In most TF verses (TFP especially), have you ever noticed that some of the shots fired by the cons are either absorbed by the bots, deflected from their armour, or just flat out ineffective most of the time? And other times a single shot cripples someone or (in the case that a Bot shoots a Vehicon) kills them instantly? Why do they do that? Do you think it's just what the animators do, or that some weapon types are more effective than others?

In Fall of Cybertron, the characters have shields around them that take a bit of damage before giving out, but it's never mentioned elsewhere that I've noticed.

YES I was just thinking about that the other day myth!!! I can't say for all verses but for Prime and G1, I'm pretty sure it's a matter of "Oh Optimus is wounded at this moment for plot" and then any other gun fire is just "INTENSE ACTION"

Or maybe most shots are deflected and then someone gets lucky by hitting them in a joint but idk sometimes shots go straight through their metal and it's like "But you've been shot before and nothing happened..."

Honestly it's bc the bots are good guys. I've seen it in lots of shows, it's kinda just used to make whoever the good guys are look cooler.

OMG THAT ANNOYS ME TO NO END. Like, there will be shows where there is gunfire exchanged and no-one gets shot, sure, but to have someone legitimately shot, and not get hurt? "Oh, it's convenient for the plot now for Megatron to get hurt. Oh wait, now it's Prime's turn. You know what? 'Bee needs some ouchie time. Now all shots are going to be totally ineffective for the next three episodes, until it's time to kill off a main character".

It's infuriating, and like Song said, it empowers the 'good guys' and makes them all the more popular among kids and toy makers etc. X'P I, for one, have never seen a Decepticon costume for sale when I've been out and about, plenty of Prime and Bee though, for example.

Then again, when I'm writing something and for plot someone needs to be injured, they gonna get injured. But no one is impervious, lots of people get hurt in fire fights, some from direct hits and some from misfire or debris.



On another note, I'm dying for a 1x1 TF roleplay right now but I can't think of any plots. D':
