The year 2022, scientists have studied chemicals and various viruses throughout history. One day a scientist out of his own curiosity made a unique virus and tested it on animals but nothing happened. Out of frustration he asked someone to volunteer for him to study the virus but he did not tell anyone that what he was testing was a virus. Many days past and the virus had taken hold of its victim and the victim craved human flesh. The scientist had realized what he had one and did his best to contain this new asset but as months past it grew stronger and stronger until it broke out of its cage and thus bite everyone in the lab and the virus spread. Soon cities fell as the virus could not be eliminated and thus came the apocalypse. Welcome to Lingering Death.

Casey is a quiet person yet her arrogance and stubbornness gets the best of her sometimes if she is in a grumpy mood. Her intimidating look is often mistaken but Casey doesn't seem to care much of how she looks but rather of what comes out of her mouth. Casey will only show loyalty to those who deserve or win her trust. She prefers to be on her own the majority of the time but Casey always has to remind herself that being with other people increases her survival rate. Being the leader of her group, Casey will always make sure things are stocked up for her people and is always finding a safe place for her group to call home. Most of the time she will silently judge everyone she dislikes but she tries being civil with that person. Casey has the knack for being sarcastic with everyone, good and bad situations. You will probably catch her with a tear or two running down her face every once in a while. Casey's mental state isn't very well since the death over her beloved and she thinks she has herself convinced that she could never love again. Ever since the world went downhill, Casey has a harder time trusting and believing what people tell her.

Casey had just gotten herself enrolled into college. She had a steady job so far in her life and most of all she was engaged to her lover. It was when Casey was on her way home from work when the outbreak occurred and everything went downhill from there. Rushing home she came to see her fiance already dead and alive at the same time. It wasn't until it struck her that he was now in fact a living zombie which was coming closer and closer towards her. Casey had rushed to the kitchen grabbing a knife to defend herself from her undead lover. Tears flowed down her cheeks as she took a swing at the head but when nothing really happened this sent Casey into a panic until she stabbed her fiance in the heart which did the trick. Casey sat beside her now deceased lover sobbing and said her goodbyes. Casey took her fiance's ring and placed in on a chain along her own ring and now wears the rings around her neck at all times. Two years after the outbreak, Casey has now formed a group called the phoenixes. She is particularly good with a bow, she learned from her deceased fiance since he spent most of his time out in the woods hunting wild game. Picking up many wilderness skills from her dead lover. Over time she had her faithful companion Artimes. Later on she came across Mercury.

Akito's used to traveling alone, so he's pretty much lost all real people skills; coming off as a jerk or standoffish, but he's got a good heart. He wants to do the honorable thing and to do what's right regardless of what consequence it brings and he'd never hesitate to stand between someone and danger. That doesn't mean he's the typical "Mr. Hero" type at all though, no no. He's also got a few really dark parts to him. He loves combat, as much as he'd deny it, he loves the thrill of battle. The adrenaline rush that it gives, the struggle of two souls fighting desperately for their lives. It excites him...but that scares him senseless too. He's terrified of losing himself in a fight which often leaves openings in his defenses. He's a generally guarded person, not wanting to get too close to anyone simply because he's not used to anyone else. He can be a bit dense when it comes to reading subtle clues or 'hints' but he can read people quite easily and he honestly doesn't judge anyone for who they are or what they like. It's none of his business afterall.
