Gym 5 is Canalave, right? At that point your team should really be somewhere around 35. I recommend going left from Pastoria to the Trophy Garden and battling every trainer along the way if you haven't done so yet. The team comp itself is fine imo

As multiple people have pointed out, it seems your team is underleveled (Which I understand as this is a pretty large team for mid game). But most notably Pokemon like Houndour should have evolved since that evolves at level 24 or Shellos at level 30. I see the Barry fight ranges between levels 32-36 if what I'm understanding is correct for Pastoria City.

I actually recommend keeping Luxio, it's a really good electric type attacker but you should definitely give it some physical moves as it's not one for special attacking (It can be but it's physical attack is much better!). If you don't want to deal with a physical electric type you can always go Jolteon instead, Jolteon is really great as a special electric type attacker but the problem is that it doesn't get the diversity that Luxray gets. So it's really up to you for that one.

If you pick Eevee you will probably want to go Jolteon or Espeon because you already have some of the better Eeveelutions covered; Vaporeon and Leafeon most notably. Espeon is good as I'm not seeing any sort of psychic type on your team and it's definitely a pretty good typing with most of the antagonist team using poison types galore. I don't really recommend Glaceon, ice can be very easily covered by your Shellos there.

I think your team is otherwise solid it just needs to be grinded up some, I haven't played Platinum at all recently so I can't recommend any good grind spots, I think your best bet would be to use the vs Seeker if you have it (I forget how early you get it) and go to the route south of Hearthome/in front of the Trophy Garden place since there's lots of trainers there. In terms of level I would recommend at the very minimum 30, it's not great but it will probably be enough to get you through the fight. Any higher would be ideal but not necessary.

Thanks everybody!
The houndour was a much more recent addition to my team so at the time she wasn't evolved. She's evolved now though!
Grotle evolved into torterra immediately when I started grinding. I'm definitely gonna grind a lot more.
The daycare is a problem because I hate that I get my pokemon back with a different move set.

I am still very unsure of what to do with my jolteon/luxray problem. What would you do?

I still think Luxray is a very solid choice for your team. But taking a second look over I think my final decision is actually to go Jolteon or Espeon. You have a lot of physical attackers so having another special wouldn't hurt, you have 2 at the moment with being Houndour and Shellos. Cranidos, Crobat, Grotle, and Luxio are all physical attackers.

If you don't want to do more training then stick to Luxio, if you don't mind the extra grind go Jolteon/Espeon. ^^ (Your choice for coverage but just know that you actually have water and flying already covered on your team for super effective moves which is what electric basically covers)

Shiny Poipole is coming as a serial code distribution, to tie-in with the Dragon Majesty TCG set!
Starting the 17th, get to Gamestop for your code!
If you’re in the UK? Nope, not GAME, Smyths Toys. Which means I’ll be missing out, as my closest is a couple hours away.
Rest of Europe gets him through the Trainer Club Newsletter

06 Sep 2018

Pick Up a Shiny Poipole at Smyths Toys
For a limited time, you can get a code at your local Smyths Toys store to add a Shiny Poipole to your game.
Most of the Trainers who encountered the Ultra Beast Poipole in Pokémon Ultra Sun and Pokémon Ultra Moon found it with its usual violet colour. Starting on September 17, you can get your hands on a Shiny Poipole, whose radiant white hue will surely stand out in your Pokémon collection.

From 17 September to 15 October, when you visit your local participating Smyths Toys store you can get a code that will let you receive a Shiny Poipole in your game. This special Poipole will already know the move Dragon Pulse, meaning it can evolve into Naganadel as soon as it levels up. Poipole knows several other crafty moves, too, including Venom Drench and Nasty Plot, making it ready for battle against your friends.

Code cards will be available at Smyths Toys only between 17 September and 15 October, so don't miss your chance to add the brilliant Shiny Poipole to your game!

Shiny Poipole
Lv. 40

Ability: Beast Boost

Visit participating GameStop stores to add Poipole to your Pokémon Ultra Sun or Pokémon Ultra Moon game! What’s more, this Shiny Poipole will be a brilliant white color instead of the usual purple. It will also know the move Dragon Pulse, meaning it can evolve into Naganadel as soon as it levels up. You can get Poipole by picking up a code card at your local GameStop between September 17 and October 7, so don't miss your chance!

Bisylizzle: If you like I can try redeeming a NA one for you at some point if I get any extra codes. You're always so helpful so I wouldn't mind.

Hello! I play pokemon emerald and i just discovered this thread :D
I was wondering, how does one find legendaries? I'm only a noob who started the games recently, but I just want to know if they are possible to be found? And if i need a master ball to catch them?

PS I have a pokemon discord server for core games, not pokecord, where you can discuss the core games. I don't think I'm allowed to post the invite link here, so do PM me if you feel like joining (so u can help noobs like me) thanks!

Yes, you can find Legendaries. There are eight that you can obtain in Emerald (though, only seven available in one playthrough). The first obtainable ones are the three Regis, available as soon as you get Dive and the associated badge you can go to Route 134 and there's a certain Diving Spot you can access which leads to a cave with a Braille "puzzle" inside it - before you go there, make sure you have a Wailord and Relicanth in your party, as well as a Pokemon that can use Dig. Then you have to find each of the three Regis in their own caves throughout Hoenn (one in the desert, one near the end of the route to the right of Fortree and one in the sea route just below Petalburg) and complete the Braille puzzles in each of those. They're Level 40.
Next is Rayquaza, obtainable just before the 8th badge. Just go back to where you found him during the story (you can't catch him the first time you "meet" him). Make sure you have the Mach Bike. He'll be Level 70, too.
The others are only obtainable after beating the Elite 4 once, starting with Latias or Latios. After re-loading the game after seeing the credits, you go downstairs, see a news report on the TV and have to decide what colour the Pokemon in the report was. Then the Lati that corresponds to that colour will randomly wander Hoenn and you have to find it in a random encounter. You can only get one per save file. They're LEvel 40.
Finally, Kyogre and Groudon. Beat the Elite 4, go to the Weather Institute, talk to the owner and he'll tell you about strange weather patterns in a certain route. Then travel to that route, look for a cave and one of the two will be within (depending on the weather type). If you take too long, or manage to catch whichever one it was, then go back, talk to the guy again and chase the other. These start at Level 70.

Master Ball is not necessary, though it can help with any of them. I'd recommend saving it for the Lati, as I believe they can run from the battle, or you could just use it on Rayquaza as soon as you get the opportunity to go get him. Otherwise, just load up on Ultra Balls, Timer Balls, get a Pokemon with False Swipe and Pokemon with Sleep or Paralyzing attacks.

I'll keep the offer in mind, thank you~ Might be able to get transport or see if people I know who live closer to grab a couple codes
