OOC: I haven't... what happened?

"Fine, thank you." she answered, "How are you?" Mary looked to her watch, even though she didn't have to leave right away. It was just a habit for her to look. "What did you two have planned for breakfast?" she asked, "I could make something if you two can agree on it."

(Last night at midnight there was a shooting at a bar, and twelve people died. Then today there were two fires. Oof.)

"I'm good. And I can make something for breakfast, Mary. You do so much. What do you want, Alessa?" David asked.

[Boomer]

OOC: Oh, I think I did see something about the bar. Didn't know the name of it though.
BIC:
"I don't mind at all." she said, "It's one of the few things I enjoy outside of work." "Are the pups with Maria?" asked Alessa. Mary nodded as she helped the girl onto her feet. "Yes, they're spending the day with her." she answered, "What are you in the mood for today?" "Could you make cinnamon rolls?" asked Alessa, "The pups told me that they're the best." "I suppose I can." said Mary softly, "Let's go see if we have everything to make them, okay?" Alessa took Mary's paw as they walked into the kitchen.

David followed them, blushing at Mary's kindness. "Th-thank you, Mary." He wondered how any man could have disliked her.

[Boomer]

"You're welcome." she said softly, going into the kitchen. Alessa helped Mary find everything that they'd need. Mary was more than patient as she taught Alessa how to mix the ingredients together and how to roll the dough to make the perfect rolls. Of course she never shooed David out of the way.

David watched, intrigued; he loved baking, but he hadn't done it in the last few years. Alessa made him so high-strung. He just wished they could both be normal someday, soon.

[Boomer]

As the oven went off, Mary and Alessa gently placed the rolls in a circle to bake. Mary took over placing them into the oven, as Alessa shied away from the oven.

David sat down at the table, mesmerized at the two girls.

[Boomer]

"While they're baking, we've got to make the frosting." said Mary, getting a new bowl. She and Alessa made the thick frosting for the cinnamon rolls. Alessa felt at ease; even though her life was made a living hell by the woman that should've cared about her the most, she still longed for a caring mother figure.

David could see what Alessa was feeling. He wished he and Mary could truly be together, but like with Alessa, those things needed time. He couldn't hurt Mary like she had been hurt before, like how he had first addressed her at the hospital when Alessa hurt herself on the window after David started a fire in the fireplace. As much as he wanted her, he needed to let her choose what she wanted to do. Maybe he needed to stop being so embarrassed around her. He tried to be more confident.
