ryker grew up in ontario with his mom, dad, and eight siblings. he had a relatively normal childhood, at least up
until he began to slowly lose his vision at the age of eight. even eyeglasses or special contact lenses couldn't help
him by the time he was sixteen, and although his parents owned a large estate and was very wealthy, they were
distant when it came to their children and believed surgery for ryker's eyes would be a waste of money. instead of
feeling let down or betrayed by his own family, ryker took this as motivation to better himself as a person. with
his savings, he attended school at the university of toronto with the intentions of becoming an english teacher in a
foreign country. he never let his impaired eyesight stop him, despite the fact that he was as good as blind at the
age of eighteen. even now, ryker can only see colours and blurry outlines of shapes without detail. he navigates his
way around by using his other senses, particularly his hearing.

when he was younger, he was closest to his younger brothers, evren, naevys, and andromeda. evren had asked to
join ryker on his trip to korea but ryker declined, knowing just how easily distracted evren could be.
