Small discovery:
I found out that the image size DOES matter.
When the program grabs a pet, let's say id=100987 the owner name is at the bottom of this image.
The program is using this image to compare it.

TL;dr
If owner username is long, program can't read it.
No work-around for it unless we petition to make everyone's username less than 12 characters

If anyone wants to help, you can run the code and look for UNKNOWN tagged pets in the output files to ensure accuracy.

I know even less about python and its libraries and stuff than I do about Java :'D so I'm probably just shooting for the moon here, but is there a way you can compare just the pixels in a certain area? like ideally you would take the width of the reference image (e.g. 103 px) and only look at the pixels of the owned pet with that width (i.e. the pixels in the leftmost 103 pixel columns)

This issue only occurs if the image is small enough that username length matters.
For example, rats are really horizontal and can fit 20+ characters for a username. But for small things like this it would be an issue

Also I don't know how to edit/change Law's part of the code (handles all image processing) and I'd rather not edit something that is currently working
Best solution is to cross-check UNKNOWN-tagged IDs with the directory

I feel like perhaps all the very rare+ pets should be counted because just because the pet is older does not necessarily mean it's higher up on the rarity scale.

i can't find lil rascals post right now, but basically lil rascal went through the rarity change archive and added all of the pets that changed at the same time or near the same time as pets on the rares list as well as we took requests from users that wanted to see certain pets counted.

also, i wanted to share the first set of results we have gathered from the first 9999 pets. this is by no means any sort of reference or should be used with trading, but this is what we have seen so far. if you would like to see us working on this live, please click >here<

Ahhhh it’s so satisfying to see that Cee thank you and daryll for all this. <3 can’t wait to see more and help when I can lol!

And Emberz, I agree to an extent. At the moment however I feel we should focus on the list pets first and what other rarity change things rascal found before we add on more work. ^^

okay, so daryll and i talked about it and we'll take more suggestions to count very rare pets at this point. here are the rules to suggest though:

1. You must have the name and archive image link in your post.
→ Don't use [img] tags. We only need the link.
2. Please try to find when the pet turned Very Rare.
3. The pet must be Very Rare. All OMGSR pets will be counted.
4. No store pets. They will all eventually be counted.
5. Look at what other people posted. If it's already been posted, don't post it again.

I'd like to see the 2008 Royal Bobtail Dog counted.
