I've tried google searching to see if anyone's done a fursuit with multiple mouths/jaws on the head before, and so far my search has turned up empty. My sona has three mouths crammed into the snout, all stacked on one another. I'm not sure if this is something that's entirely possible, which I can thankfully just revert back to the old single-mouth design if so. I know this probably mostly depends on the skill of the maker, so I'd have to choose wisely, but still.

Of course, if it is possible, I'm aware that it'd DEFINITELY add to the cost. I just want to know if it can be done. I can update with a picture of it when I can get around to drawing it.

@FerrousFarron
I picked a really weird time to tune into this thread but I SWEAR I saw a picture of someone at MFF with a multi-mouthed fursuit head. It was more on the spooky, mangled side but it was really cool. I'll see if I can find it!

EDIT: I have looked and looked and cannot dig it up again. I bet it can be done though!

DOUBLE EDIT: AH NO WAIT I FOUND IT! Now that I look at it, probably not what you're looking for.

It’s possible, but from what I can gather it isn’t done a lot. It’s a lot of extra work and balancing ventilation, durability, and comfort may be a bit tricky. JavaHog has made a 2 mouth dutchie before, 3rd from bottom - https://javahog.weebly.com/gallery.html

Idk of any other multi-mouth suits, but Beastcub and CityMutt both make a lot of ‘out-of-the-box’ fursuits and I’m sure either would be happy to take on a commission like that if they think it’s do-able.

Yes henlo
I have return
Honestly I'm kinda nervous around furries but I had a little spare time today to post what I've been up
to since I last posted. Yes, I posted a while ago. I think I just annoy people, who knows.

Over the summer I did some serious upgrades on my own trickster me suit and addressed some (mostly!) fit issues that I'd been having with some of the parts I made back in 2k16. I've lost a considerable amount of weight since last year and one of the places you don't really expect to lose as much is in your head and face and my old head simply did not fit any more.
Image
ofc by this time I had to resize most of my clothes along with everything else and it was a major project e__e But I think I did an okay job idk

I'm going to go ahead and repost the intro or whatever unless I'm not supposed to, in which case I apologise in advance

Are you a Furry or a Fan: Neither, I'm an artist adjacent to the 'fandom'. I got into suit making about 10 years ago because I'm one of those weirdo otherkin. *on all levels except physical meme here*
Do you own a fursuit: Hoooo boi do I ever~
If so have any pictures: I honestly have so many, I have a lot on my IG. I'd be uploading images till Imbolc and I doubt people want THAT many pics of me.
Fave thing about the Fandom: Again, I'm actually kind of scared of furries but I wish I wasn't. I wish the fandom had been a positive place for me to have some community and I feel like I lost out.

that suit is seriously amazing! the quality improved so much over just two years,, i'm really sorry you had a bad experience with the fandom, unfortunately some furries just aren't great people, but i hope people start treating you better because the fandom is //mostly// a pretty cool place.
also, i love the aesthetic of your suit! is the "trickster" part homestuck-inspired? (i'm a huge homestuck fan and i love seeing homestuck related stuff eek!!)

If it really -is- a good place, I probably just have rotten luck because I get a lot of the nastier ones/Or it's something else I'm inadvertently doing because I have NO IDEA. I'm actually kinda jealous of people that have just had good experiences and it's awful because I know not ALL furries are like the ones I keep having issues with but every time I open up, I basically just invite people to play target practice and I'm honestly p sick of it :/

I've lost a lot because of the fandom, I've been bullied off of social media, had my life threatened, had people come to my house with the intent to physically assault me because I wouldn't make them a free fursuit head, I've had untrue rumours started about me that got so out of hand that I had to leave facebook last year when I was already going through a really hard time, Idk. I wish things could have turned out a lot better than they did. I don't want to have to keep people at arm's length but I don't have much confidence in the fandom treating me with a little basic respect for once.

And Yes it is, there's a personal story behind it because again, I don't really suit to become a character, I do it because it's more appropriate to be what I am in a monster suit and people won't think I belong in the Wacky Shack. I could go into detail but I'm not sure this is the place for that ;v

Next year I hope to finally make my fullsuit now that my weight is stable but I don't think people will like it v much/furries only seem interested in toonier stuff unless you're like one of three mega popular realistic-ish makers so I may just keep it secret. I don't have a following or much interest in my work and I never did. It's a shame because I think I do a p good job but I just kinda keep getting shot down ;v My realistic one will be similar/ same ice beast frostiness but not toony. I want to work with NFT fluff and now that they finally have a good bear base I will be able to move forward aw ye
No one's excited about this but me but it'll be fun to do I guess e__e

Hi! I'm planning to make a fursuit when I'm older, I've seen a few tutorials on pinterest, but does anybody know how much it'd cost, the materials I'd need, and what clothes/shoes go good underneath the fursuit? Thanks!

I'm an amateur but I've made 2 heads and a bodysuit. I am also not picky when it comes to the quality and comfortably of the suit (mainly as I'm an amateur I know there's no way around it since the first few suits are still about learning in my experience).

That being said, I was able to make a full fursuit for a little over $100. Again, I'm not picky with my materals, I can go for the cheap stuff. I can improvise.

Most quality heads alone from what I've seen go for at least $300. That's why making my own is worth it to me, even with a lack of quality.

The most expensive material will be the fur, depending on how many colors, fur lengths, sizes you need, what kind of suit you're making, as well as how tall you are. In my opinion, almost every other material can be more or less scrounged, depending on your situation and access to resources.

Again, if you aren't very picky and are willing to use used materals, you can decrease the cost by sometimes finding materials at thrift stores, yard sales etc. Some people take the upholstry foam out of couch cushons, or cut eyes, fur, noses off of stuffed animals. Wash them first, of course, as you'll be wearing them.

This is the extreme budget "I will sacrifice comfortability, mobility, and quality for a cheaper price" version. May not be your best option, but it works for me. If done right, it can still look amazing! However, quality is best if you can afford it.

Good luck!

It can get pretty costly, especially if you don't cut corners and go for the expensive stuff. Going for the expensive stuff is roughly.... $500? This is in CAD, so it will vary depending on where you live. I spent nearly #7fc6fc00 on fur a couple years back, foam was about $100 (I bought a bulk of it and on top of it a couple balaclavas). Misc items would be hot glue gun, hot glue sticks, sewing machine, buckram, etc, adds to the cost. It might even be a bit more than my estimate, as there's honestly no way to tell. It's been years since I've made a fursuit, it got too expensive to keep the hobby alive basically.

Good quality fur will run you $22-$30 a yard. I personally wouldn’t go any lower in quality than luxury shag if you want the suit to last more than a couple years. Lower quality fur = less dense fur, that makes shaving very hard(backing shows through) and the ‘shedding’ that can come from regular washings and brushings has a larger effect on already thin fur. For a starter suit that won’t be used long term however, it can be good practice. If going to somewhere like Joann’s for fur, a good tip is to part the fur and see if/how much of the backing shows. Generally, the less backing you can see the better the fur. It also gives you a good reference on how price effects quality and you can make your own choice as to what you feel works best for you.

For other supplies like foam, plastic, fleece, etc., I’m gonna bring Joanna up again because they have most of the supplies you would need and always have coupons on their website. Also check the fabric remnants bins for good deals on fleece/vinyl/etc. that you may not need a lot of. I got pleather for a collar prop this way, it was just under half a yard which was plenty.

Underneath, you want a balaclava for your head and underarmour heatgear or a different brands equivalent for your body. If you have long hair you might also want something to keep it pinned back, I used to put mine in a quick ponytail when I had long hair.

I don’t think I shared my new suit yet? I commissioned a fullsuit of my fursona from Crystal Creations and it came in just before MFF!
