Hazestar and his patrol returned to camp bruised and battered. Behind the tabby tom Shadowripple and Tumblecloud carried a large and fluffy orange body, the body of Lionfang. Hazestar was furious to have walked into an ambush, but angry at himself for walking into it. It was his fault one of his best warriors lost their lives in such a pointless battle. Hazetsar knew better then that, and yet here he was. A cry of sadness snapped Hazestar back to reality, only to see Cherryshine rush past him to Lionfang's body.

"No! Why!?" Cherryshine cried, pressing her muzzle in Lionfang's lifeless body. Not only where they best friends, but Lionfang had stepped up and acted like a father to her kits. As the red and white tabby she-cat cried, two warm bodies pressed themselves close to her. "Mother..." Emberspark and Acornfall meowed softly in unison. The three cats huddled close together, comforting one another as they mourned the lose of Lionfang.

With the coming leaf-bare came less prey and herbs, but also sickness. HazeClan's medicine cats Stormcloud, Ashfang, and Twigstorm did their best on making sure the rest of the clan stayed healthy. Often going out to gather herbs then checking on the clan before repeating it all over again the next day. However this leaf-bare seemed to be harsher than any others, bringing death to the camp for the first time since Lionfang's passing. The clan's most grumpiest tom-cat, Hickorryburr passed away during the night. Found by his den mate Sunray, the orange tom quickly made his way out of the elder's den and made his way to Hazestar. "Hazestar!" cried Sunray, the elderly tom's voice cracking as he called out for the leader.

Upon returning to camp after injuring himself on a patrol, Hazetsar was on his way to the medicine cats' den when he heard some cat call out for him. Hearing the worry and sadness in the voice, the gray tabby paused in mid-step and turned to see who was calling him. A moment after turning, a large orange mass crashed into the tom, causing him to stagger back a bit. "Sunray, whats wrong? You shouldn't be out here in this cold." Hazestar meowed.

Giving a small shake of his head the orange tom pressed closer to Hazetsar, his body shaking. "Hickory-Hickoyrburr... he's gone." Sunray managed to choke out. Hazetsar's eyes grew wide and gave a small nod of his head. Catching sight of Juniperclaw, the tom gave a small flick of his tail as he motioned for the she-cat to join them. "Juniperclaw, please take Sunray to the nursery with you and the others...Hickoryburr... has joined the Dark Forest." the leader whispered to the queen. Giving a small nod of her head, the tough she-cat guided Sunray to the nursery where the rest of the queens and their kits comforted the orange elder.

Hazestar watched as Juniperclaw and Sunray disappeared into the nursery before signaling for Owlstorm, Shadowripple, Aspencreek, and Tigerleap. Once the small group of cats made their way over Hazestar explained the situation to them before leading them to the elder's den. "With it being so cold out we will take him out and bury him now. Then we shall hold a small vigil after the apprentice ceremonies today." Giving a small nod, the group of cats gently grabbed Hickoryburr and lifted him up, carrying him out of the camp and to the small clearing just near by. There they had decided to bury their dead, Lionfang already being buried there. "He shall join Lionfang now. They both will continue to protect HazeClan, but through spiritual guidance." Hazestar meowed softly.

---

Back at camp after burying Hickoryburr instead of making the call form the High Rock, Hazestar stood on the ground and called for a clan meeting the tom didn't want to further tear his cut. "Let all cats old enough to catch their prey join in front of the High Rock!" Hazestar called out. The clan slowly filtered out of their dens, sitting down in front of the High Rock. In the back of the group sat Bearclaw and her six kits, the fluffy brown she-cat smiling proudly at her kits. "Alright you guys, now you know how these go. You have to wait for Hazestar to call you up." With that, Bearclaw gave each of her kits a quick lick before focusing her attention back on the leader. Upon finishing up with her kits, the leader signaled for the six kits to join him at the front of the group. Starting with Tansykit, Hazestar made his way down the line, speaking to each apprentice.

"Tansykit, you have reached the age of six moons, and it is time for you to be apprenticed. From this day on, until you receive your warrior name, you will be known as Tansypaw. Your mentor will be Oakfang. I hope Oakfang will pass down all he knows on to you."

"Willowkit, you have reached the age of six moons, and it is time for you to be apprenticed. From this day on, until you receive your warrior name, you will be known as Willowpaw. Your mentor will be Dappledwillow. I hope Dappledwillow will pass down all she knows on to you."

"Wolfkit you have reached the age of six moons, and it is time for you to be apprenticed. From this day on, until you receive your warrior name, you will be known as Wolfpaw. Your mentor will be Barkheart. I hope Barkheart will pass down all she knows on to you."

"Whispkit, you have reached the age of six moons, and it is time for you to be apprenticed. From this day on, until you receive your warrior name, you will be known as Whisppaw. Your mentor will be Sootpelt. I hope Sootpelt will pass down all he knows on to you."

"Maplekit, you have reached the age of six moons, and it is time for you to be apprenticed. From this day on, until you receive your warrior name, you will be known as Maplepaw. Your mentor will be Hayfur. I hope Hayfur will pass down all he knows on to you."

"Nettlekit, you have reached the age of six moons, and it is time for you to be apprenticed. From this day on, until you receive your warrior name, you will be known as Nettlepaw. Your mentor will be Haunt. I hope Haunt will pass down all he knows on to you."

With that Hazestar smiled proudly at the newly appointed as the clan chanted their names. With a small nod the tom cat dismissed the clan meeting, letting the new apprentices go off with the mentors and the others to go off and do their own thing.

---

The death of Hickoryburr shook most of the clan, making them all realize once more how short life really was for them. Badgerstrike sat quietly by himself, lost in deep thought. He came to HazeClan as a lost and some what scared apprentice, but quickly grew into a strong and determined tom. However if it wasn't for Swivelspear's constant pestering and teasing to strive him forward, Badgerstrike would have remained that timid tom he once was. The black and white tom cat had a rivalry going with the black and white she-cat, always pushing himself to do better then she. In the end Swivelspear still ended up beating Badgerstrike still, but was more respectful in away, offering to help him from time to time.

Now that they where warriors and more mature, Badgerstrike still felt like that they had that rivalry, but more on an even playing field. Not once did he look at the she-cat in a loving way, but with everything moving around so quickly the tom came to realize that not only did he get frustrated with Swivelspear for her beating him, but for her being her head strong beautiful self. Letting out a frustrating hiss the tom gave a small shake of his head and then sighed. "You got to be kidding me..." he muttered.

"About what?" Windsong meowed. The she-cat must have just come from the warrior's den and had passed Badgerstrike on her way to the fresh kill pile. Flattening his ears in embarrassment, Badgerstrike just shook his head. "Nothing..." he muttered once more. Now curious, Windsong smiled and sat down next to the black and white tom. "No Badgerstrike, we have been friends for some time now. You know you can tell me anything." she purred.

Letting out another sigh Badgerstrike looked at Windsong, before looking down at his paws. "It's about Swivelspear..." he began, only to receive and excited meow from Windsong. "Is it finally happening!?" she exclaimed, her eyes shinning with happiness as she looked at Badgerstrike. Confused, the tom tilted his head a bit. "Oh please Badgerstrike, It wasn't hard to tell that you two had feelings for one another. Not only where you two constantly pushing one another, you where also flirting." she teased, flashing the tom a big smile. "It's about time you realized how you felt about her. I say go for it. I have been rooting for you two since the day you guys met." Windsong explained.

With a friendly push from Windsong, Badgerstrike rose to his paws and went off to find Swivelspear, pausing only briefly to look back at Windsong who smiled proudly. Smiling a bit to himself, the black and white tom padded onward, making his way over to the sunning area where Swivelspear rested. The tom gazed down at the black and white she-cat before clearing his throat softly to catch the she-cat's attention. Lifting her head up Swivelspear looked at Badgerstrike, only to roll her eyes and lay her head back down. "What?" she grumbled, as if annoyed by his presence.

Letting out a small hiss, Badgerstrike quickly shook his head no and regained focus. "Look Swivelspear we need to talk. Your gonna just lie there and listen too. No interrupting like you always do either." he stated firmly. Surprised such assertiveness from the tom, Swivelspear sat up and gave her full attention to Badgerstrike. With a nod from the she-cat, Badgerstrike spoke once more. "Look for a long time we have been picking on each other, pushing each other to be better than the other, and teasing one another. Today that all changes. I didn't realize it until Hickoryburr's passing, as it opened my eyes to the short lives we live. I like you Swivelspear, and have for a long time. I want to know if you would be my mate." he meowed, his fur fluffing up a bit in embarrassment as he spoke.

Shocked by the tom's such forwardness, Swivelspear sat there in silence, trying to fully grasp what had just happened. "Well... Say something." Badgerstrike meowed, his ears slowly beginning to flatten against his head and his determination fading. Only waiting for a brief moment, Badgerstrike turned away and began padding away defeated. "Wait!" Swivelspear called out, causing the tom to stop in his tracks. "I'll be your mate." she meowed softly nuzzling the tom's cheek, showing a more gentler and kinder side to the tom.

Across camp Windsong let out a loud happy yowl, startling most cats near by. Racing over to the pair, she jumped on them and nuzzled each of them. "I'm so happy for you two!" she meowed, loudly purring. Exchanging looks, both Badgerstrike and Swivelspear both rolled their eyes, smiling largely as they nuzzled their friend back.

---

Upon retiring to his den for the rest of the day, Hazestar made himself comfortable in his nest, waiting for sleep to take him. Moments before falling asleep a starry figure appeared in front of the tom cat. "Now Hazetsar, you can't fall asleep now. I must talk to you." the figure spoke, a familiar voice echoing in the tom's den. Lifting his head from his paws, Hazestar's eyes caught sight of Honeystar. Not just a familiar face, but a friend and ally. "Honeystar?" the tom meowed, giving a small head tilt in confusion.

The starry she-cat gave a small chuckle before sitting down in front of the tom. She gave a small nod, and a small frown before smiling once more. "I know it must be a surprise to see me here, but you knew how I was on my last life... It was my time. Before I joined my ancestors I wanted to stop by and say my good byes." Honeystar explained softly.

As the she-cat spoke more, Hazestar sat up in his nest, a frown on the tom's face. He gave a shake of his head not wanting to accept the fact that she had passed. "I-I." Hazetsra began to speak only to be cut off by Honeystar. "Now Hazestar. Please..." she meowed softly. With a small nod of his head the tom remained quiet, letting the she-cat to continue speaking.

"As I was saying, I wanted to inform you that Applenose, now Applestar will be taking over. ForestClan is in good paws with him. Although I will miss raising Beechkit, Minkkit, and Flykit. All I ask is for HazeClan and ForestClan to keep their ally-ship. You have been nothing but kind and helpful Hazestar. Now I must be going, it's time." the she-cat purred. Getting out of his nest, Hazetsar padded over to the starry she-cat and pressed his nose to hers. "Honeystar..." he meowed softly, watching as the she-cat faded away.

Now left alone once again, the gray tabby stood frozen in his spot. His heart aching at the lose of one of losing a well respected friend. Although he did not believe he StarClan, Hazestar sent a silent pray to them, hoping they could hear him wishing that they took great care of Honeystar. Letting out a heavy sigh, the tabby tom padded to his nest, curling up tightly and shutting his eyes. Leaf-bare was going to be tough this time around, but Hazestar had to remain strong for his clan. Only in moments like these could the tom let his guard down and be weak for a brief moment. "Good bye... Honeystar..." the tom meowed softly before drifting off to sleep.

**Meeting the Boys Flash Back**

It was a warm yet comfortable afternoon with little to no clouds in the sky. The sun shined brightly down across HazeClan territory, everything was peaceful. Upon being selected to be on a border patrol at the South end of the territory, Turtledove was thrilled. The she-cat had grown quiet curious of HazeClan's South bordering clan, QuickClan. Today would be her chance to not only be able to familiarize herself with the other clan's scent, but even possibly get to meet some of them.

Flash back to Turtledove and patrol meet up with a friendly QuickClan border patrol. Meets Cyansplash and Falconflight. Patrols exchange friendly talk.

**Present Day**

Upon forming close ties with Falconflight and his mate Cyansplash, Turtledove quickly fell in love with the two toms. To her they where not just friends, but more like her family. She had spent moons getting to know the pair during meet ups at the border, meeting at the gathering, and even just coming across each other's border patrols. Over time Hazestar himself noticed how well his clan mates and QuickClan got along, and their alley-ship thriving. Turtledove was thrilled when he decided to allow for her to visit when ever she pleased instead of asking for permission all the time. Upon hearing the news Turtledove gave Hazestar a quick nuzzle before bonding off to hopefully meet up with Falconflight or Cyanslash at the border. With the good news Turtledove was determined to help the pair of toms get their family started, she would offer to be their surrogate. It would allow her not only help her dearest friends, but also feel more at ease and not worry as much.

Once Turtledove reached the border she sat down and waited. Knowing a QuickClan patrol would soon pass by with in the next few hours. As the sun climbed higher and higher in the sky Turtledove finally caught wind of fresh QuickClan cats coming. Rising to her paws, the fluffy she-cat smiled brightly upon spotting Falconflight's fluffy butt headed her way. "Falconflight!" she called out, happily trotting down her side of the border to meet up with the QuickClan patrol. Surprised to see the she-cat, the QuickClan border patrol

Upon the death of Hickoryburr, HazeClan was left with only one elder, Sunray. The once bright and friendly tom now no longer shared his stories with young warriors, apprentices, and kits. Instead he remained curled up in his nest, his sparkling amber eyes now dull and full of sadness. Hazestar did his best to comfort the old tom, but nothing seemed to work until one fateful day when Murkyeyes stepped into the clan's life.

The poor tom's clan had fallen apart and it's members had no where to go. Not sure where to go or if they would ever find a new home, the cats of LambClan gathered at the gathering sight hoping the other clans would take just one or two of them. Murkyeyes being not only an older tom, but also an elder was finding it harder to be taken in by another clan while the rest of his clan mates one by one found new homes. Although grateful the ancestors where able to take care of his old clan mates, the tan tom began losing faith in ever finding a new home of his own. That was until one night, the tan colored tom met Hazestar.

Murkyeyes had heard of HazeClan and their strange beliefs and ranking ceremonies, and yet the clan seemed to be fairly friendly and peaceful. The old tom found it strange when Hazestar offered to take him in. Sure elders where well respected in most clans, however the tom never got over the fact of why any one would want to take an elder from an old clan in. Who knew how long he had left in his life, only time could tell. However in front of Murkyeyes stood the proud gray tabby leader of HazeClan. Sadness seemed to dwell in the leader's eyes and yet he remained strong. "Why would a tough clan like yours want to take in an elder like myself?" Murkyeyes questioned.

Hazeclan's heart ached a bit for the elder, upset that the tom felt like he didn't deserve to have another shot at a new life. Giving a small shake of his head, the gray tabby tom stepped forward and gently pressed his nose to the elder's cheek before stepping back and speaking. "Elders... no not just elders, but every cat deserves a second chance and a place to call home before they take their last breath. Not only that, but our clan just recently suffered a loss of one of our elders. It's been rough on every cat, but mostly our elder Sunray has been taking it rougher than most. HazeClan would happy to have you, and I'm almost positive Sunray would enjoy the company of another wise elder like yourself. So please. Join us, Murkyeyes." Hazestar purred.

Murkyeyes sat in his spot stunned by Hazestar's words and sudden affection. The brown tom let out a small sigh before giving a small nod. "I'll join your clan...I'll do my best to adapt to your way of life..." he meowed softly. Hazestar gave a small chuckle and small shake of his head before standing next to the elder. "Murkyeyes, I know how cats can be set in their ways. HazeClan has many other cats who believe in 'StarClan', I have no issues with it as long as they know where their loyalties lie. However many have adapted to our ways and changed their beliefs. I'm not saying everyone should, nor feel like they have to, to be accepted. You still will be apart of HazeClan no matter your beliefs Murkyeyes. Now come..." Hazestar meowed, pausing for a moment. "Lets go home."

**Flash Forward**

Upon finishing the long journey back to camp, Hazestar and Murkyeyes caught the rest of the clans attention. Upon realizing what Hazestar had done and realizing that Murkyeyes was an elder the clan gave the two toms space, but gave the new arrival a small nod when they passed by. "They all know that this

As moons came and went, Greenleaf not only brought warmer weather, but also a dry and scorching heat. Days dragged on and on, causing the majority of the not only the clan, but prey as well sought out shade from the scorching heat and the rays of sun. Although most Greenleaves brought prey they also brought fresh rain, but this Greenleaf seemed to be harsher than normal bringing no rain with it this time around. HazeClan had two major sources of water, but also had a small pool near camp in case of emergencies like so. However this time the back up pool dried up quickly along with the stream in the south end of the border. The lake had gone down a lot, but also became popular to predators that could easily kill a cat. It was a struggle for HazeClan that Greenleaf, many perishing from the lack of prey and water.

Hazestar sat in the shade of his den, sprawled out across the cool surface of his den floor. It had been rough the past few moons, losing so many lives in such a short amount of time. The deaths seem to come in waves, Hazestar being one of the first to lose a life during this time. Next was Barkheart and Birdwing, both she-cats dropping just outside the camp entrance as they returned from a small hunting expedition. The death of Birdwing hit Marshpool the hardest out of the four, but Jayfur was also found it hard to cope with his mother's death. Although sad about her death, both Raveneyes and Batwing did not seemed fully phased by the death of their mother. After them came two apprentices, that no cat saw coming. Nettlepaw and Softpaw both passed away in their sleep, their deaths affecting the clan as whole, but their family the most. Pantherpaw stuck close to Starlingpaw and his mother Dappledwillow offering the pair her support as they grieved for the lose of Softpaw. Bearclaw and her five remaining kits sat in silence, but it was clear they where heart broken over Nettlepaw's death. Finally the last deaths where Ryewhisker and Morningflower, Ryewhisker passing away while out on a patrol and Morningflower passing away shortly after refusing to eat that day. Ryewhisker, although a bit of a trouble maker had grown close to Hayfur and thus affected the young tom most, leaving him feeling all alone once again. As for Morningflower's death it completely destroyed Owlstorm as the pair had been close since the beginning of Owlstorm's old clan, GaleClan. The deputy was planning on asking the she-cat to become his mate here soon, but his dream was squashed upon her passing. Firesong had just become mates with Duskbreeze, but had no time to celeberate as she grieved for the lose of her mother. Goldenlily and Inkfire remained strong, for their younger sister but sadness was clearly visible in their eyes.

With so many deaths there was also many still clinging on to their lives, but where slowly getting weaker and weaker with each passing day. Firesong herself had fallen ill to the lack of prey and water, followed by Windsong, Briarwing, Acornfall, Dawnshine, Reedfetaher, and Wolfpaw. Although weak from the exhaustion, Stromcloud himself kept fighting, pushing to help others to fight for their lives, while he himself was slowly becoming weaker and weaker. Although Twigstorm and Ashfang tried to get the storm gray tom to rest, Stormcloud shook his head. "They need us... I. I can't just rest and let them die." he hissed. Knowing Stormcloud wouldn't listen as he was stubborn, both Twigstorm and Ashfang prayed for a miracle.

---

It was devastating to see his clan suffering so much and yet Hazestar still had to send patrols out to gather what little prey they could and possibly find a different temporary source of water until the rains came once again. "Excuse me... Hazestar." a meow rang out, causing the gray tabby to sit up and regain focus. "Come in com in. Sorry... I was just thinking." Hazestar meowed, forcing a small smile onto his face. Upon getting the all clear, Jayfur stepped into the leader's den and sat across from Hazestar. "Ah, Jayfur. What can I do for you?" Hazestar meowed, his ears twitching a bit.

Jayfur let out a long sigh before looking Hazestar in the eyes. "I'd like to volunteer to take a patrol of strong and healthy cats willing to go search for a near by source of water that's closer then the lake and is safer to get to. I know it's dangerous right now due to the lack of everything, but if we just keep sitting here, it'll just get worse." the tom meowed. Jayfur was determined to do his part and save his remaining clan mates.

Knowing he wouldn't be able to talk Jayfur out of it, Hazestar gave a small nod. "Alright...However It won't be very big... I suggest only taking two or three others with you... Go north and see if there isn't something in the mountains. Remember to stay in the shadows and to rest often. May our ancestors watch over you and your patrol." Hazestar meowed. With a small nod Jayfur stood up and dipped his head. "Thank you Hazestar... We will do our best and I promise we will take extra caution." the tom meowed before exiting Hazestar's den.

---

Waiting till the sun was hidden behind clouds Jayfur's small patrol said their good-byes before heading out on their journey. Lead by Jayfur, the rest of the patrol consisted of Sootpelt, Shadowripple, and finally Owlstorm. Although heartbroken over the lose of his love Morningflower, Owlstorm volunteered for the patrol, wanting to keep his mind off of it until he was alone. The clan had a stock pile of prey and could last on it for while, and thus was in dire need of water more than anything. "Make sure to stay in the shadows and rest often. Hazestar doesn't want any of us to push ourselves. We are to search for some sort of source of water that is safer than the lake right now." Jayfur meowed, looking over his shoulder at the three cats that followed him. Although younger than the three that followed, they just nodded their heads knowing this mission was important.

As the small patrol scouted through the mountains for a bit they found shelter in a small cool cave. Upon resting for a bit Jayfur was ready to get back to searching. "Lets split up, but meet back here once the sun begins to set. After words we will report our findings and then return to camp. Hopefully one of us finds something while out exploring. Good luck." he meowed, stepping out of the cave and dashing off into the bushes to continue his search. Behind him the three older cats looked at one another and gave a small sigh. "The tom has determination, but I hope he remains safe. It would be a shame to see another young one go." Sootpelt spoke, his voice deep and gruff. Both Shadowripple and Owlstorm gave a small nod, agreeing with the smokey colored tom. Rising to his paws, Sootpelt gave the two remaining cats a small nod before he himself set out to hopefully find water.

"Then there where two." Shadowripple meowed. The dark gray she-cat glanced over at her former leader and let out a small sigh. "You should have stayed back at camp. Your morning the lose of Morningflower...I don't want you doing anything to rash. However knowing how you are I know you doing this to make sure the clan survives. All I ask is for you to be safe Owlstorm." With that being said Shadowripple rose to her paws and departed ways as well. Now alone Owlstorm let out a heavy sigh and gave a small shake of his head. "I'll make you proud my love..." he meowed softly before rising to his paws and going off on his own.

Also yes, parts of the song have been

Shadowripple and her patrol returned to camp, an unfamiliar tom followed closely behind, his head held high as he entered the camp. Although unfamiliar with the new surroundings the fluffy tom-cat seemed confident in himself, not shying away from anything. Dismissing her patrol, Shadowripple and the new tom walked over to speak to Hazestar only for a pref moment before Hazestar loudly welcomed the new warrior so the rest of the clan could hear. "With all our hardships these past moons the Dark Forest has been kind enough to not only grant us many healthy kits, but also a strong warrior. Please welcome Pumapounce!" Cats came out from their dens when Hazestar announced the new warrior.

Upon returning from an early morning hunting patrol, Cherryshine had decided to take a nap that afternoon but awoke when she heard Hazestar make an announcement. Emerging from the warriors' den, the red tabby froze in her spot as she caught a glimpse of a large fluffy orange figure near Hazestar. Although it had been almost 10 moons since he had passed, for a moment Cherryshine thought the new tom was Lionfang. A wave of emotions hit the she-cat hard and tears began to well up in her eyes. Giving a small shake of her head, Cherryshine forced a smile on her face an chanted along with the rest of the clan. "Pumapounce!" cats chanted in unison until Hazestar dismissed everyone with a small head nod.

While every cat made their way over to introduce themselves to Pumapounce, Cherryshine snagged a plumper looking mouse then normal then made her way out of camp. The she-cat was oblivious didn't even smell the death berries hidden inside, unaware the mouse was meant for Hazestar. Unaware of where she was going, Cherryshine found her way to the clan's burial grounds. She hadn't been here since the day they buried Lionfang. Not only had she not accepted the fact the he was gone, Cherryshine just couldn't bare to come here yet.

Now here she was, standing in front of his grave tears streaming down her face. With a heavy sigh Cherryshine sat down, dropping the mouse at her paws. She stared at it long and hard, her mind racing with a million thoughts on weather or not she should keep fasting. The thoughts of Emberspark came to mind, driving the female to want to live for her daughter. With a small forced sigh the she-cat bent down and began to feast on the mouse. Half way through her meal Cherryshine's body began to feel weird before sending the female into shock before drifting off to sleep. With her life fading away, tears fell from her eyes as she wanted to stay and fight for Emberspark. "Come stop your crying. It will be all right. Just take my paw, hold it tight." a familiar voice said. Cherryshine turned around to find a starry Lionfang standing behind her, a smile on the tom's face as he gazed upon her. Unable to speak, Cherryshine rushed forward and touched noses with Lionfang, the familiar touch of the tom comforting her as they embraced.

---

Back at camp once everyone had introduced themselves to Pumapounce, Emberspark looked around for her mother. She too noticed the similarities the new tom shared with her now deceased adoptive father Lionfang. Her mother had taken Lionfang's death hard, but knew she did her best to remain strong for not only herself but her brother as well. Now with it just being Emberspark and her mother, she knew her mother was even more fragile and something like this probably pushed her over the edge. Emberspark looked around camp only to come up empty pawed. "Mother..." she meowed softly, exiting camp and making her way to the burial grounds. It was the only place she could think her mother would be, although it was a shot in the dark as Cherryshine hadn't been there since Lionfang passed. She didn't even go when they had to bury Acornfall.

Emberspark found herself standing at the edge of the burial grounds, her paws frozen as she gazed out across the land before her. So many cats now peacefully rested here, and yet it was to difficult for even her to step foot inside the grounds. "Come on Emberspark... For mother." she meowed to herself, forcing herself onward until she came to Lionfang's grave.

There Cherryshine lied, lying peacefully on top of Lionfang's grave motionless. "Mother..." choked out, dropping to the ground and pushing her face into her mother's pelt. Hoping to find warmth and comfort, only to find cold and unresponsiveness. Her mother may have been broken, but upon further inspection Emberspark noticed the familiar death berries in a half eat mouse by her mother. Unable to contain her emotions any longer the tabby she-cat broke down, sobbing as she clung to her lifeless mother.

"You must be strong. I may not be with you, but you've got to hold on." a voice echoed in Emberspark's ears. The she-cat lifted her head, blinking tears out of her eyes as she came face to face with three familiar starry figures. Acornfall, Cherryshine, and Lionfang all stood in front of her, a smile on each of their faces. Cherryshine's starry figure stepped forward, nuzzling Emberspark. "I will protect you from all around you. I will be here, don't you cry." Cherryshine meowed, stepping back to allow Lionfang to nuzzle Emberspark next. "For one so small, you seem so strong. My paws will hold you, keep you safe and warm." Lionfang meowed, stepping back to allow Acornfall to speak last. "This bond between us can't be broken. I will be here, don't you cry." Acornfall meowed, lifting a paw to wipe away Emberspark's tears. The three starry figures then embraced Emberspark together, before fading away. Each of their words echoing in her ears, as she watched them fade into the night. Alone once more Emberspark sniffled more before nodding and gazing up at the stars. "You'll be here in my heart, always..."
