“Ósnjallr maðr
hyggsk munu ey lifa,
ef hann við víg varask;
en elli gefr
hánum engi frið,
þótt hánum geirar gefi.”

English

"A coward thinks he'll always live
If he keeps himself out of the fight.
Old age will grant him no peace
though the spears may."

Psychology: Does not understand cause and effect
Self-discipline: Feels invincible
Lifestyle: Hates to live alone, Impulsive, Expects special treatment
Social attitude: Extroverted. Strong feelings of entitlement and Argumentative
Honesty and honour: Malicious
Emotional capacity: Insensitive
Current emotional state: Betrayed

Personality in a breath:

A whole lot can be said about Bolverk, but the fact he's cold and perverse is just the tip of the iceberg. On top of that he's also intolerant, coarse and dishonest, but they're not as prominent and counteracted by habits of being sympathetic as well.
But focus on his as this is what he's loathed. There's a great deal of pain left on all sides because of this and his pedantic nature, but that may just be the nature of the beast.

Fair is fair though, Bolverk does have some brighter sides within the darkness. He's rational and reflective if nothing else, it isn't all doom and gloom.
Unfortunately his perversions will probably never truly go away.

Facts and Legend

BOLVERK - How I Chose the Name and The Story Behind It
Evil-Doer The name odin used when he went to jotunheim to steal back the mead of poetry. Odin took the form of a tall, strong man. When he found nine slaves working wearily in a field, he offered to sharpen their scythes with his whetstone. The slaves were so impressed with the sharpness of their blades after Bolverk had honed them that they asked for the whetstone. Odin-Bolverk threw it up in the air. As they scrambled to catch it, the nine work-ers managed to kill each other with their scythes. Thus Odin-Bolverk was able to ingratiate himself with their master, baugi, who now had no workers and was glad to employ the stranger. As a reward for his work, Baugi eventually led Odin to the cave where the mead of poetry was hidden. The character of Bolverk shows Odin as a devious, cruel being who will shed the blood of others to gain his ends. source

Legend of Bolverk
“Daddykins can you pleeeaassee tell me why we have to create these dream catchers? My paws hurt and it’s hard to make it look pretty” Whined a little she-flit named Alani as she fumbled about with some lichen, using her saliva to first spin it to thread.

“Ah. My darling you wish to know? There is something out there, or so the legend goes. Something that likes the taste of your blood and the sound of your screams. Horrendous the creature is that seems half-dead due to its grotesque look. He stalks about like a roaring lion yet makes not a single sound. A Shadow is his disguise and a camouflage for his distinct movements. This legend is said to be a wives tale but not all believe that, in fact a small town deep in the woods are fond believers of such a myth. The creature known as Bolverk has a history to him. No one knows where he came from or how long he shall live. No one knows if a new one comes about every few generations to fulfill its task.

The townsfolk, whether they believe or not, spend hours on a certain full moon in the year creating a dreamcatcher. They must take a branch from within the forest and twine it into a circular shape, collect the old man's beard lichen from the trees and turn them to fine threads and begin to tie it into its beautiful web design. With this they must stain some of the thread with their blood to provide their families scent and attach a single feather to said dreamcatcher. Then this must be placed outside of their homes. Showing their surrender to the beast and that they will not cause harm to it if it doesn’t cause harm to them.

Still, those who forget are sometimes devoured by the beast or taken away and never seen again. It has been known that this creature will harm males and steal away females or little ones for his own. Creating a sort of hidden group in a secretive place within the darkened Forest. And that’s why you are not allowed to roam about on your own” explained a tall yet rather handsome flit named Mercury. He gazed at his daughter fondly before licking the little tuft of fur upon her head and standing up to go grab another branch.

“Oooo” Alani said in awe and slight fear before bouncing up to follow her dad. “Hey! Daddykins I have more questions. What does he look like? Does he really look scary? I bet he is actually nice if he exists! Oh!! Maybe I could meet h-“ she was cut off by her father Shadow clasping around her mouth to silence her.

“That’s enough Alani. Go ask your mother” Mercury mumbled as his ears went back and he sighed.

Poem

Postby SpotSong » Tue Nov 06, 2018 7:28 pm

Stand
A simple word
An action
I remember when I was younger
I was always told to stand up straight
For a child who heard words of cruelty
Not of comfort
It was an impossibility
When those you consider peers
Treat you as an outcast
How does one stand up straight
Sadly
I know I was not alone
The world is full of those called outcast
We spent the days trying to understand
That rhyme
The one of sticks and stones
How do you tell someone
Who doesn't feel they deserve love
That words are just words
How do you tell the man
Who thought death was the only way
That life is worth living
How do you convince the person
Who's own mind is against them
That there are people who care

I know that type of person well
I saw them everyday
They were in the mirror
In the reflection of the water
I could only see
The failure who stood in front of me
I only saw the man
Who seemed to drop everything
The clutz who could never find love
The outcast who was to afraid to try
The man
Who only felt like a boy
Though do you see what's important
It's all past tense

In even the darkest despair
Where death seemed the better way
I could hear that voice
Saying stand up straight
When even all I felt I could do
Was crawl
Somehow
Someway
I stood
Balled my fist
Slammed it again and again on the ground
When my hands would listen
Then came my legs
I slipped not once
Not twice
I fell again and again
Until finally
Covered in the bruises of attempts
I stood
The next part was the hardest
Now it was time to prove the impossible
Possible
Though I felt like atlas
With the entire world upon my back
I did it
A fantasy
Finally turned
Reality
I stood up
I stood up straight and with a smile
My wounds no longer wounds
Now scars of victory
They say it's easy
Allow someone who's been through it
To say the truth
It is hard
To stand up again and again
When the world keeps knocking you down
Stand
When those who only want to see you fail
Stand
Will you falter and fall
Yes
That is simply how life is
You must
Stand back up
Be knocked down one hundred times
Stand one hundred and one
You who hear this
In person, voice, or reading
I want you
To stand
You here today have proven them wrong
You have every right to stand
Despite what anyone says
You are strong
You are brave
Even if you can only crawl
You will stand
Not only stand
But with a head held high
For I knew a failure
Someone who at times would call himself
A mistake
And if he could stand
Then he knows you can too.
