I’m so sorry, loosing a pet is always hard. I know he lived the best happy life he possibly could live with you guys. I hope you, O, and Kes are doing well and can find peace in that.

ghiblis wrote:anyone know any dog chews that can last a while for a dog with a decent jaw? my issue is hes a strong ratter cross and so he basically swallows all the chews i give him. there was this brand that i csnt remember and they sold small dog chews and large dog chews. i got him the labrador one and he chewed it up in a minute and a half. i licw in the uk so ideally sourced herw. only edible chews

I have the same problem! The longest lasting chews that I’ve found are :
-nylabones(my dogs fave shape is thisImage)
Antler chews Image
And buffalo horns(make sure they do not have a hole in the bottom else they will not last.

Hope this helps have a great day!!

thanks Stormstory for the recommendation. i've decided on some kind of antler as i've found him to not enjoy most hard "flavoured" toys.

@middy // deepest condolences in regards to your dog. im sure they lived a great and plentiful life before you put them down.

atlas (1 yr) loves chewing leather so we had to remove pippin's (7 yr) collar and hates wearing his own (because we didn't really enforce it early on). regardless, that collar is now too small so were looking at buying them some other collars. i think we want non-chewable collars rather than getting another leather one. any recommendations?

The only really non-chewable I can think of is chain but I wouldn't recommend it as it could damage teeth or even get stuck on a tooth. You might just have to try different materials until you find something less appealing. Have you tried putting some bitter apple/cherry spray on the collar to deter him? Also you can work on training and redirecting him to chew something else. I doubt any type of collar will stop chewing on it's own if it's become a habit for him.

Lupine https://www.lupinepet.com/ has a lifetime guarantee. They are not chew proof but if your dog destroys it they will replace it for free.

I'm a fan of Safe Dog ID collars http://www.safedogid.com/ They're not chew proof but the neoprene might be less appealing to chew, at least it won't have the same smell as leather.

And speaking of smell if that's the main draw it might be worth trying a collar made out of BioThane.

Also found the following through a search, not sure how well they really work but at least it gives you some more options...

I'm so happy!! It's been a long, long, road, but Gizzy's finally loosing the rusty fur! We figured out she's allergic to wheat, so she's been off wheat for a while, and her skin is less red, and she's got white hair growing in again!! :')
