Prompt One:
It's dark. You can't see a thing, not even your hand in front your face. However you do feel something...

"WHAT WAS THAT?!?!?!"
"Hey, calm down-"
"IT JUST TOUCHED ME AGAIN WHAT IS IT OMG IS IT A SPIDER OR A GHOST OR YOU KNOW WHAT I DON'T EVEN WANT TO KNOW I'M GETTING OUT OF HERE!!!"
"No you're not, you're going to sit right here with me and investigate," she snapped, yanking him back down roughly by his tail. He whined pathetically desperately wishing he was anywhere but here. The old hospital was dark, wet, and filthy, with more than it's share of creepy and disconcerting. Somewhere not too far away there was the sound of dripping water, and in his mind he swore he could hear whispering from some hidden part of the building. His cohort seemed completely unaffected; well, she always had been the brave one. Foolish too, like trespassing onto government property to "investigate" a haunted hospital in the inky blackness of a moon-starved night. Then again, he was foolish for agreeing to it; man, he did some stupid things for love.
"Spirits, I call on you to make yourself known to us... Manifest... Use our energy..." With every word she spoke he grew more and more apprehensive until he was literally shaking when suddenly something brushed his hand. Immediately he bolted, stumbling over debris and crashing his way through the hallways until she heard the front glass door open followed by the surprised shouts of the rest of their group. She sat there, totally dumbfounded as she retracted her hand; she thought holding his would have calmed him, but that is definitely not how it turned out. So distracted by her best friend's freak out, she almost missed the disembodied chuckle that rumbled only a few feet away from where she sat.
[287 words]

Prompt Two:
Why couldn't it have been bunnies and kittens?

"Why couldn't it have been bunnies and kittens?"
"You hate bunnies and kittens."
"I do not! ...Okay, maybe bunnies, but I quite like kittens. They just scratch too much. Besides, they'd still be preferable to this."
It was Halloween night, the worst night of the year. For her, at least. She loved the horror, the parties, the scary movies and the gorging yourself on sugar until you were sick, but it was the children. Oh God the children. Little snot-nosed brats running around in stupid costumes demanding you give them all of your candy. It infuriated her, even though that was something so petty that it made her best friend and owner roll their eyes. As a requirement of her church youth group, every Halloween they ran a Trunk-or-Treat/Fall Bazaar as a safer alternative to regular Trick-or-Treating, and being the mount of Pastor's daughter, she was always right in the thick of it. She loved dressing up in lavish and amazing costumes with her rider and going out with other Flit riders and looking at decorations, there was no doubt about that. But the way the kids just crowded her and pet her and messed up her look just annoyed her to no end. But, being the good-natured Flit she was expected to be overrides her desires, so she just stands there and silently fumes.
Besides, her owner knows just how much she hates it, so a few extra treats get snuck her way when she behaves.

Prompt 1 wrote:It's dark. You can't see a thing, not even your hand in front your face. However you do feel something...

This would be fun, they said. Halloween is a great tradition from the other world! They said. Well, Lyra wasn’t too pleased with the whole event. It was dark, it was scary, and she was terrified. “I can’t see a thing,” she whimpered, her long ears flattening in fear. She looked for something, anything that could be tied back to Eltanin or Mystic. “You guys?” She called out, reaching out in front of her to make sure she wouldn’t run into a tree... or something worse. Her mind raced through all of the possibilities, all of which decided she would end up in the spirit realm by the end of the night. “Goodbye, sun.” She whispered dramatically.

She let out a high pitched scream moments later, when she felt something brush against her back. “Just a leaf, just a leaf,” she told herself, the cold icy hands of death not laying a finger on her today. No sir. “It’s all FINE, everything is FINE, you are FINE.” She whispered. Even she didn’t believe it, though. She held her breath as she felt yet another “leaf” brush against her back, sending chills down her spine. She couldn’t take it. Lyra knee if she screamed again, she would attract a manticore or some other sinister beast that prowled throughout the woods. Eltanin himself had already encountered one, Omen once backing up the story. They were gone, though. Omen hadn’t come back in over a year, but Lyra made a promise to stay! To keep everything running smoothly until their return. Right now, it didn’t seem like she was keeping thst promise all that well.

Third time. The object once again ran down her back, pushing a little bit harder this time. The added force was enough to make Lyra try to start running, only to run headfirst into a tree, her horn embedding itself inside. She was stuck. “Please don’t kill me, please don’t kill me, I don’t want to die,” she cried out, struggling to break her horn free from the evertrees grasp. “Oh god’s i’m going to die,” She whispered to herself, awaiting to be attacked by the very monster that she had felt moments prior. However, she was only met by a wild laughter.

“Mystic?” Lyra called out, clearly angered. “Mystic that’s not fu- Eltanin you too?”

Eltanin and Mystic trotted over to Lyra, their particles of light now allowing her to view them, or at least their outlines. “You guys that wasn’t funny!”

“I dunno, I thought it was pretty funny.” Mystic retorted

“You guys suck.” Lyra hissed, sitting by the tree, defeated. “Just get me out of here. I want to go home, this isn’t fun. If we don’t leave soon we’re going to attract something that will eat us.”

“Alright,” Eltanin chuckled, grinning madly. He wasn’t as serious as Lyra, though he knew she had a point. “Let’s go then,”

It took them a few minutes to get Lyra free from the evertrees grasp, but they did it! Time to go.

“Guys? You hear that, right?” Mystic asked, motioning to the leaves that crunched slowly beneath something massive. That can’t be good.

thing felt: leaves and sticks from eltanin and mystic poking her ]

Prompt 2 wrote:Why couldn't it have been bunnies and kittens? Why couldn’t this just have been a soft thing, but nooooo. As always, life spit on her and decided to throw her a curveball. She called it, too! So great, Eltanin knew he would never hear he end of it. He could already hear her shrill parent voice just nagging away at him. The longer they stayed out in the dark, the more likely it would be that they ran into something dangerous. Lo and behold, as if on cue, a mighty beast popped in. Of course, Lyra was screaming. Mystic was curious, as ever, so Eltanin was carrying her by the scruff, running for his life.

He was terrified. He had already experienced what these things could do first hand. He already knew that, if caught, there would be no possible way of survival. He knew that he would feel guilty forever, so they had to get out of here safely because he wouldn’t be able to handle that kind of guilt weighing in on him for the rest of his life. “Why couldn’t it have been bunnies and kittens?” He asked again, this time out loud.

Mystic shrugged, swaying back and forth in the air comfortably. “I mean he’s almost a kitten. He doesn’t look very old, he’s barely half of your size. Did you even take a look at him?” Mystic asked curiously, glancing at the adolescent manticore that pursued them.

Eltanin shook his head. “The poison they have is still enough to kill. We have to get away.”

“Why don’t you just go by the pixie stream?”

“The what.”

“Pixie stream, you know, the stream that you guys found me.”

“Lyra?”

“I’ll lead the way, don’t worry.” Lyra murmured, too scared to argue. Pixie stream was a pretty safe haven, one protected from dark deities and terrifying beasts such as the manticore. Nobody was quite sure how, but it was believed that a sorcerer put a blessing on the space for this reason. They just had to make it there alive.

Manticores are always fun to be chased by :> ]

Prompt 3 wrote:“What do you mean you room a wrong turn?” Eltanin asked, clearly alarmed and very scared. Mystic dropped to the ground, landing with an annoyed “oof” as she hit the dirt. She didn’t recognize the area that they were in, the young flitz never daring to venture this far. She did, however, feel like she knew the place.

“I think we’re in Reaper Hollow,” She whispered nervously. She glanced around, seeing that they were no longer being pursued gave her some home. “Hey guys, we’re safe here!” She decided. No manticore was a good thing, right? It had to be!

“Reaper Hollow?”

“You know, that one legend of the one... you know the... The keep out of the woods thing! That you guys have... you know what i mean?”

“Should I?” Lyra asked, clearly confused. “Reaper sounds an awful lot like the grim reaper, like death guy. I don’t like that. If this is going to be a scary story then I don’t want to hear it.”

“Fine i won’t tell it,” Mystic murmured. “But you right it does involve death.”

“Our death!” Eltanin shouted, causing poor Lyra to once again jump into the air. “Come on Ly, the manticore is gone! Why don’t we just wait here for the night.”

“For the NIGHT? are you MAD?” Lyra shouted.

“Aren’t we all? But look, there’s nothing around here. The reaper or whatever probably lives in this place because it’s protected.”

“Either that or we died.” Mystic added sarcastically. It was mostly out of innocent curiosity to see what Lyra would do; she was pleased to find that her reaction was, as always, dramatic and loud.

“DIED? Oh my god. This is hell, we’re dead. That’s it, we’re dead. We’re dead and THIS IS WHAT HELL IS LIKE.” Lyra cried, pacing back and forth, crisp leaves crunching underneath each step.

Mystic shouldn’t have been laughing, but she was. She couldn’t help herself. It was so quiet and peaceful here, the eerie aura of it all was enough to convince her that no, this was not hell, and Lura was once again over reacting. "Wow,” Mystic began, her ever so frequent grin spreading across her face. She knew she was a trouble maker. She couldn’t help herself, she had to. “I didn't expect Hell to be so chill."

I’m gonna add to this one scree

prompt #1:

There was silence at first.
As his senses started working again though, he started to get some kind of a picture of the place he might be in.
First sense to return was his hearing. Although his ears were ringing, he managed to pick up the sounds of water, running gently like a calm river.
Then, his sight returned. The flit opened his eyes. He blinked a few times before turning his head up at what he presumed was the sky. The flit saw a small white point in the pitch black sky. He sighed, relieved that the darkness was only because of the room and not because he became blind.
He didn't want to get up, but he knew he had to.
As he slowly came to his senses, he could smell a horrible stench hang around in the room, bad enough to make him gag, and he felt the mudlike ground beneath him.
'Great,' he thought, 'I'll never wash this stench out of my fur.'
He finally, although in a quite unbalanced manner, stood up and looked around.
Aside from that one star in the sky and its reflection in the water, it was like he was in an obsidian black box.
He started walking in the direction of the star.
He felt a chill run up from his paw all the way up to his shoulders as he put it in the water not even three steps away from him.
How deep the water was he knew not, but he had to continue. He needed to get out if there.

As he went further and further into the water, the deeper and deeper it became. The flit grimaced at the thought of having to wash himself for hours to get whatever this stench was out of his fur.
He felt like a block of ice floating in a freezing ocean. Wet, cold, alone.
He was swimming for what seemed like an hour when he could safely say that he was closer to the white dot. His feet didn't touch any kind of ground since he so he could have a bit of a rest.
As he swam towards the dot in the sky, a feeling of dread suddenly accompanied his exhaustion.
Something touched his leg.
Gasping, he almost managed to swallow some water as he pulled away his leg from where he thought the thing was.
'It was just some kelp, probably,' he thought, 'it must've been some kelp...'
He swam faster faster, in case it wasn't that.
Some time later, and the shiny, white dot seemed to be a bit closer again. He sighed in relief, though he feared he might not make it because of how tired he was.
A bad feeling made its way into his chest, something similar to being nervous, yet it felt somewhat... off. Uncomfortable.

Something touched his leg again. This time though it grabbed him.
The flit yelped and tried swimming away, but the thing wouldn't let go. He barely felt it because of how cold he was, but he felt it was almost like... kelp? He didn't have time to think of it as it was trying to pull him under the water.
The more he flailed, the more kelplike things grabbed him.
He was above, then under, then above the surface again, swallowing more and more of the dark, murky water he was in.
This is it, he thought. He gave out another desperate cry, barely managing to keep his head above the water.
It grabbed his leg tight.
And with a yank, the flit disappeared into the dark, black abyss.

The white dot in the sky blinked, then it vanished.
