"Alessa don't wander off." Max called after her, getting the rest of her things before he headed after her, "You can't just wander away, we don't want you getting hurt.' he said softly as Matt followed them, "Ready to go home?" he asked as he headed out to the truck with her.

[Boomer]

Alessa snapped out of her thoughts as she looked to Max, a little confused. "Y-yes..." she said softly. She looked down at her feet as they passed through the ER. She didn't want to see any blood or terrible injuries.

Max gently brought her close to his side so she didn't have to see, he headed out with her and Matt. He lead them to the truck and helped them into their carseats.

[Boomer]

Alessa was relieved to leave the hospital. She still thought about the twins and the pups; she hoped that Maria's girls were doing okay. "Are you mad at them?" she asked suddenly, staring right into Max's eyes. She was reluctant to get into the car seat, but didn't fight too much.

Max looked at her, "Mad at who?" he asked as he studied her as he finished buckling her in her carseat.

[Boomer]

"Mary and Maria." she answered, "You didn't want them to stay... I think that hurt their feelings a little." The pup, whether she liked to admit it or not, was more familiar with women than men. Sure her mother was a terrible example, but she didn't have a father figure at all. There was still a longing to be comforted by a nurturing woman, even if Alessa never said it aloud.

"No, I am not mad, but I wanted to spend family time with you and Max." he said softly as he looked at her, "But I will invite them over, I know they make you happy." he said softly as he looked over at her. He closed the back door before he got in the truck as well and headed back home. Max wasn't one who usually hung out with others, not anymore, he preferred to spend time with his family, and although he liked babysitting the pups, spending so much time with others, on so little sleep, made him a little more snappish. But it was fairly obvious that Alessa would rather Mary then him, so he would invite them all oer to make her more comfortable and happy.

[Boomer]

Alessa looked down and shook her head. "No, it's okay..." she said quietly, "I haven't been good today. I don't deserve to have them come over." She did feel terrible for acting up so much at the hospital; she half expected to be sent to her room when they got home. She held onto Scarlett tightly as she stared at the floorboard. "I understand if I'm still in trouble for my behavior." she murmured quietly. Alessa knew if she ever acted that way in the presence of her mother that things wouldn't end well for her.

Max glanced back at her as he drove, "Alessa, you aren't in trouble.' he said softly, "That was all the trouble you will get in, I am not going to punish you anymore then that." he said, he didn't believe in long term punishments, it didn't serve much purpose, and he didn't believe in much punishment to begin with, since a verbal reprimand was all she had needed. He pulled in the house, "Do you want to go nap or have a bath Alessa?" he asked as he got out, he'd message Mary and see if she'd visit.

[Boomer]

"I... don't understand." she said quietly, looking up at him, "I was terrible. Terrible to you and to Matt... I don't understand why you're not angry." It confused the girl that Max wasn't screaming at her or trying to hit her. Alessa was so used to it that this way of dealing with bad behavior was strange to her. Once the truck stopped, she got out and lowered her tail some. "Whatever you'd like me to do, I'll do it." she answered, feeling that she had no right in choosing what she was going to do.
