Ethan did the stupidest thing he grabbed Gibbs' wrist "STOP!" he said starring Gibbs in the eyes. He was having flashes of his childhood and his father abusing him.

Gibbs turned his eyes to stare at Ethan. This was embarrassing, that Ethan would do this, and in-front of the new privates as well. "I suggest you stand down." he ordered the Lance corporal.

Ethan stepped back and looked away. He couldn't believe he had done that, he had not only embarrassed Gibbs but he also embarrassed himself. Gibbs had been a dad to him.

Gibbs had seen the regret in his eyes but he couldn't let it go unpunished in front of the children. alone maybe but not here. "Attention, all of you." he ordered.

Roran stood to attention unhappily, he doubted what Ethan had done had actually helped Dunny any.

Dunny stood between Roran and Ethan. He drew himself into what he had been taught was attention position.

Ethan stood at attention. He hadn't had to do this since his last day of camp 2 years ago.

Gibbs began to speak in a soft dangerously calm voice. "I'm not sure any of you quite understand." he explained "I am in charge." he told them "I can do what I like." At this point he reached and slapped the back of Roran's head hardish. Compared to how he had hit Dunny a second ago it was but a love tap.

Roran pursed his lips, he wasn't sure why he was being included in this. He made angry eyes ready to eyeball Gibbs.

But Gibbs eyes were aimed at Dunny now, as he told them "I can hit you." He hit Dunny, the same as he had hit Roran.

Dunny was relieved when it didn't hurt that much.

Gibbs took another step until he was looking directly in Ethan's eyes "All of you." He reached up to hit him, pretty hard, but slow enough for Ethan to reach out and stop. The idea was Roan would let him land the blow, accepting Gibbs' right to hit him. It was also partially a act of humiliation to be treated like a private again.

Ethan didn't stop him but let him it him. It brought a smile to his face. He looked at Gibbs. It was like the old days.

Gibbs smiled and felt a twinge of nostalgia. "If anyone has a problem with that they are welcome to leave." Either they are here because they want to be, or because it's here or some where worse. So all of them had some motivation to stay there. He turned back to Dunny "where are they?" he asked resuming his interrogation.

Dunny looked at him calmly "I am not telling Sir." he reiterated.

Gibbs shrugged and reached up to hit him again.

Dunny accepted the blow he had a pretty high pain tolerance.

Gibbs frowned this wasn't working. he grabbed Roran by the arm and forced him to stand side on in front of Dunny. He gestured for Ethan to come to him. In a way he was showing him he was forgiven, in a way he was continuing his punishment.

Ethan stepped foward, "Sir?" he was in a trance he was 17, watching the imature minors that wouldn't listen to Gibbs.

Gibbs nodded and pointed to a spot opposite Roran about a foot and a half away. "when I nod you hit him." he gestured at Roran. "that is an order." he informed him. everything in his training told him to never to disobey a direct order. He just hoped that conditioning and discipline, ruled over his dislike for the task.

Roran looked at Gibbs in anger as comprehension dawned on him. "That's not fair!" he exclaimed.

Dunny looked down at his feet he wasn't sure if he would be able to refuse to answer Gibbs if it was going to end up with Roran being hurt.
