The igni, also known as canis ignis or simply a fire dog, is a (mostly) hairless canine species native to both the lit (ikk-taa) and dark (qu'ur-taa) sides of the planet of Syera (Sayaeira). It isn't very tall, usually growing up to around 50cm (20inch) of height. Its lack of fur and abnormally long tail caused the prejudiced folk to call them overgrown rats. The igni has a unique ability to set itself on fire and its skin is completely resistant to burns⁽¹⁾. It is also highly intelligent and has an exceptionally long lifespan, with some ignis reported to be still alive at the age of over 2'000 years old. Whether the igni can die of old age is unknown.


　　COLORATION
Its coloration consists primarily of greyscale, with at most 3 different shades on its bare skin, and what's referred to as fire color - a bright accent that will show in the igni's eyes as well as its meat, blood and fire. Usually it's a single color, however two and more have been noticed on ignis with heterochromia.


　　COMMUNICATION
Like many creatures native to Syera, the igni cannot talk with its mouth. It rarely barks and communicates primarily with whines, growls and hisses. It has the ability to "talk" to others via taking control of their thoughts - the more skilled the igni, the clearer the message.

　　FIRE CONTROL
Signs allow each igni to control its fire and emotions, and the amount of them defines its fire control level (shortened to FCL from now on). If the igni has no Signs, its FCL is considered to be 0. If it has a single Sign, its FCL is 1. If it has two, its FCL will also be 2, and so on. Exception: Previously unsigned ignis have the FCL of .5 (one half).

　Abilities - FCL 0 (unsigned due to childhood trauma or neglect)

• Sudden, extreme mood shifts.
• Close to no control over their fire, experiencing any emotion has a high chance to make them burst out in flames.
• No means of telepathic communication.
• Cannot succesfully breed.

　Abilities - FCL .5 (previously unsigned)

• Can still experience mood shifts, but they aren't as extreme or common as in the unsigned.
• Able to control their fire for the most part; some emotions may still trigger a complete or partial outburst.
• Those who have a strong bond with the igni will feel its strong emotions (hatred, despair, anxiety etc). The igni has no control over it.
• They can breed, however there is only a 50% chance of it producing any offspring.

　Abilities - FCL 1 (common)

• Stable character.
• The igni can set itself on fire at will, completely or partially. Cannot do other fire tricks.
• The igni can choose who will feel its emotions and which emotions. Cannot send messages telepathically.
• Can succesfully breed.

　Abilities - FCL 2 (common)

• Stable character.
• The igni can set itself on fire at will, completely or partially. Can create small fireballs out of its paws.
• The igni can choose who will feel its emotions and which emotions. It can telepathically send simple messages, like "chair" or "food" to someone it bonded with. If the igni focuses, it can form simple, often gramatically incorrect sentences in minds of those they have a strong bond with, like "I jump on chair" or "Give food". Its voice will echo in your head.
• Can succesfully breed every 2 months.

　Abilities - FCL 3 (ups the rarity to rare)

• Stable character.
• The igni can set itself on fire at will, completely or partially. Can create big fireballs out of its paws and breathe fire.
• The igni can choose who will feel its emotions and which emotions. It can effortlessly form simple sentences telepathically to anyone, whether it's bonded with them or not. It will likely not use big words. Its voice will echo in your head.
• Can succesfully breed every 3 months.

　Abilities - FCL 4 (ups the rarity to rare)

• Stable character.
• The igni can set itself on fire at will, completely or partially. Can create fireballs out of its paws, breathe fire and set indistant objects aflame with their sheer willpower.
• The igni talks just like a human being; it just talks telepathically. Its voice will echo in your head. If it concentrates heavily, it may be able to force your mind to feel different emotions; calm an anxiety attack, give you a confidence boost, anger you, etc.
• Can succesfully breed every 4 months.

　Abilities - FCL 5 (will only show on legendary ignis)

• Stable character.
• The igni can set itself on fire at will, completely or partially. Can create fireballs out of its paws, breathe fire and set distant objects aflame with their sheer willpower.
• The igni talks just like a human being; it just talks telepathically. Its voice is clear. It can iueriuerui
• Can succesfully breed every 5 months.

UNSIGNED; the chaotic
While signs usually appear on mature ignis, in some cases of neglect they might never develop properly. This leaves an adult igni as unpredictable and impulsive as a pup, and their fire control ability is very limited; they only randomly catch on fire when experiencing strong emotions. With enough patience and care from the new owner, a single, dimmer sign can appear at an older age; these ignis, however, will never be as powerful as most others. Unmarked ignis cannot succesfully breed.

ORKER; the guardian
Ignis under the sign of Orker are often kept as guardian dogs, hence the name. They are extremely loyal to their owner and friends and will fight until the end if something or someone were to put them in danger.
