Roleplay thread

Before the famine, a very large herd of purebred Arabians roamed their own large patch of desert. Despite the heat and lack of water and grazing grounds, they flourished for many years.

But before they fell, a famine ravaged the human civilization on the outskirts of the desert. The humans discovered fertile ground in the desert and began to invade. The native horses, of course, had never encountered these new creatures before and were unable to defend themselves when the humans came with their ropes and tack. The beautiful Arabians were demoted to nothing but workhorses and the herd was destroyed...

By now, the famine has ended and the humans have receded back to their original villages after running out of fertile soil. The land is free to roam again, although there are far fewer plants and things to eat left. Horses have wandered back into the territory, but how will they survive?

backstory. sultan is a former stud originally imported
from turkmenistan, making him one of the horses entering
the desert not descended from the initial herd. he was
bought by a wealthy breeder but later thrown out and
abandoned before he could sire any foals after his owner
found out that his grandsire was an arabian, which meant
that sultan was not a purebred. after his abandonment, the
stallion was taken in and cared for by a kind family
living in the village. when the village moved back to
their original land, the family was unable to bring sultan
with them and had to leave him in the desert.
