Cadi had walked away from the others, escaping the somber mood that seemed to rest heavily upon the group. They all seemed so...sad. Why? For Cadi, ending up here almost seemed like a stroke of luck. The forest happened to seem like an improvement to the blaring, grimy city theyβd left behind. To her, this new environment felt a lot more natural. Like a place where she belonged. Her instincts were going wild with the new smells and sights, her senses overpowered with all these new things to do and places to explore.
Eager she was, but Cadi was no fool. Despite spending her life as a stray alone, she would be an idiot to walk away from a group in a place like this. Dog catchers and cars were one thing. But out here, there seemed to be an underlying danger. Something big. Something predatory. Cadi didnβt know what sort of creatures lurked within these woods. If strength in numbers counted for something, it would certainly be a good idea to stick around those dogs back there.
Cadi wasnβt exactly bothered by the rules these so called βalphasβ had set. But for now sheβd do her best to stick to them. Following them was better than fending for herself. Practically on time, she briskly headed back to the clearing once the low howl from a male rang out, Cadi could only assume to gather everyone together. She cleared the obstacles in her path, clearing tree roots and jumping logs until she safely made it back to the others.
Cadi kept her eyes down, avoiding eye contact with the others whilst Apollo spoke. But she barley suppressed a chuckle at what he had to say. βComfort of their homesβ? Mustβve been nice for some. Except all Cadi had waiting for her back in that city was a dusky alleyway, and some scraps in a garbage can. She let out a strained sigh as she slumped against a tree. It seemed many of the dogs here were pets. So it came as no surprise many wished to head back. Cadiβs eyes briefly scanned the group, and she shook her head slowly. An old dog, a pregnant female, a few submissive omegas. Maybe they didnβt have the best chances to make it out here long term after all. But it still seemed to bother her.
She looked beside her as a larger male stalked past, settling beneath a tree not so far away. βHmf, given the opportunity of a lifetime and weβre heading back to that hell of a city.β She muttered, possibly loud enough for him to hear. Like several here, Cadi wasnβt much of a talker. But sheβd do her best to at least try. Even if she did happen to pick quite an impossible dog in particular.
