brynn connolly

【Brynn Connolly】
    nicknames: none
    age: 17 years old
    gender: female
    height: 5'8"
    orientation: bisexual (closeted)
    sport: hunter/jumper
    horse: Tide
Brynn Maddison Connolly was born in northern Alabama to her parents Michael and Katherine, the third
of four children. The wealthy Connolly family owned a grand quarter horse ranch, so Brynn, her two
older sisters, and her younger brother knew how to ride from an early age; each sibling, however, had
their own impression of the horse business. Her brother's experiences with cutting made him decide
that he preferred the company of cattle to that of horses; her eldest sister ultimately decided the
ranch life wasn't for her at all and quit riding at age fourteen; her middle sister is still a decorated
barrel racer and pole bender, though she has now taken up reining as her primary discipline. Brynn
herself was gifted her first horse, a fairly young quarter mare named Faith, at age 10 from her
parents; she followed in her middle sister's footsteps for several years, participating in several rodeo

events. Eventually, however, she discovered hunter/jumpers and was immediately enamored with the adrenaline rush of jumping. Her parents begrudgingly hired a trainer to teach Faith to jump; very quickly, however, Brynn began to prove her talent in the English saddle as she and her beloved mare began to climb the AQHA and 4-H hunter/jumper ranks. Eventually, local trainers began to take notice; she joined a local hunter barn at age 14 and showed a number of her trainer's nice horses - alongside the ever-trusty Faith, of course.
Brynn's parents purchased a second home in Kentucky to get away from the "stresses of the ranch life" after their second daughter graduated, and so Brynn spent the summer of her 15th year in the eastern US. Crestwood Estate's Mr. Campbell had been seeking some young riders to add to his show string, and he was very impressed with the show records Brynn's parents presented him with. He would take her on, he said, but he refused to allow her to show Faith with his team - she had to buy a nicer thoroughbred or warmblood. Brynn's father, who had been wanting to breed Faith due to her nice conformation, told Brynn he would not allow her to keep a horse she was not showing or regularly riding. After many lengthy arguments, Brynn reluctantly agreed to let Faith become a broodmare. Her parents bought Tide for her, and she showed him with Crestwood for two years before Mr. Campbell sold the estate.
-

Brynn may have traded in her cowboy boots for tall boots, but she never
quite lost the unique spirit of a rodeo queen. She's fun-loving and
adventurous and, when she's not in her riding gear, loves to dress as
though she's ready for a night on the town. She has a great sense of
humor and - when she wants to - a knack for making friends. She's an
incredibly hard worker on and off the horse and has a fiercely
competitive spark in anything and everything she does.
This all being said, Brynn's a Grade A troublemaker; several rules at
the Crestwood boarding school program are credited especially to her.
This is a point of pride for her, too; growing up in a family of four
kids, she had to get creative when it came to getting attention,
having fun, and outshining her siblings. More than that, however, her
competitive attitude coupled with Mr. Campbell's harshness has made
her very unsportsmanlike. While she'd never tamper with someone's
horse or otherwise play dirty, she's loath to lend a hand except to a
very close ally of hers and is often a great source of judgmental
commentary on other riders.
Truth be told, Brynn is very unhappy with where she's at in her riding.
She sorely misses Faith and, secretly, really doesn't like Tide much at
all, though she spends much of her time pampering him in an effort to
bond with him. Moreover, she is desperate to move to jumpers, though
Mr. Campbell never allowed her due to her failures in the hunter ring.
She was raised in a "never quit" family, but her show nerves often get
the best of her. Overall, she is very unsure of herself and who she is,
and since so many of her previous "friends" at Crestwood stabbed her
in the back, she isn't sure who is trustworthy and who isn't. Brynn can
actually be very self-deprecating, but this nature tends to add to her
constant drive to improve and hone her skills, especially on horseback.
Likes:
    - Brynn loves anything involving mud and gasoline; big trucks,
four-wheelers, dirt bikes, and whatever else she can get
    her hands on.
    - Brynn still greatly enjoys riding western whenever she
gets the chance, even if it's just for a trail ride.
    - As embarrassing as they are, sappy rom-coms still brighten
Brynn's world - one could say they're her guilty pleasure.
    - Brynn is extremely adventurous with food; trying a variety
of cuisines is extremely exciting to her.
    - Brynn enjoys watching a variety of sports; from rodeos to
polo matches, football games to hockey games, horse races
to baseball games, she can get excited for any team or
player - that is, unless there's a chance they might be
    competing against her.
    - Brynn does love to spoil a horse; she spends a lot of time
grooming and caring for Tide and making sure his stall is in
    absolutely perfect condition.
Dislikes:
    - Laziness seriously irritates Brynn; anyone who won't put in
the work to care for their own horse is automatically not
    worth her time.
    - Structure and Brynn do not get along; she prefers to do
    things on her time.
    - Brynn is not at all a fan of the constraints of the typical
hunter dress code, and is constantly trying to push
boundaries on what is and isn't acceptable.
Appearance:
    Eyes: Green
    Hair: Dirty blonde
Skin: Moderately tanned (most likely via spray)
Identifying marks: Birthmark on left shoulder, circular
scar on right thigh from barrel racing accident, long scar
on right shoulder from four-wheeler accident.
Clothing/Style: Country chic - jean shorts, fringe, neutral
colors. For riding, mostly denim breeches and a stylish
riding shirt. Likes large and noticeable earrings. Wears
makeup daily, even to the barn.

brynn's horse

Postby caf. » Fri Dec 28, 2018 1:08 pm

𝙕'𝙨 𝙃𝙞𝙜𝙝 𝙏𝙞𝙙𝙚
    Call Name: Tide
    Breed: Thoroughbred (off-the-track)
    Sex: Gelding
    Height: 16.1hh
    Coat Color: Bay
    Age: 13 years
    Discipline: Hunters
Tide had a successful racing career at the start of his life, being a promising
two-year-old and a high-earning three-year-old as he raced up and down the
east coast. During his four-year-old year he began to slow down, and he was
finally retired at age five. He could not stand at stud as he'd been gelded as
a youngster, since he was unfortunately born cryptorchid. As such, like
many other retired racehorses, he was purchased by a young rider with the
Image

hopes of owning the special ex-racer that would take them to the top. His rider in particular was an ambitious hunter who retrained him and showed him for three years before selling him and going to college on the west coast. While the next owners were every bit as ambitious as the previous, they were rather unscrupulous in their methods, constantly bitting the horse up and jumping him in restrictive draw reins in an effort to force him into obedience. Eventually, they grew tired of his excitability, sedated him, and sold him to the first unlucky soul they could find, who just so happened to by Brynn.
Tide is a reactive and dramatic steed; most everyone's impression of him at Crestwood is "that nutty bay gelding constantly tossing his head and attempting to gallop off with his rider." Innately, Tide is actually very willing to please; however, he is incredibly sensitive, especially to rein and leg aids, and will take off at the drop of a hat if he feels at all confused or worried by his rider. On the ground, he is very sweet if not somewhat pushy for treats; under saddle, he's half-decent on the flat if the rider doesn't fuss at him too much, and over fences he is excitable but shows great potential. Tide is actually a very nice mover and has a ton of scope, but his brain often gets scrambled by nervousness, especially if his rider demonstrates any apprehension. He is very good with other horses and, despite his nervous attitude, rarely spooks unless the rider, too, reacts to whatever scared him; he is very trusting of people, but unfortunately tends to misread aids as a cue to "GO."

    Name Daniel Amiri Kawhena
    N.name Danny
    Age 19 years
    Birthdate 3rd Jan
    Gender male
    Sexuality hetero
    Nationality Australian
    Ethnicity Maori-Australian

    Height 5'10
    Weight 74kg
Build athletic, solid; could take a hit or two
    Hair appearance black short
    Eye colour deep brown
    Piercings none
    Tattoos as seen

    Personality
Daniel is a strong willed by level headed young man with a good head on his shoulders, he knows what he wants and is the type to go out and get it but will often be careful with the people he meets on the way. He is a people person and loves meeting new people, making new friends and just being around others. He is a true extrovert and will strike up a conversation with anyone that crosses his path, have his talk about his horses and you'll never get a chance to leave. Although Daniel truly loves being around others, he is quick to become irritated and has a tendency of snapping at people who don't deserve it, this is more prevalent when someone offers to help him as he sees that as a sign of people thinking he isn't good enough. This break in his sweet nature stems from him always wanting to be enough, always wanting to please and always wanting to be doing the right thing. He can't handle thinking he isn't good enough as it is one of his biggest insecurities. He likes doing things by himself even if it hurts him in the processes and is quicker to offer help to a complete stranger than to take it from someone he's known his whole life. People often know him as a bubbly, outgoing young man who has never been sad in his entire life, but that is because he is a pleaser and doesn't want to transfer his negativity onto someone else; he'd rather bottle it up and break down on his own but doesn't realise what this does to his mental health. Although he will never let people know, for a long time Daniel has been a sufferer of depression and has become very good at hiding it and sticking to the stereotype that all men a tough and don't have feelings other than anger. This makes him feel alone and sometimes causes him to exclude himself from the group, he has a complex mind but often copes through listening to music and sketching.
    History
Born and raised as the oldest child in a large family, from a young age he took on the roll of care-giver and spent much of his early childhood helping take care of his five younger siblings; two sisters and three brothers. Daniel was lucky enough to have been born into horses and had always had a deep fascination with warmblood horses but grew up riding whatever cheap Off The Track Thoroughbreds and Standardbreds his parents could find. With an aray of different horses during his life, Daniel learnt how to use his body to ask what he wanted rather than relying on his hands and was competing competitively from the age of seven. He loved the weekends that they would load up the truck and they would all go on this roadtrip to whatever pony club event was that weekend. Although he was naturally very smart, Daniel never did well in school and fell behind in his school work as he became better and better with the horses, often skipping school from the age of fifteen to break and train for a small scale stud farm not far from his highschool. Despite getting into trouble constantly for his absents', he didn't stop what he loved doing and even starting showing the horses he broke. As payment for his work, Daniel had gotten to choose one mare from the breeding program and 'design a foal', to which he chose Rhea. It was only after she had been in foal for several months that the older man who owned the stud passed of a heart attack and his wife couldn't run the property on her own, having no children interested in the stud, all horses went up for sale and he had first 'dibs' on Rhea. Knowing that she was a competitive horse, Daniel jumped at the opportunity and started her back up in the show ring after Kip was weaned off of her. At this point, his father had just been offered a new job in the Untied States and he was faced with loosing both of his precious horses. Daniel fought tooth and nail and was able to convince his parents to let him bring his mare and foal with them with the money he had been using to buy a decent car, it worked and the large family with two horses and dog settled in the U.S.

    Genotype EE/Aa
    Markings back left coronet
    Discipline eventing
    Personality
Rhea is a bold and courageous mare with a heart if gold and a lot to give. She is the type of horse that you can keep asking for more from and she will run her littler heart out trying to please her rider, she is a trier and can not be faulted in that way. This mare, even at her rising age, has so much to give in and out of the ring and is the perfect partner for any equestrian, although she rarely bonds with her handler/rider and if she does, takes her sweet time doing so. Saying that, she is rarely affectionate and the most she will do is rub her head on a person, she does not offer affection of any sort unless it benefits her. Rhea is a work orientated horse and enjoys having a job but this means that she can rarely have time off, she gets bored and starts picking up bad habits and has been known to jump fences in the past, although she hasn't done this is quite some years. With her mind always on the job, when given time to 'be a horse', Rhea will come back in hot and extremely fresh and is definitely not the type of horse you can jut pull out of the paddock and get on. She needs constant work and a consistency in routine and does not do well when this is broken, she also tends to take advantage of inexperienced riders so can only be ridden by people who know what they're doing. Saying that, she can be ridden by any experienced rider with little to no trouble and benefits from having different riders. In general, she is a pleasant mare with good manners both on the ground and under saddle.

    Genotype Ee/aa
Markings star, front right sock, back right sock, back left half coronet
    Parentage Wanderlust x Prestige VDL
    Discipline eventing
    Personality
Kip is an affectionate, curious and brave young horse with an old soul, he is extremely quiet and is the happy go lucky type that takes everything in his stride. One might say he is the type of horse that will make a great lesson horse with a few miles on him as he is rather patient and rarely jumps the gun. Saying this, he can be rather over confident and thinks the world of himself, meaning he has a tendency not to respect the jumps and will jump rather flat when he feels what he is doing is too easy. Although he is a saint to do most things with on the ground, Kip is has a handful of bad habits; such as being girthy, pawing when bored and cribbing if he is left in his stall too long. All these things can be fixed and avoided with vigilant activity. Having been raised by Daniel as his future eventing horse, Kip has been exposed to a variety of activities and places, including show environments, and can go anywhere and do anything. Despite all his good qualities, he is rather green undersaddle and likes to try to drop his rider every now and again, this mostly happens when he is confused or had had enough of doing one thing or another. His owner had high hopes for his future career and plans on hanging onto him for a long time.

    gender: mare
    nickname: valentine, my valentine
    height: 15.1 hh
    discipline: western pleasure, reining
    breed: quarter horse
jasper elijah-ives is a twenty-two year old american male born in Boston, Massachusetts. His parents
were of low-class with his mother working as a chain restaurant server and his father as a bartender.
He grew up in the city until the age of eight before his parents relocated the family to Colorado after
inheriting a large, 45 acre ranch from his father's relatives. it took several months for jasper to adapt
from the busy citylife to quiet countryside, but eventually he did. jasper began riding horses at the
age of ten when his best friend, Ivan, was given a pony for his birthday. the pair took turns riding the
pony and for his own birthday, jasper's parents enrolled him in lessons. he showed a unique talent to
riding horses over the years and eventually, jasper began showing under the heavy watch of his tutor.
at age sixteen, jasper was given his first horse, ps i love you, and began competing in reining in the
next town over. he and his horse earned a name for themselves, placing first back to back in
competitions. after graduation, jasper retired ps i love you and himself from reining competitions. he
enlisted his best friend's help to tend to his beloved mare and enrolled in a university on the east
coast. jasper fell back into citylife during his college years until he was approached by a hunter/
jumper student at crestwood estate. jasper joined the estate shortly sometime in his sophomore year
and began learning under mr. campbell. for his graduation from college, jasper purchased another
horse, whitechapel, and took competing as a hunter/jumper to a whole new level. whitechapel and
jasper eventually became more in-tuned to show-jumping as the estate's purchase went through and
upon mr. campbell's departure, jasper left the farm. he continued to show jump with whitechapel
throughout the east coast. after graduating from university and hearing the farm had been purchased,
jasper decided to take a break from life and participate . with whitechapel and ps i love you at his
side, he anticipates joining the estate's summer boarding program.

all accepted so far! we've got pretty good numbers, it seems, so i'd really like to get started next week, if not late this weekend. i'll put out one more advertising call to see if anyone wants to jump in last minute, but beyond that, i think we're ready to go! i'll be posting some extra information shortly that'll just keep things rolling smoothly.

some extra information has been added to the final post in the main thread, most notably including the schedule for day-to-day life at camp. as well, the lesson, paddock, and stall assignments are now out! of course, if anyone new joins us, i'm more than happy to work them in - there's still plenty of room!
