overall appearance ;; joshua is large and intimidating. he has a med-length(double coat) coarse, pure ebony coat (its soft on his underbelly). he is quite muscular, although do not allow that to fool you; he is still quite agile. walks with a slight limp. has very dark chocolate eyes that reflect determination and a bit of insanity. he walks with a purpose, and moves like a seasoned veteran.
personality ;; suspicious, socially awkward and a little crazy, joshua is a solitary, independent individual. he always questions someone's intent, and usually thinks the worst of someone. which, of course, leads to him being a secretive, awkward individual. he is also a little crazy. literally. has ptsd from being shot, and dreams of his lost owner pretty much every night. sometimes goes into space (though never when working!) and would rather curl under a bush and creepily stare at someone rather so than have a discussion. however, if you can get past his weirdness, joshua is intelligent, brave, driven and loyal. honestly, the perfect companion to have by your side, period, and definitely in an apocalypse. he will always work to solve a problem, no matter how difficult or how long it takes. and while he is insanely mistrustful, once he bonds, he will literally never leave you. he would die the most agonizing death for someone he loves. he is also quite intriguing to watch, as he has some rather disturbing habits.
history ;; joshua was born a stray. he survive with his mom for six months until she passed, and then he fell ill to the point of a coma. he was found by a kind man, and nursed to life. he was going to be raised as a housepet, however, it seemed joshua had a gift. an insanely sensitive nose, even for a dog. one day while walking through a random neighborhood, joshua accidentally sniffed out a literally microscopic portion of marijuana. the owner wasn't found, however, that gave his first owner a great idea. joshua was given to the local police to be trained as a detection(sniffing for drugs + bodily evidence) dog. joshua thrived in this environment, as having something to do was perfect for his clever, driven mind. he was paired with his one true owner, rhena. for four years joshua worked with the police department, until one day his owner died from unknown causes. unable to work with anyone else, joshua was forced to retire early, and not even six months later the pandemic struck.
