as a kit, adderstrike (formerly adder [he was never given a name by his
twolegs]) was abandoned by his owners and left to fend for himself in
the forest where he taught himself how to hunt and defend himself
against curious rats and even cats on occasion. adder was proud of his
newly learned skills and confident that nothing could defeat him until a
dog roared into his temporary den. the dog was too big to fight so he
ran only to discover that it was too fast to escape. adder was soon chased
off of a small cliff, hitting sharp rocks as he fell. adder eventually
recovered,still baring scars. when the clan entered the forest, 20 moons
after, adder sawjoining the group as an advantage and talked his way into
the clan, throwingcompliments and advertising himself as a perfect warrior
to join their clan.

fernpaw (formerly fern) ventured out into the forest away from her twolegs when she was visited by ghostly cats in a dream. they told her to find swiftstar and next, softbreeze. for whatever reason, fern chose to obey these spirits and she found swiftstar, a 'clan cat' living in the forest, much like the cats in her dream had stated. when they arrived at the camp, they found a fern frond in front of the medicine den. there were no ferns growing nearby so how was this to be? softbreeze hurriedly took fern in as her apprentice.
