Budgie

Hi i am planning to get a new budgie, and it will be my first time owning a bird. It's not an impulse buy, I am doing lots of research and have already contacted an avian vet about seeing my budgie as soon as I get it, but does anyone have any tips for first time bird owners?
If so, please let me know!
