Cassandra wasn't one to brag, but she could say with easy confidence that the Stormclouds were thriving. They had a chief of each rank, and despite several of their population living completely underwater. Thomas was about ready to start testing the various ranks, although personally Cassandra thought the centaur would make a fine scout, he was quick and lithe, although that might change as he grew older, since stallions often started off scrawny before becoming quite bulky.

N'reg watched as Rosanth disappeared from the cloudy winter sky, and lowered his hand. Seanni was to take Master Harper Waxinnan and Eshni to the Harper Hall in Fort Hold to qualify Eshni as an official Harper apprentice. This left him to deal with the weyrlings, who were almost ready to be counted as official dragonriders. Though it was normal to him, he sometimes wondered how dragonriders of Passes and Intervals could handle a year or less of training before being thrown out into the world, sometimes to face Thread but more often than not to face food shortages, hostile Holders, and other issues such as these.

He turned back to Predath, who watched, tense, as his mate had disappeared. The great bronze had been more restless than usual, and though N'reg doubted it was the possibility of Rosanth rising, he wondered if perhaps Soyah's green, Borinth, might rise instead. N'reg sighed and sent a mental prod to his dragon. It was time to go back to work. He could worry later.

Eshni scowled at the materials spread in front of her, picking up a cutting knife. "What am I supposed to do with this?!" she asked, voice high-pitched with stress. "I don't know how to make a drum! And besides," she said with a glare at her mentor, Harper Waxinnan, "we haven't needed to use the drum codes for turns. TURNS!"

Waxinnan sighed. "The drum codes are still extremely useful, especially if you're interested in working with genetics, and learning how to make drums is necessary if you wish to be a drummer. I don't know if you remember, but the Healercraft often coordinates with the Harpercraft to study PNA in hopes of using Kitti Ping's techniques and improving the dragon, fire-lizard, and wher genetic code."

"Yeah," said Eshni sullenly, rolling her eyes, "but I don't really wanna study PNA. I just want to compose. And teach history."

"And to do that, you'll need to know how to make instruments and how to play them," replied Waxinnan, throwing his hands up. "Don't ask me why the Halls insist on this. I myself am in agreement with those living at Landing that we should move away from the Hold and Hall system but after a few thousand years..."

Eshni made an annoyed noise in her throat.

"Exactly." Waxinnan shrugged, sitting up from the couch he had been stretched out on. "Maybe this Weyrhold will be different. Seanni and N'reg have expressed interest in exploring what's out there--" And with this, he motioned to the sky, "--and potentially making contact with the FSP. If it still exists," he mumbled under his breath.

"What's the FSP, again?"

"Federated Sentient Planets," said Waxinnan with disgust. "They looked at the Southern continent and didn't bother to look at the Northern continent when they had aaaall the time in the world. I suppose it meant that we got to develop independently, but there's no real reason for them not to have come back. For over two thousand years."

Eshni looked up and shrugged, a small expression somehow. "Maybe they thought that we were all doomed?"

"Whooo knows."

Spring
Spring is here! During spring, birthings will be smooth and the chances of mothers or children dying during birth will drop dramatically. There is also a higher chance of catching more prey or finding new people and skilled animals looking for shelter, and the odds of sickness will drop.

New life is what spring brings. The snow has just started to melt and villagers will be looking to plant their crops for summer and fall harvests. However, thunderstorms will be more common and with them, new people and animals who look for shelter from the rains.

The newest version of CAV is officially up and open for playing! Once you receive your reply, please direct all future posts to that topic. The market will be up soon once I confirm with amethyst14 if I should create a new topic. When you make your first post on the new thread, I will be giving a little surprise to all of my villages.

In addition, I will be hosting readoptions on the fanclub due to the amount of villages who have chosen to disband. Please remember to read the rules as a whole, and the rules/notes for each village. Don't make me take in people. Because I will happily do so if no one adopts anyone and then Black Rock Weyrhold will swell to never-before-seen sizes.

There was once a time when the Kyrane Empire thrived, a noble dynasty of only the strong and valiant. They were powerful, lead by a family of shapeshifters known as the Kyranes. Needless to say, the empire fell before the hands of chaos. Species
xxxThe people of Kyr strictly consist of three species: shapeshifters, vampire and sirens. Other species are not prohibited, and are sent away or killed (in the most severe cases) if they request join the empire. Shapeshifters take up almost all of the population, with vampires being the rarest to encounter. The sirens have the ability to shift to a human form if need be.

Animals

xxxAnimals are a important part of the Kyrane, aiding the people with both companionship and help in their duties. All species of animals are acceptable, with dragons and horses being the most common. Eastern dragons are popular amongst the people, for they are intelligent, perceiving and bond with their owners. Western dragons are also a common choice of dragon, while the Pernese are rare to come across.

Economy
xxxThe Kyrane Empire focuses open two main sources of income, battle tools and jewelry. It is a sign of status amongst the Kyr people to own a assortment of weaponry and jewelry, and you will often see the upper class owning jewel studded swords, or with necklaces, rings and earrings draped among them.

Territory

xxxThe land of the empire has stayed the same for years, secluded from the rest of civilization upon their own island. The island consists of mainly jungle, with a region of mountainous land near the center of the territory. The empire village is rather lavish, with a fishery nearby.

Nyx Greybone was an impressive woman, built like a house and as strong as a bull. One could easily see how she was built for war, a statuesque monolith from salt-soaked lands. Scars threaded like roads over weathered skin and when she crossed her arms, Nyx seemed to be able to fill the entire sky, her shadow falling across the ground like a royal carpet. A bone necklace hung low from her neck, swinging deep over a black shirt, adorned with a single bloodstone; It was worn and smoothed, evidently a worry stone that Nyx had kept close to her mighty chest.

However, it was not so easy to see how she was built for love.

Stood at the mouth of the cavern, Nyx watched nervously as the young boy waddled along the sapphire-blue creek. ''How old is he again?'' The warrior murmured, glancing at the elf. Of course, Nyx had faith that the mother knew what she was doing but what if she wasn't!? Nyx didn't know the full story here and she had had enough of her own experiences with child-death to remain wary.

''He's 2 years old.'' Stella replied with a touch of pride, heart swelling as she gazed at her son. ''And so strong already.'' Glancing at Nyx, she elbowed the woman with a playful expression. ''Hey, maybe you could be his mentor when he's older?'' Stella knew that look in Nyx's eyes; The look of a mother, clearly concerned for their well-being and consequently, there was no-one better that Stella wanted to teach her son, except for her good friend Sitara.

Smiling bashfully, Nyx crossed her arms and rolled her eyes softly. ''Heh, maybe.'' Nothing was set in stone, of course and yet Nyx felt terrible; Could she really afford to try again? When the last few attempts had brought nothing but disaster? Unconsciously, Nyx felt her fingers moving for the bloodstone's cool touch and found herself moving away, further into the shadows, further, further further.

No wonder they had exiled her.
