He nodded, listening to his words intently. "Sounds interesting. Have you ever considered a career in the corporate world? My law firm is hiring interns. It's a paid position you know."

June released a groan as she rolled her yes dramatically. "Daddy, just leave the dog alone."

"I'll keep it in mind. But I enjoy my work."
Kalelr stiffened when June called him a dog. He hated when people called him that, especially her. But he held his tongue, keeping from calling her a fish, because he wanted her parents to at least like him.

June's father glared at her. "You will not address our guest like that, June. Apologize." He snapped at her but she only rose to her feet and flipped her hair over her shoulder. "Come on Kal, we are done." She said stubbornly before leaving the room.

Kalelr stayed in his seat, confused and unsure of what to do. He got up a moment later, feeling like he should leave, though it had felt nice to be around people who were kind to him. "I should, uh, probably get going."

The family had already resumed their meal and ignored him when he spoke, too immersed in their own world to notice how uncomfortable he was.

Hurt flashed in his eyes, but he pulled an emotionless mask over it. He turned and walked to the door, shoving his jacket on. Why had he even come here?

As soon as he walked out of the dining room and into the hall June pushed him up against the wall out of view and kissed him roughly. Her palms pressed into his chest as she kissed him and the taste of ehr lipgloss filled his mouth but she didnt seem to care.

Kalelr stiffened in surprise, his hands gripping her arms. He pulled her away enough to speak. "What---" he sputtered, completely confused with her actions.

June rolled her eyes but just grabbed his hand and pulled him up to her room. Once inside she shut the door and flopped down on her bed. "Despite my pride I feel you deserve an apology for my father." She said but didnt bother to actually state the apology. She looked up at the canopy above her bed, leaving him to be awkward by the door as her head swam with self absorbed thoughts of how embarrassing her father was.

Kalelr sat down on the edge of her bed, sighing. At least she was being nicer right now. "You weren't helping with anyone of that," he pointed out. "I'm not a dog, fish."
