@anyone who knows - why are there suddenly a lot more older pets in the pound than usual? Is there a specific reason behind the pound ratio being changed?

Oh geez, I've gotten messages from people dealing with really serious irl problems. I usually lean on one of my online mod friends in those cases (Seasonal, Nadine, Simon, Raire o/) . When it's just an unusual question I don't know how to answer, I can ask the other GH's about their thoughts, and a mod might even step in to clarify if we are still uncertain. This way we're sure that we'll give out correct information.

are there anything small and random that you treasure dearly?

I have a torn dollar bill that I always keep in my clarinet case. I got it when I was in middle school, playing in a state honors band with a really accomplished conductor. The experience was probably my favorite performance, and the conductor was really funny. Since it was many many years ago I don't remember why he tore a bill in half and threw it at me, but I do remember being super duper proud.

A quiet day with my mom, dad, and pets hopefully! Eat a big meal, open some gifts, and hope for a little snow but not too much!! (I live far north so snow can be less than thrilling sometimes).

I'm the optimistic realist who isn't afraid to call someone out when they are wrong. But I'm also super sensitive and take everything way too personally, so it's hard for me to find a group that I mesh well with while still being myself. ;w;

Has anyone here ever flown a kite? I remember I used to when I was young. I even made ones out of paper! :D

Ugh... I have such awful memories with kites. I went to Catholic grade school and once a year we had kite day to celebrate the story about Joseph and the coat of many colors. My kite rarely worked, and the one time it did, the string got wrapped around my finger and I got the nastiest cut that lasted for weeks. I was very clumsy and did not have a good time. :< Maybe I'll have to try it again, although I'm still pretty clumsy so I don't think anything will change.

I absolutely love gemstones and rocks. Maybe it's a pretty generic thing to like these days, but they're so beautiful and often unappreciated.

I usually just celebrate with my mom. We exchange gifts, watch Christmas movies and relax. Her aunt usually comes over in the afternoon. We used to do a lot more when I was a kid, but my family has gotten quite small and we are not closely related to those who are still around. :c

Ooh, I love this question! There's just something about good lyrics that makes my heart melt. Lyrics can make or break a song for me. My favorites come and go depending on what I am currently listening to and how my life is going, but some lyrics that are always going to stick with me are from the song "If I'm James Dean, You're Audrey Hepburn" by Sleeping With Sirens.

I'm often told that I'm a good listener and that it's easy to open up to me about feelings. I seem to be the recipient of many "Hey, I didn't want to talk about this in main, but do you have a moment?" messages. Also I fall asleep on people a lot when cuddling. So I guess I'm the family cat.

Most of my little treasures are things I got from important individuals in my life, so I guess they aren't really random? There's the ring my first boyfriend gave me, a wristlet from one of my best friends, the collar of our previous family dog, the ticket from the aquarium my boyfriend took me to as our first date, a chicken figurine from my kindergarten friend...
Maybe my pottery goose counts? It belonged to mom and she wanted to throw it out because it had fallen down and the head broke off. I glued it back on and gave the goose a little jingle collar to cover up the fracture. I don't know why I felt compelled to save it, it's not even particularly pretty. But I love it and I'm keeping it.

Open doors to whatever room I'm in. I just feel uncomfortable with open doors for some reason, if I'm in the room I need it to be closed in order to relax. Most people don't realize and that's fine, but people in my family have caught on and sometimes leave the doors open on purpose, especially mom.

We have dinner together with my aunt's family every year. I used to like that when I was a kid, but nowadays I'd pay real money to avoid it without everyone guilt-tripping me about "family time". If I had to choose between wisdom teeth removal and listening to my dad and uncle talking about politics, I'd already be on the phone with my dentist.

But on the bright side, one of my friend groups has a marathon of the Star Wars prequels planned around Christmas, I'm looking forward to that :]
