Jason Loen I Werewolf I Medic I Tags; Mark, Danny, Aspat
This time, he didn't answer at all. The paramedic just crouched, hauling Aurora up into his own arms with a grunt of effort and moving towards the stairs. A little unsteadily, since Aurora was so heavy. Far heavier than Emmelene had been. Mind whirring, he tried to work out where things went from there. Once upon a time, he'd have called himself intelligent. Well, he was rethinking that now.
Mark's words rung in his ears. Or, more specifically, the truth in them. Something told him this - ignoring what Mark, as old and respected as he still was among the original Crimson Sky wolves, had said - was a very, very bad idea, but for now, he wasn't sure there was another acceptable option. Aurora was Pack. He couldn't - he wouldn't - let anybody hurt one of his packmates, if it could be helped. Especially now. Even if the female in question petrified him. Even if he did know Mark was right. And if he had to take the bullet, hopefully metaphorically, for his decision, he would.
Only pausing to glance apologetically at Danny - apologetic for what, he wasn't sure - and glare a warning at the hunter sprawled on the floor with the other medic, he was about to start carrying Aurora up the narrow stairs when he heard a faint howl, coming from the front of the building. Unmistakably Adam, presumably with the rest of the pack on his heels. Crap. I'm running out of time.

He had to get Aurora out of the way before Adam found out the events a few minutes previous. He was sure Adam would kill her otherwise. There was a tunnel built between the basement and the barn, designed so that it would still be accessible even under heavy snow or storm conditions, but whether the door was rusted shut or not he wasn't sure. Only one way to find out.
He paused, turning and searching for the passage, eventually seeing it on the east wall. Despite the comparatively small size of this room, the door was hard to make out against the dark walls.

"Adam's back," Jason stated, unnecessarily. "Do you think the old tunnel out to the barn is still usable? Nobody's used it, at least since as long as I've been around."
He laid his cargo down again, jogged over to the wall and tried to undo the bolt on the reinforced door. Unsuccessfully. It was rusted shut.
"Mark? Please, help me get the door open. We'll go out this way, up into the barn, grab the four-by-four, then we can get your car on the way back into town. I'm assuming you've got one out in the woods somewhere...? You'll have to direct me to it. Danny, you can handle the wounded on your own, right? I don't wanna run out like this, I swear, but-"
The sharp bang of the front door opening echoed through the house.

Blair Strong I Werewolf I Fighter I Tags; Adam, Scott, Sebastian, Genesis, Emery, Emmelene, Lance???
Blair heard it, alright. She turned, looking around, trying to work out where those voices were coming from. Two, three wolves, maybe? East-ish? Far past the territory markers fifteen miles further out and into their land, anyway. Even if the marks hadn't been renewed recently - she knew they didn't have the manpower - they were hard to miss if you were paying any attention at all. Though, she guessed, with the snow further up the mountainsides, they could have faded quickly since the last long border patrol. She made a mental note to remind somebody to do that, if nobody else brought it up before she did. But first, more importantly.
Blair moved forward a few feet, fidgeting nervously with her sweater sleeves, shivering in the breeze, lowering her head slightly and gesturing towards the howls. The air had turned as cold as her blood now night was drawing in, and even as she stood there it started to rain. And rain hard. How apt. It fit the atmosphere perfectly.
"Should I go and check it out?"
She wasn't sure whether it was the inferiority complex talking or what, but the sudden urge to defer to Adam was overwhelming. He was the closest thing she had to Skylar she had, she supposed. He looked like he was in control. That was good enough for the still-panicking female. Though the sounds had been dampened by the now-pouring rain, she was sure she had a good grasp on the general direction. She could probably be there in minutes, as fast as she was, foul weather or not.
"That didn't sound like any of ours, for sure."
She glanced to Emmy for confirmation, who nodded firmly in response over her shoulder from her position a few metres ahead as she struggled to help her Dad over the threshold. That girl knew the pack's voices better than anybody, the old alphas excluded. Even those of wolves such as Jason, who never associated with the pack if they could help it, who were never seen more than once or twice every few months. Weak though she may have been, her memory and recognition skills were unparalleled. So, if Emmy was sure...
"No, it's definitely not. Not even one of the outliers. Can't scent them from here, but somebody's gonna have to check this out, sir. And you're injured."
She winced suddenly, not sure if she'd gone too far. Still not sure where the new dynamic had come from, but too conflicted to challenge it right now.

Adrian D'Arc I Human I Blade Team Leader I Tags; Loey, Col, Kat
"What a load of crap you poor souls ha' gotten yerself into," Loey had simply said, frowning even harder. "This is a bloodbath! How could they even expect you to deal wi' this?"
Collin still looked like he wanted to slap Logan when D'Arc picked up his tea and left the room, patting Kat affectionately - or, as affectionately as D'Arc ever really got in public - on the shoulder as he passed and murmuring a quiet word of thanks.
Glimpsing the calendars he passed, he realised it had been three days since he had actually slept, not counting the naps he'd snatched in the hospital or in the car. Even with the crazy amount of coffee he'd consumed in the last few hours alone, he was exhausted on every single level.
The team leader made it up the stairs and into the small bunk room he was supposed to have been sharing with Ford - there hadn't been enough rooms for one each, barely managing to pull off his outer layers of clothing and shoes and make it into the top bunk before he went under and tumbled into a troubled sleep.

{ Species } Blade { Role } Agent { Tags} D'arc, Loey, Collin { Crush } open

Only glancing up from the papers i was glancing over when i felt the hand upon my blood soaked shoulders i winced though tried to mask it with a simple nod and a hum in response glancing over to him with a faint smile as i watched him make his way slowly up the staircase, wanting to ensure the less then half functioning male didn't fall down them instead i finally returned my attention to the other men now in the room just vaguely catching the words Loey had casted out and gave a tired sigh and a shake of my head, taking another sip of the quickly cooling tea switching my gaze towards the window that was becoming covered in the heavy rainfall"well i'm fairly certain they hadn't intended on half our team being slaughtered less then half a week in" I commented glancing back to him with a unimpressed look, scoffing inwardly at the look i caught the younger one holding apperently he wasn't a fan either though of course neither were doing anything actually wrong, they just weren't our team, though i guessed they were now. It was still hard to believe only a day or two ago this room was filled with us, each doing our own thing rather it be setting up the computers, keeping the mood lighten or arming the cabin and now everything had changed within the last 48 hours the uneasy feeling of ford still being out there long set in even if he were a bit irriatating most the time he was one of us and with the storm rolling in it hadn't made anything easier. I finally had moved the papers off D'arcs laptop and started it up fingers tapping silently on the arm of the chair while i waited for the email to open every so often glancing at the other agents to ensure they were at least doing okay before glancing to the window or deadbolted door with each sound that passed i swear if those beasts find out where we are.. Finally the page had loaded and i quickly grabbed a pad of paper and a pen before begining to read "Mark Holloway, 33 years old, lived in Jasper for eight years, moved out two years ago. Caucasian male who matches the man you encountered earlier. Strong links to the Steel family as far as Intel can work out, particularly to Gregory Steel. Currently staying at a motel just outside Jasper. We've now got all his cards and his vehicle flagged, so he makes another move and we'll know about it for sure. Intel are trawlings through CCTV footage with plate and face recognition software to try to trace his event movements as we speak." I jotted down the key-points in the email on the paper as well as taking another sip of the quickly cooling tea glazing over the words once more we had his hotel, had his plate and the software so in short we had a potential lead or - at the very least someone worth talking too it was definitely something to bring up especially if he had such a good bond with the steels. Tossing the pen down on the table and glancing back up to the agents i leaned back in the chair "Any luck?" I questioned the knowledge to check back in with the sniper had he not turned up in the next half hour fresh in the back of my mind.

It hadn't taken long after the group had confirmed that yet another obsticle standing between us and home had made their way into the territory did i narrow my gaze in its direction, how many would blindly wonder into a packs territory before realizing what outcome could serve any of these morons? already there were way too many unknown on the land to move comfortably though i knew we couldn't leave it unadressed and hope they would leave that was more unlikely then anything, just as i was about to turn and head back out my attention switched to the now heavily covered sky the harsh wind making itself known as it rushed passed bringing the torturous downpour with it quickly drenching everyone including the shifted blair, whos words caught my undivided attention even through the raging storm her form still low and unsure i studied her for a moment completely against sending her to find out what was going on and about to adress her before catching the vocaless interaction between her and the teen behind me followed by the statement i sighed heavily, a glare being casted at the cursed pain now throbbing in the freezing tempretures i momentarily closed my eyes, taking a breath before I too shifted with a faint pained yelp, landing in a kneeling position as soon as two of the four legs dissapeared i released the breath and reopened my eyes wasting no time to pull myself up and look back to Blair with a still unsure look, I didn't want her going back into the forest, not to mention by herself but the only other option was lance, who not so surprisingly dissapeared who knows where on the way back, i wasn't sure if he was returning or why i thought he would but i supposed a part of me would always want the better half of me to reunite with the pack, though that wasn't likely. Finally shaking my head in defeat i walked over to Blair reaching her in a matter of seconds, slipping my own jacket off in the process before putting it around her and pulling the hood over her head even if she had made poor choices lately i had to keep in mind though she was a fighter and a good one at that she knew what she was doing when she didn't let that big heart of hers get in the way that said i did know there was a weapon in the jacket pocket, even though i was well awear of her refusal to use them it was more of a precaution. Now standing before the fellow fighter in just my t-shirt and jeans i ensured i held her attention before finally speaking tone still deathly serious "I don't care who they are or what they want, I want you back at the house in fifteen minutes, twenty tops i already don't like you being alone. Blair trust you're instinct if you need us call us don't take a chance you before them" I reminded in a faintly softer tone just enough so she could notice i wasn't trying to be mean i was trying to keep everyone safe. Watching her for a moment longer i stepped out of her way and motioned for her to go, watching until she dissapeared before looking back to Emmery and emmy watching as the smaller frame struggled i glanced at the white haired male with a still distrusting gaze, but there was no trace anyone from the house was coming "What can you do?" I called over my shoulder as i continued towards the duo ignoring the soaked hair and clothing as i stopped beside them with a concerned aura as i assisted in moving them further towards the house

She merely nodded meekly, pulling the hood more snugly over her dark hair and - with a frown that hinted vaguely towards her inner terror - she turned and set off in a wobbly sprint, running straight for the strange voices they'd picked up. With any luck, she'd catch them, scare them off and be done with it. She didn't want to fight anymore. And, up again not one but two opponents of unknown ability, she'd probably lose anyway.

Still, with little hesitation, she advanced on the rough location of the howls, only slowing once the wolves - two of them - were well within sight.
She was no scout, so she knew there was a fair chance they'd either heard or seen her coming. But she shouted the shaky challenge anyway, moving to within twenty metres of the pair and raising herself onto the balls of her feet, both to make herself look that little bit taller and to enable herself to dance aside if she had to.
"HEY!"
Not enough aggression. Or was it too much? She didn't know anymore.
She lowered her voice, just a little, and continued.
"The hell do you think you're doing on our territory?"

Theodore Ford I Human I Blade Team Sniper I Tags; Kat, Col, Loey
"Hey, you're not going to believe this."
The ex-marine broke the radio silence with a voice so low and confused it could barely be heard.
"She just vanished."
Indeed, the girl who had, barely seconds ago, offered to bind his hand injuries (minor though they were), had vanished without a trace in the half-minute it had taken Ford to finish stripping off the heavy bulletproof.

D'Arc didn't answer. But the commander never, ever failed to reply.
He pushed the panic down with a frown, switching channels to Kat. Maybe he was sleeping, and didn't have his comms device within reach? However unusual that was? That was probably it. He gulped loudly and pushed the slight worry to one side. He had better things to worry about.
"Kathrine? Hey, Kat, I can't get through to D'Arc. Where is he?"
In an even lower whisper, he added, "she's gone! Kapoof! Vanished! Like, here one moment, gone the next? No tracks, no nothing! I turned my back for like a minute and then poof! What do I do?"

NPCS // Collin Freeman and Logan Rodriguez // Status; Blade HQ
"Poor guy. Looks lile he really needs a rest," Logan murmured, flashing a look at Collin, then falling silent as his laptop booted. Minutes passed. Then he looked up from his standard-issue laptop, tapping the metal casing out of vague irritation.
"The land belongs to Skylar Alexander- Aleksanderson- Some chick called Skylar. Norwegian citizen, here on a permanent residency visa. Has massive shares in an overseas coal company, polar research company and an icebreaker merchant corps, too. Bought the few square miles directly surrounding this-" Loey tapped a spot on a map, drawing a circle around it with a finger - " back in 2013, then bought out the owners of two neighbouring houses at the start of 2014. Out of pocket."
He frowned. "A twenty five year old has no business with that much money, I'm telling you. But anyway, she now owns a property spanning approximately fifteen square miles, most of it unfarmable because it's too far up the mountainside. Dense woods. And no roads whatsoever. Satellite shows a dirt track or two, but even they look rough. There's only the road that passes to the west, which we have to take to get up here."
He frowned again.
"I hope you're not implying we have to storm these guys. You know that could cause some big ol' political issues? I mean, even if we get a warrant, which I doubt you guys will bother with."

Col looked over, a sheath of case files in hand.
"Doubt it. Even if - and it's not unlikely - she has something to do with this, we'd be better off trying to pick off the pack one by one, surely? These things congregate in packs, right? Well, ma'am -" he looked cautiously at Kat, unsure of how to address her but keen to impress regardless and apparently oblivious to Loey's rolling eyes -" why don't we find ourselves a nice spot to ambush them, then draw them out one by one. No survivors, nobody to warn the others."

Loey didn't look so sure.
"Now listen here, you pompous lil' jerk. I've dealt with my fair share of criminals and the likes, and I don't need you putting them there orders in my ears. They're stupid. You really think these ugly critters are literally just gonna come on out one by one? No, I don't think so, bud. They'll come rushing out as a group, for sure. They're pack animals, after all. Really, the best idea is to just set up shop, machine gun each, and just gun them all down. Silver bullets are effective, right, uh..... miss... I didn't catch your name, miss, I don't think."

Genesis Sanders | Female | Loner | Location: Forest |Tags: Her brother, Blair

At the sound of stomping footsteps coming their way, Gen looked up from the kill, her ears flat against her skull and her fur along her spine raised despite the rain. She let out a low growl as the girl shouted at them, baring her bloodstained canines, every muscle in her body tense.

She pressed herself closer to her brother, her head low. It wouldn't be the first time they'd been caught on pack territory and she'd learned enough from her experiences that pack wolves never stopped to listen before attacking. Just because this girl hadn't shifted didn't mean she wasn't a threat or there wasn't back up coming. She glanced at Sebastian, unsure what he wanted to do, before returning her glare to the other female, resuming her growl.

Sebastian Sanders | Male | Loner | Location: Forest | Tags: His sister, Blair

While his sister took an aggressive position, Sebastian pricked his ears, his fur flat and his posture relaxed. He didn't want to fight, he was tired of fighting, and she hadn't attacked yet. He pressed himself against his sister momentarily, taking a careful step towards the girl in front of them.

He hesitated, stepping back again. She said they were on her territory, meaning she was part of a pack. His gaze flitted to his sister, a deep sigh escaping him. At this point, a pack seemed the best way to protect her and this was the first pack interaction he hadn't had to fight his way out of...

He turned away, whining reassuringly to Gen as she turned to look at him, her smaller frame tensed. He gave a slight shake of his head, hoping she'd get the message not to start a fight while he was gone, and jogged towards the underbrush, his limbs breaking and reforming themselves as he shifted, letting out a quiet groan as he stretched, his joints popping as he stood.

He emerged from the underbrush on human legs, his fingers tangling in Gen's fur as she circled him protectively, no longer growling but still baring her teeth. "We're not looking for trouble," he called across the clearing, hands up in surrender. "I don't want a fight, we're just looking for some help. I'm Sebastian." he smiled charmingly, hoping to put the girl at ease and maybe just maybe not have to travel anymore.

Blair Strong I Werewolf I Fighter I Tags; Sebastian, Genesis
The half-blood returned the growl half-heartedly, despite the aches in her limbs from the warfare only hours previous and the ringing of Adam's orders in her head.
"Don't want any trouble? Ha. You are aware the border is, like, ten miles from here?"
But she shook her head regardless. Saying she was taken aback would have been like saying Atlantis had a problem with damp.
They didn't look hostile.
Though she wasn't what you could have called a great judge of character.
She was shaking.
Twenty minutes tops, Blair.
How long did she have?
"We're just looking for some help."
She remembered those words. Countless packmembers, though loners at the time, bedraggled and bloodied and desperate for shelter. Hoping that the famous Gregory Steel, collector of assorted waifs and strays, would help them to their feet. Though some continued on their own path, many decided to stay in Jasper. It was how Crimson Sky had once grown so powerful. He took in those who nobody else would - rogues and Bittens and halfbloods like her - and gave them a home.

Well, they needed help, too. Maybe - just maybe - they could help eachother.

With a sigh, her stance softened. She pulled the hood of the temporary Alpha's coat away from her face, wincing as the rain splattered into her face, and extended a hand towards the male.
"Blair Strong, halfblood, fighter," she reeled off, running on default. "I don't know how fast news has travelled, but we're not at our best anymore. But we're still standing, and we'll share what we have left. What can we do for you, Sebastian?"
And what can you do for us?

Gen let out a small growl when the girl stepped forward, cut off when Seb nudged her and she snorted, laying down at his feet, her eyes still locked on Blair.

They hadn't been ambushed yet, but that didn't mean it wouldn't happen. If it did, and Sebastian was caught in a fight as a human, she'd rip this girl limb from limb, she vowed, her eyes narrowing. She'd almost lost her brother once when they'd been too trusting, and she wouldn't make the same mistake.

Sebastian Sanders | Male | Loner | Location: Forest | Tags: His sister, Blair

He let out a sigh of relief, taking her hand. "This is Genesis, my sister. We're full bloods, ex fighter and scout." he introduced themselves, Gen snorting at the mention of her name and rank. "I apologize for my sister's attitude. We've been through a lot in the past two years." he murmured, taking a moment to glare at his sister.

"We're looking for a pack." he stated simply. "We've been on our own for 5 years and things have gotten worse and worse. We've been turned away or attacked by any other pack on our way here. We just want some type of security. We're more than capable of pulling our own weight, and as you can see," he paused, gesturing to the carcass behind them. "We're both able to hunt if needed." He paused, letting his guard down for a moment as he lowered his voice. "You guys are our last option, please. All i'm asking for is a chance, at least help my sister." he pleaded, and Genesis's head popped up, a whine escaping her as she stepped forward to run her head under his hand.

She nodded.
"It's.. it's not my decision to make, and... We're in a bad position on the while decision-making front to start with, to be completely honest. Our Alphas died a couple of weeks back, our Beta is out of action and our temporary leader has some serious trust issues. He's trying to hold things together. You'll have to speak to him."
The half-blood pulled the sleeves of her sweater down further over her hands, beginning to shiver as she stood there. The cold wind seemed to blow straight through the borrowed coat.
"I'll say it straight. I dont like it, but it's true. We're desperate for wolves. As far as I can see, he won't turn you away. Especially if you're a fighter and a scout, as you say."
She knew Adam would bite her head off for this. Particularly after she'd just dragged the loner Scott back to the beta's house. But looking at the pair of werewolves over her shoulder as she turned to walk away, she decided she didn't care.
"Just follow me, would you?"

His heart sunk at her first words, and he glanced down at his sister as he listened. His mind spun on what to do next until Blair admitted her pack was desperate. He let out a deep sigh of relief, and Gen's tension melted from her form next to him.

He jogged to walk beside her, Gen following close behind, her paws soft against the wet earth. "We appreciate this." he told Blair honestly, his gaze searching through the trees. "Is there anything I should know? We haven't gotten to speak to an Alpha before." He chuckled, trying to calm his nerves. "I think it would be better that Gen stays out of the conversation when I first meet him. I'm the friendly sibling of the two of us. She's got a bit of a mouth on her unfortunately." he admitted, smiling sheepishly.

Genesis Sanders | Female | Loner | Location: Forest |Tags: Her brother, Blair
Gen huffed as she followed, listening to her brother speak. His personality was a polar opposite of hers. Where he was charming and friendly, she was temperamental and cautious.

She rolled her eyes at his friendly nature, knowing he was dialing up the charm to try and gain favor. One of these days he was going to flirt with the wrong girl and get his lights knocked out. She snorted in amusement at the thought. Another part of her felt guilty though. As long as she could remember, Sebastian had never let himself get involved with someone and she knew she was the reason why. He didn't think he could take care of her if someone else occupied his attention. And it wasn't like he hadn't had the opportunity, she'd seen plenty of waitresses bat their eyelashes at him when they'd stop at little diners. And he'd flirt back but it never went farther.

Maybe he'd finally get an opportunity to do have something for himself if this pack accepted them. But that was a big if.

Blair Strong I Werewolf I Fighter I Tags; Sebastian, Genesis
"He's not an Alpha until he's formally appointed. He's only acting in the absence of Skylar, who was only acting as leader until we pick one. So you'll be waiting a while yet. Just be calm, don't do anything that could appear threatening - that includes presenting yourself in wolf form - and, you know, just be friendly. We're all on edge."
She waved them on, moving closer and closer to the Beta's home and trying to ignore the growing pit in her stomach. They'd not been quite as far as the razor-wire fencing surrounding the property, so at least there wasn't that to worry about, but with the sharp crunch of frosted leaves underfoot and the growing scent of Pack, she couldn't help panicking about the inevitable confrontation. Despite her words, she couldn't guarantee their safety, let alone them been accepted into the pack just like that, and the last thing she wanted was blood on her clean hands. With her luck - and theirs, she was now assuming - something was bound to go wrong. Still, she tried to push the unlikely possibilities aside as the trio finally came within sight of the dilapidated buildings and through the vague clearing that passed for a driveway.
"This is it. Your move, guys. He's right there."
He - Adam Hale - was right in front of them, give a few yards.
She smiled weakly, waving him down.
"I don't know where I find them, Adam, but I found a couple more wolves. They'd like to speak to whoever's in charge."

Mark Holloway ~ Male ~ Thirty-Three ~ Werewolf ~ Loner/Former-Beta
Location: Skylar's Basement ~ Tags: Danny, Aspat, Aurora, Jason

Mark wasn't entirely approving of Jason's next move, and he was sure his facial expression made it known. The medic grabbed Aurora without putting her in restraints and was already moving to leave. He nearly offered to carry her considering the grunt Jason gave when he'd lifted her. But was cut off as he spoke of Adam's return, from where Mark still had no knowledge of. When the tunnel was brought up he gave Jason a skeptical look, "Maybe?" It's not like he'd been around to know if anyone kept it in check or used at all, Jason would know more about that than he would. "Worth a shot either way." He noted and started moving to follow after him to help with the bolt. "On the side of the road." He admitted in a mildly annoyed tone at the thought of having left it there, "Can't miss it."

Mark gave the door a quick glance over before grabbing hold of the handle and giving the entire door a good jarring shake before having a go at the latch. Loosened roughly, so he slammed it with the little room it gave until it slid over completely. With that he opened the door and went back for Aurora's unconscious form. Jason wouldn't have the easiest time maneuvering at the end of the tunnel with her in his arms, even Mark knew he'd not enjoy it himself. Adding onto what Jason had said, Mark glanced back at Danny and Aspat. "If they ask then tell them Jason was giving me a lift back to town." Mark's tone was nonchalant, it wasn't exactly a lie, so Danny shouldn't feel too pressured from speaking it should he need to. Mark would admit that leaving the medic with the hunter wasn't something he wanted to do, but for the moment Aurora posed a greater threat than Aspat as far as he was concerned. Then there was her safety to take into consideration as well. So he was taking the gamble that Danny could handle it if need be. Mark turned back to Jason and the doorway, "Lead the way."
