Manestars pelt was getting clumped by his tears. He got to his paws and shook a bit of moss from his nest. "I guess it was for the best." he said, trying to be a little more like his old self.

She nods, standing. She licks his muzzle affectionately. Then she looks down at her paws, embarrassed. "Uh.. did you mean it... when you said you loved me?" she asks quietly.

Manestar smiled. "Yes, I meant every word of it," he said, his one good eye fixed on Mapleshadow.

(you know what i just realized? if manestar and mapleshadow become mates they cant have kits become mapleshadow is the deputy. if they had kits she would give up the position of leader. O.O totally forgot about that)
