whiserthistle was confused until the battered cat told them to leave her there, that she was useless. Her eyes narrowed gently before she turned around- opting that Shatteredmoon could probably handle the crestfallen feline with more tact. Whisperthistle was still riding the high of adrenaline. Instead she opted to sit down watching their surroundings quietly. The vultures circling above just seconds ago would've lured in more scavengers.

Saberstorm sat atop a rock that had barely just began to dry out. The thick-furred tom scowled at the water logged ground around him. One thing Saberstorm detested more than anything was mud and getting his fur wet. Now you might think he is being a wussy but have you ever tried to dry out fur as long and thick as his? Doubtful. Regardless of his broody mood the tom looked up as badgertail's apprentice ripped their deputy a new one and the tom couldn't help the soft smirk that appeared on his muzzle. Thistlepaw effectively left the deputy speechless before he too left the camp, ears flattened and head ducked. Good riddance. He thought silently, perhaps being told off by an apprentice would effectively make foxpond think over his actions. Probably not- but you could dream right?

Peonypelt hadn't expected the vultures to come back for a second round. Surely they would've been uninterested in something that was alive and fighting- even if she wasn't able to land a single blow. A mangled cry escaped her muzzle as once more she was roused up on shaky legs, only for the mud to efficiently pull her back down. She expected more sharp beaks digging into her pelt but instead of deafening crys from the vultures she heard a battle cry. Her unseeing eyes stared widely into the chaos that played out before her. She could hear the beaks of wings and feathers being ripped out of flesh but she remained crouched in the mud, knowing full well she would be of no help if she couldn't even see the enemy she was fighting.

A gust of wind blew over her pelt as it seemed several of the birds flew away, the thrashing stopped, the fighting stopped. A voice reached her ears, a simple question in essence but in no way, shape, or form was she okay. She was blind. When she looked around her all she could see was black. Like a void had opened up and eating her world whole. Everything was stripped from her overnight, her ability to fight, to hunt, to even defend herself. Was she even recognizable anymore? Still even with her mind cluttered in negative thoughts she nodded her ears flicked as she heard other paws around her. One thing she hadn't expected was for her name to be spoken, her sightless eyes peered up at Shatteredmoon. She looked almost doe-like, her eyes wide as she stared up at the tom.

With a soft snort Peonypelt forced herself upright and stood still for a few moments to take in the scents around her. The strongest one belonging the tom infront of her "S-Shatteredmoon, is that you?" She took a shaky step forward and nosed the tom's shoulder and nodded to herself quietly. He was indeed Shatteredmoon. She shrank back now and away from the tom in security in her new state of being clouding her thoughts, "Leave me here. I'm useless to the clan now, starclan made sure of that." The words oozed of bitterness towards their ancestors and the once proud warrior was reduced to a shell of who she used to be. Though she couldn't help but ask of her beloved clan, her ears flicking softly, "How is everyone..Lagoonstar? Cloudsniffle?" Her voice cracked at both of the names, she had a twisted gut feeling of what happened to the two toms. Surely they knew what became of their leader and medicine cat already if patrols were being sent out.

Did Thistlepaw expect her to reprimand him for his outburst? Surely not. She had never been the type of mentor to do such things, nevertheless wouldn't start now. Perhaps Foxpond needed a proper telling off by an apprentice to come around. She turned to Bramblenose as he replied and gave a soft snort, "Mmm yes we heard, even Thistlepaw couldn't hand any more of his tantrums. He went on and on even after you left. I'm questioning if perhaps he was struck too hard in the head during the storm." She snorted with distaste for their deputy before she removed herself from the rock. If she was down here she could make herself useful catching fish rather than perching up and away from the mud.

Initially she wasn't expecting his following question and her ears flicked back in uncertainty. Badgertail had made it out of the storm with superb luck. She didn't have a mate or kits prior to the storm she risked losing, her kin and parents already safe and warm in starclan. The biggest personal loss would've been her apprentice and he was atleast alive. "I'm counting my blessings from starclan and doing my best to help rebuild what was lost. I'm finding that i was an outlier in the way of losses, I still have my apprentice and much of the clan." Her tone was warm in reply and her tail curled. The words were delicately strung and she padded to Thistlepaw, giving the tom a soft lick on his shoulder before moving past him and to the river's edge. She felt guilt prickle along her pelt, not that she did anything wrong but she felt like she had. All of her thoughts shattered in a matter of seconds as a silvery body came into her vision. She struck out at the water, hooking her paw upwards and towards the bank. A large silver fish thudded unto shore and within moment she finished it off and shook her head, getting slapped with a slimy tail was never pleasant.

Another voice broke their small trio and Badgertail looked up seeing none other than Yarrowstare looking around with a plump rabbit in her jaws. She forced herself not to roll her eyes at the molly, she could see right through her little mask of care and it made her stomach twist with disgust. Still a smug smile appeared on her muzzle as she sat down, "Mm yes. I'm sure as fat and naive as the rabbit was it probably didn't even know what was going on. I'm sure even a newly made apprentice could catch something like that. Two-leg rabbits have no fear, the know nothing. Since you've only hunted a rabbit why dont you catch some fish too- like you said the clan needs food and the swollen river seems generous today." Her tone screamed innocence but she was being more passive-aggressive than anything which was unlike her. Perhaps it truly was the stress of everything that fractured her usually optimist nature but one thing she couldn't stand were airheads like yarrowstare looking for validation when everyone is doing their part.

The sudden rustle of leaves and grass snatched her attention away from Yarrowstar and her gaze settled on the form of the apprentice who croaked out Bramblenose's name. "Riverpaw?" Badgertail asked his name quietly, his pelt too muddied to even tell she ignored the fish that laid limp on the grasses and trotted over to the frail apprentice feverishly lapping at his coat to free it of the mud. Her gaze flicked between the three other cats curiously, her tail curling to her side as she pausing her grooming to spat out the soil and grit.

the tom listened to the two speak in response to his question. "don't we all thistlepaw." he said in response to the apprentice's words. as badgertail spoke of the clan and rebuilding, he nodded, though he did not speak of the deputy's tantrums any further because he felt like it wasn't needed to be dwelled on. instead he returned to his fishing though he heard movement again and turned his attention behind him to spot yarrowstare with an oddly colored rabbit. though the clan had never come across two-legs themselves, he knew that they would keep animals as pets and not use them for food as they themselves did. this rabbit seemed far too plump and different in coloring to have lived in the wild and he simply judged it up to the storm displacing much like yarrowstare said. "probably an easy catch for you but good job, it'll help feed someone." he said and then listened as badgertail spoke up to her catch, indicating that the other warrior should help this fish now since she was here. "yeah, extra paws to fish shouldn't be too difficult, we're all pretty seasoned with fishing." the tom added after the warriors words.

his ears flicked for a moment as he heard his name from his left, unsure of who was calling him at first until his green gaze saw the muddied form of his apprentice. his task was completely forgotten as he pushed himself up to his paws and literally ran to the young tom. his familiar scent was almost masked by all the mud that clustered in clumps on his pelt. the warrior was slightly worried and noticed that badgertail had already begun to work through the mud and grit on riverpaw's pelt. the bengal began to word on riverpaw's other side, attempting to clean his pelt as best as possible and check the tom over for any wounds covered by the debris that clung to his fur.

it seemed that yarrowstare was literally just staring, just like her namesake and seemed unsure of what to do in such a situation. it was true they didn't have a medicine cat but so far his apprentice didn't seem to have any wounds that would cause concern or later become infected. the tom had searched for two days for his apprentice before he had found the others and settled in the temperory camp, almost losing hope that he would have never found him again. it was a relief to bramblenose that riverpaw was here alive rather than that of dead or having never been found. this was a better outcome than what his mind had originally thought. his scent did not carry the smell of any others which meant that he had been alone for quite some time.

when the warrior was satisfied with his apprentice's pelt, he jogged over to the fish that he had caught earlier and grabbed it between his jaws. bramblenose trotted back over to riverpaw and set it down at his paws. "you need to eat something riverpaw, this should also help with your thirst a little too." fish was a generally moist prey and thus, helped not only feed but also hydrate when needed. the tom gave the apprentice's forehead a lick in comfort and now with mostly everything taken care of, he addressed the situation further. "you must be exhausted. eat some of this and then you can rest a little before i take you back to the camp to settle in for some well-needed rest. for now, i just want you to relax and regain a little of your bearing as best as you can." bramblenose explained to the apprentice softly, his gaze worried and holding more concern than that of a mentor should in this case but who could blame him, a lot had happened and everyone needed someone to lean on for support at some point. no one could just healthy survive relying only on themselves in disasters such as these, they would slip up at some point and it would be a larger breakdown than just relying on others for moral support and just to share the burden.

it seemed that the elderly tom was surprised at her state though she was unsure why then again he wasn't a medicine cat. when he questioned her regarding her ability to travel, she scowled. while she may be utterly sick to her stomach and slightly in shock, there was nothing that prevented her physically from where the rest of the clan lingered. she was sure that he was only being concerned so she didn't say anything about it at first. though of course she just moved forward and past the elder, though she was unsure of the direction that she needed to go so the apprentice would either be lucky that she was going in the right direction or corrected like a barely made apprentice which she obviously was.

gullpaw kept her eyes open but she did make sure that she was not heading in the direction she had came from, as that would only lead her to the scene that had her in this state. the apprentice shuttered just at the thought. she needed to stop thinking about it and keep moving, the last thing she needed was to continue to dry heave. that would only upset her stomach and leave her miserable the rest of the day. plus, she hadn't eaten since who knows when so her stomach was not exactly her friend currently. she was glad that she hadn't eaten earlier in the morning though if she had caught anything that is. the spotted feline continued moving, glancing back shortly as she hoped seedwhisker was following.

after a minute or two, she did notice a figure far in the distance, only because the grass seemed more soaked and water lodged in that area than the rest. she could something, maybe it was another cat? gullpaw honestly didn't know for sure but she looked back to the elder, wondering what he thougth of the situation even though she was indirectly giving him the silent treatment but it wasn't completely intentional.

it seemed that his words relieved the molly though he didn't understand why. hope was a dangerous thing in some situations this one included he could guess. when she moved towards him even more, he tensed but it seemed she caught on to what she was doing and stopped herself. his body relaxed in relief, bandit wasn't one to do any sort of affections, especially towards a total stranger so it was rather odd that she had almost done something that would have made him feel extremely awkward and like a kit. she seemed apologetic over the matter and he didn't blame her for now.

the tom's stomach growled, though not loud enough for his current company to hear. bandit was reminded of the prey that was hidden behind him, its smell masked by the dirt he had covered it with. it would be nice if he could enjoy his meal but he supposed the clan cat would be leaving at some point, he had nothing else for her after all. the loner was not expecting her to start rambling and he was a bit taken aback but the words. he noticed her behavior change as if she knew she was starting to say a little too much at once. realizing she had given her name and he had yet to give his, she also noticed this.

"i'm bandit. you don't have to help me, nor are you required to. i'm just telling you what i know since you asked." the tom explained to her. the younger feline wasn't exactly growing fond of all the time he was wasting when he could be eating and trying to find more food for himself. "well, you should probably get going before their scents are completly gone and you're lost again feathersong." he added moments later. bandit did have a point in the matter. if she stalled here any longer with him, it grew less and less likely that she would find her clan mates. he himself was unsure if they had been on the move or not but if they were they would just be getting further away from her at this rate.
